Abstract

Madura Island is one of the major contributor of national salt demands, and the salt harvesting process is still done traditionally so that salt production is still lacking to meet national saltneeds. The design and manufacture of salt dredging toolsto help the salt harvesting process is on way to overcome this issue. This tool is designed by utilizing the blade function when dredging and conveyors is driven by the Honda Astrea Grand 100ccengine to help salt enter the container. The working system o this tool, hold and spills salt on container. This tool can accelerate the process of harvesting salt more than 100% rather than with a manual dredge. It’s as well function as saving energy eguipment.

Abstract

Fish scales are the result of fish waste that is often found in the community environment. Fish scales are usually immediately discarded In this study to a fish scales shredder was designed to destroy fish scales into powder. This machine uses crushed system consisting of 8 rotary blades and 4 fixed blades which are directly from the shaft of the electric motor. This machine is operated by using an electric motor by using an engine shaft, bearings and chopper blades. In this study, calculations, design and testing of fish scales shredder with experimental material, namely fish scales, leaves and twigs. In this study, the electric motor power used is 1 hp that can work 8 hours / day with an average production capacity of 10 kg / day. The diameter of the shaft used is 8 mm with S35C-D material. The results of this shredder research machine are more optimally used in leaf material.

Abstract

Joining three sheets by resistance spot welding was an increasing trend in automotive assembly. Effect parameter of welding such us voltage and welding times to physics and mechanical properties resistance spot weld joint dissimilar metals three sheets 316L, SS 400, J1 was determined. Electroda pressure was kept constant in this result. The parameter of welding was used in this experiment were 2.02; 2.30; 2.67 V and 3; 4; 5; 7.5 s. As a result of the experiment, it was determined that voltage 2.67 V and welding times 7.5 s result tensile shear load was 11.19 kN with pull out failure mode. The increasing of voltage and welding times cause higher fusion zone size along sheet/sheet interface. The area of HAZ was increased because there was an increase in the welding times. The higher hardness was a nugget because grain was formed columnar.

Abstract

Many people in Indonesia are having a serious safety issue in bringing their children to ride a motorcycle. A proper child seat is needed to guarantee the safety of the child and the rider itself. In this paper, the structural design of a child seat for a motorcycle using a spring-damper system is presented as a reference to build a safe and comfortable seat. Analysis of the static condition, dynamics condition, buckling, and also fatigue is also done calculated and it is resulting in some safety factors. The safety factors are found to be in the range of 1-11. Based on that analysis result, the conclusion that can be highlighted is that the child seat is safe. Due to some concern related to safety, this innovation is recommended to be applied for mass production, furthermore, improvement, and optimization is also possible for this design.

Abstract

The driving experience as the driving experience is one aspect that needs to be considered for success in increasing the number of vehicle sales. Therefore, it is not uncommon for automotive companies to launch models with different driving experiences for different users, for example SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) vehicles, for drivers who need vehicles that are responsive, agile and precise. Automotive companies are very aware of this, therefore trying to increase innovation in terms of technology by conducting trials on increasing vehicle performance including engines, gears, weight and aerodynamics. In this study, the focus will be on the research with 3 (three) types of torque converters tested on the test track using prototype vehicles and then compared with simulations. At the end of the study, a torque converter that has a Full Load Acceleration that is suitable for Porsche Cayenne vehicles with sport driving experience will be obtained.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a lighter and stronger construction material for the construction of the Admiral V2 electric car chassis. By using the Autodesk Inventor Pro 2020 software computation system with the Finite Element Analysis method. The analysis process was carried out in the Mechanical Engineering Design and Design lab at the Bengkalis State Polytechnic campus. Modeling is done by measuring the construction dimensions of the Admiral V2 electric car chassis. By analyzing the strength of the construction and varying the materials with the three materials used, namely stainless steel, 6061 aluminum and carbon steel. The results showed that carbon steel has a mass of 27.2494 kg with a construction strength of 77.3 Mpa stress, 3744 x10-4 strain, 1.5 mm displacement and a safety factor of 1.54.

Abstract

Penelitian ini tentang pemanfaatan kulit pisang kepok menjadi bubuk minuman kopi. Kulit pisang ini umumnya dihaluskan dengan menggunakan blender, namun kelemahannya adalah kapasitas produksinya lebih rendah, sehingga untuk memproduksi dalam jumlah banyak harus dilakukan proses berulang. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, maka dibuatlah sebuah mesin penghalus kulit pisang hingga menjadi bubuk dengan tingkat kehalusan bubuk kopi pada umumnya. Kulit pisang yang digunakan yaitu kulit pisang kepok matang. Proses penghalusan kulit pisang menggunakan mesin dengan menggunakan motor listrik sebesar ½ HP, dengan putaran pada poros penghalus yaitu 1050 rpm. Hasil pengujian dengan bahan uji dengan massa 500 gram yaitu dalam waktu 1 menit menghasilkan 215 gram, waktu 2 menit menghasilkan 225,7 gram, waktu 3 menit menghasilkan 250,7 gram.

