Abstract

Sebuah perusahaan produsen susu kemasan kaleng membutuhkan sebuah improvment pada proses produksinya yang menginginkan proses produksi menjadi otomatis. Salah satu prosesnya yaitu memindahkan kaleng menuju twister minimal 1200 pcs/jam untuk jenis 400 gram dan minimal 600 pcs/jam untuk jenis 600 dan 800 gram. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, maka perlu dibuat sebuah rancangan mesin palletizing untuk memindahkan tumpukan kaleng menuju twister secara otomatis. Mesin yang dirancang harus mampu menahan beban dari tumpukan kaleng pada saat proses memindahkan kaleng menuju twister. Proses perancangan menggunakan metodologi VDI 2206 dari mulai menetapkan requirement, system design, domain-spesific design, system integration, verification/validation, sampai dengan menghasilkan produk. Hasil proses perancangan telah menghasilkan sebuah rancangan yang mampu memindahkan kaleng menuju twister sebanyak 1500 pcs/jam untuk jenis kaleng 400 gram dan 810 pcs/jam untuk jenis kaleng 600 dan800 gram. Konstruksi mesin palletizing sangat aman, karena beberapa komponen telah dianalisis kekuatannya dan memiliki faktor keamanan minimal 3,8.

Abstract

Natural resources in the form of solar heat, can be used as an alternative to electricity generation by using a power plant tool in the form of solar panels. In certain areas there are still many who need a supply of electric power, for example in the Turun Aban Sungailiat Beach area, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. At that location there is no electric power supply at all, the fishermen at the Turun Aban Beach location often carry out the process of transporting catches at night conditions. Therefore, to meet their needs, these fishermen can use alternative power plants in the form of solar panels. This research examines the process of analyzing the performance of solar-powered power plants. The solar panel produces 115.28 watts of power in 1 day. The time required for charging the battery is 5.81 hours/day and the battery endurance time is 4.65 hours in 1 day.

Abstract

This research focuses on designing and optimizing a tapered wind turbine employing NACA 24112 airfoils, specifically tailored for Semayan Village in Central Lombok West Nusa Tenggara province. Given the escalating global energy demand and the depletion of fossil fuels, the study aims to explore alternative energy solutions. The chosen horizontal axis turbine, equipped with an increased number of blades, seeks to maximize the power coefficient and overall efficiency. The NACA airfoil model, coupled with Q-Blade v0.963 software, was employed for simulations after conducting wind speed measurements in Semayan Village. The collected data indicated moderate wind speeds, aligning with the selection of the Taper blade design. The blade design process involved comprehensive system efficiency calculations and twist angle optimizations to enhance overall turbine performance and extend its lifespan. Rotor simulations revealed a noteworthy peak in the power coefficient (Cp), reaching 45% at Tip Speed Ratio (TSR) 7, indicating an optimal point for power generation. However, the study emphasizes the importance of selecting an appropriate TSR, as efficiency diminishes at higher TSR values. This research highlights the potential of wind energy as a viable and sustainable solution, particularly for regions with limited access to electricity. It advocates for the broader adoption of renewable energy sources to address the evolving energy landscape.

Abstract

Solusi pemenuhan energi listrik di daerah pedalaman dapat terselesaikan dengan menggunakan sumber energi terbarukan seperti panel surya yang dapat dibangun pada daerah terpencil dan minim infrastruktur. Penggunaan panel surya sendiri membutuhkan suhu optimal pada 25⁰C, sementara itu pada saat siang hari suhu pada panel surya bisa mencapai 45⁰C suhu optimal tersebut, dengan itu perlu adanya pengoptimalan suhu kerja pada panel surya dengan diberikan pendinginan untuk meningkatkan daya keluaran pada panel surya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendinginan pada panel surya yang menggunakan variasi pendinginginan air pada suhu 25-70⁰C. Hasil dari penelitian didapatkan rerata efisiensi pada panel surya yang bersuhu air 60-70°C 11,42,% dengan rerata daya keluaran 19,58W, rerata efisiensi panel surya dengan air bersuhu 25-28°C adalah 12,40% rerata daya keluaran 21,26W dan rerata efisiensi panel surya tanpa air adalah 11,86% dengan rerata daya keluaran 20,34W. Dan untuk pengujian panel surya dengan penambahan pendinginan memberikan pengaruh terhadap daya keluaran dan efisiensi yang dihasilkan oleh panel surya.

Abstract

The growth and development of technology in the construction sector which is increasingly advanced and rapid, cannot be separated from the process of joining similar metals or joining dissimilar metals. This dissimilar welding uses AISI 1045 stainless steel and SS 304 carbon steel with a size of 200 x 200 x 6 mm. The welding method uses GTAW with ER 309 L filler metal with a diameter of 2.4 mm. Dissimilar welding aims to understand the mechanical properties affected by heat input. This study varies the heat input of 1.08 kJ / mm and heat input of 0.83 kJ / mm. The tests carried out were microstructure observations, tensile tests and hardness tests. The results of the tensile test all fractures occurred in the SS 304 base metal with an average value of 886 MPa. The results of the hardness test showed that the fusion line point had a higher hardness value compared to the base metal. In the observation of the microstructure of the SS 304 fusion line area, it has ferrite and pearlite phases, for the weld metal area it has ferrite, austenite and dendritic phases, in the AISI 304 fusion line section it has ferrite and austenite phases. The effect of heat input can be concluded that heat input affects the HAZ and fusion line due to the increasing hardness value.