Abstract

This research is a design of a potato cutting machine. The ultimate goal of making the machine is the production of potato cubes. In planning the machine will be processed to produce stick-shaped potato pieces. The machine design is made with dimensions of 660 mm x 800 mm x 710 mm using an electric motor ½ Hp. The system of lowering the rotation uses a pully and belt 1: 2 and continued with a gearbox with a ratio of 1:40, the way the engine works is to rotate the crankshaft to move the piston / potato suppressor with a rotation of 17.5 Rpm. The study was conducted 3 times with 1000 grams of potatoes with an average yield of 702 grams of good cut, 27 grams unsuccessful, 271 grams behind. The production capacity of this stick-shaped potato cutting machine is capable of cutting as much as 20.29 kg / hour with a machine production efficiency of 70.02%.

Abstract

Air blast freezer telah digunakan sebagai cara pembekuan cepat di unit pengolahan ikan sebelum dibekukan untuk waktu yang lama di dalam cold storage. Untuk itu penggunaan refrigeran hidrokarbon yang lebih ramah lingkungan telah menjadi tuntutan dan isu sentral pada masa yang akan datang. Makalah ini menyajikan studi kinerja teoritis penggunaan R290 dan R600a sebagai pengganti R404A dan R507A. Kinerja teoritis sistem didasarkan pada variasi temperatur evaporasi menggunakan perangkat lunak CoolPack dengan temperatur kondensasi dipertahankan konstan. Besaran-besaran penting yang dianalisis adalah laju aliran massa, rasio tekanan, temperatur keluar kompresor, pelepasan kalor, konsumsi daya, koefisien kinerja, efisiensi refrigerasi, dan konsumsi energi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pada temperatur evaporator minimum, kinerja sistem yang menggunakan R290 dan R600a rata-rata lebih tinggi ±14% dibandingkan dengan R404A dan R507A. R290 memiliki karakteristik yang lebih dekat pada R404A dan R507A sehingga lebih sesuai menggantikan kedua refrigeran tersebut dibandingkan dengan R600a. Namun, ini adalah analisis teoritis sistem yang dapat mengarah pada kinerja yang lebih tinggi daripada kondisi normal.

Abstract

Fatigue merupakan salah satu penyebab kerusakan dari suatu poros. Kerusakan fatigue tidak dapat diprediksi, bisa terjadi secara tiba-tiba. Oleh karena itu perlu diteliti lebih lanjut tentang penyebab kegagalan fatigue. Pada penelitian sebelumnya sudah banyak yang melakukan improvement pada material yang biasa digunakan sebagai poros untuk meningkatkan kekuatan fatigue, tetapi masih sedikit penelitian yang membahas pengaruh kondisi permukaan pada poros terhadap kekuatan fatigue. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh rasio geometri alur pasak poros terhadap kegagalan fatigue dengan melihat pada rasio kedalaman berapa material akan cepat patah. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode simulasi dengan software SolidWorks. Simulasi fatigue yang digunakan yaitu tipe rotary bending dengan standar pengujian ASTM E466. Varian rasio alur pasak yaitu 3:1 mm, 3:2 mm, dan 3:3 mm dengan masing-masing diberi beban 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, dan 80% dari ultimate tensile strength material. Hasil yang didapat pada beban 40% untuk varian 1,2,3 mencapai lebih dari 1.000.000 siklus sampai patah. Pembebanan 50% sama seperti pembebanan 40%. Pembebanan 60% varian 1 masih mencapai 1.000.000 siklus, sedangkan varian 2 mendapat 402.699 siklus, varian 3 mendapatkan 317.727 siklus sampai material patah. Pembebanan 70% varian 1 mendapatkan 641211, varian 2 mendapatkan 201.348 siklus, varian 3 mendapatkan 166.116 siklus sampai material patah. Pembebanan 80% varian 1 mendapatkan 311.218 siklus, varian 2 mendapatkan 123.921 siklus, varian 3 mendapatkan 102.371 siklus sampai material patah. Dengan posisi patah yang sama pada setiap fillet alur pasak.