Abstract

Industri maritim ditunjang oleh keberadaan galangan kapal sehingga teknologi pengelasan Flux Core Arc Wellding (FCAW) digunakan dalam pembangunan kapal pembangkit listrik terapung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui dampak dari variasi ampere pada hasil pengelasan FCAW material Grade EH36 tebal 24 mm dengan material Grade A tebal 16 mm posisi flat (1G) pada main deck kapal. Dalam penelitian ini akan dianalisis pengaruh variasi ampere terhadap uji radiografi, struktur makro dan kuat tarik. Variasi ampere yang digunakan 160 A, 200 A dan 250 A. Pada hasil pengujian radiografi tidak ditemukan cacat pengelasan pada weld metal. Pada hasil pengamatan struktur makro tidak ditemukan cacat pengelasan. Hasil pengujian kuat tarik pada spesimen dengan variasi 160 A didapatkan nilai kekuatan luluh (yield strenght) 293,73 MPa dan nilai kekuatan tarik (ultimate strenght) 445,71 MPa, pada spesimen dengan variasi 200 A didapatkan nilai kekuatan luluh (yield strenght) 298,61 MPa dan nilai kekuatan tarik (ultimate strenght) 453,56 MPa sedangkan pada spesimen dengan variasi 250 A didapatkan nilai kekuatan luluh (yield strenght) 294,20 MPa dan nilai kekuatan tarik (ultimate strenght) 445,71 MPa

Abstract

Plastics have experienced a rapid increase in production over the last 70 years. Initially, in 1950, the world only produced 2 million tons, and now production is more than 450 million tons. Around a quarter of plastic waste is thrown away and needs to be appropriately managed, namely around 82 million tons. In other words, the waste is not disposed of in a proper disposal site, not recycled or burned. This research underwent several stages: literature study, data collection, extruder design, machine element calculations, analysis and discussion. Six types of materials will be used as objects for selecting extruder materials, including SS 410, SS 422, AISI 4140, AISI 4340, AISI 1144, and AISI 1045. Planning is carried out on the machine elements so that von Misses stress and deflection values ​​are obtained to determine the appropriate values. Extruder design planning. It was concluded that the highest Von Misses Stress value was obtained for all materials with variations in material length and width, namely 700 and 45 mm. The higher the length and diameter dimensions, the higher the von Misses stress value. The highest deflection value was obtained on Stainless Steel 410 material with variations in length and width of the material, namely 700 and 45 mm. The higher the length dimension of a material, the higher the deflection value.

Abstract

Based on the case study in the field, it was found that the casting product had surface defects in the form of cavities and was then repaired using a nickel electrode-based welding method. This repair was carried out to close the cavity defects so that a perfect casting shape was obtained. The material that has been welded has a different hardness from the base material, making it difficult to machining. This study aims to analyze the effect of welding on the ability of gray cast iron material that has been welded in terms of cutting tool wear and chip formation. The sample used was made of gray cast iron with a weld bead on its surface. Welding used a CIN-1 nickel electrode with the SMAW (shielded metal arc welding) welding method. Cutting was carried out using a conventional milling process using an HSS dovetail cutter. Observations were made through hardness testing on the base material, PMZ (partially melted zone), and weld metal which was continued with microstructure testing, wear measurement and chips formed. Based on the results of observations of FC 250 material that was welded on the base material, the microstructure formed was pearlite with graphite in the form of thin and long flakes. The microstructure in PMZ is formed by martensite and carbide, while the microstructure in weld metal consists of an austenite matrix with even distribution of graphite particles. The microstructure formed affects the hardness value of the material. From the observation, the hardness between weld metal and base material is not much different, namely 219 HV and 224 HV. The hardness in PMZ is 385 HV.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between machining parameters and tool wear (flank wear) in the milling process of amutite steel (SKS3) using a 12 mm diameter High-Speed Steel (HSS) endmill cutter. The machining parameters studied included cutting speed (Vc = 14 m/min and 18 m/min), feed rate (F = 30 mm/min and 75 mm/min), and depth of cut (Doc = 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 mm). The linear regression method was used to build a mathematical model relating these parameters to tool wear. Experimental data were obtained through a series of machining tests with predetermined parameter variations. The regression analysis results showed that tool wear or flank wear (Vb) was significantly affected by cutting speed (Vc), feed rate (F), and depth of cut (Doc), with constant and exponent values obtained through logarithmic transformation and regression analysis. The regression model obtained has a good level of accuracy in predicting tool wear, although there is a difference between the theoretical and actual Vb values. This discrepancy may be caused by factors not measured in the experiment, such as variations in workpiece material or environmental conditions. This research also provides that the 12 mm diameter HSS endmill cutter is proven to be capable of carrying out the depth-of-cutting process on amutite steel material in the Lagun FU 100 milling machine with the specified depth-of-cut.

Abstract

Green tea extract is a popular beverage known for its health benefits. To increase its market appeal, understanding the sensory profiles—taste, aroma, and color—of green tea extract is essential to ensure customer satisfaction. In this study, experiments were conducted to determine the optimal extraction conditions by varying extraction times (3 or 6 minutes) and temperatures (60°C, 80°C, or 100°C) in two brewing methods: (1) a relay-controlled brewing system utilizing Arduino, and (2) a standard brewing process without automated control. Sensory evaluations were conducted by 30 untrained panelists using a 9-point hedonic scale.. Decision-making methods, Rank Order Centroid (ROC) and Simple Additive Weighting (SAW), were then applied to identify the most preferred product. Results indicated that the highest taste score was achieved by the 80°C-6 min sample, while the best aroma and color scores were observed in the 100°C-3 min sample. Overall, the decision-making process using the combination of ROC and SAW methods concluded that the green tea extract from the 100°C-3 min sample was the most preferred by the panelists.
