Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effects of role modeling, habituation, and supervision in moral education on the development of students’ Islamic character at MTs Al-Kifayah. This study employed a quantitative approach using a qualitative design. The population consisted of all 82 students at MTs Al-Kifayah. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression. The findings indicated that role modeling had a positive and significant effect on students’ Islamic character, contributing 34.3% to its variance. Habituation also had a positive and significant effect, contributing 41.2%, making it the most dominant factor. Supervision had a positive and significant effect, contributing 35.8%. Simultaneously, role modeling, habituation, and supervision significantly influenced students’ Islamic character, with a coefficient of determination of 65.0%. These findings demonstrate that Islamic character development is more effective when moral education is implemented integratively through exemplary behavior, habituation of positive conduct, and continuous supervision. Accordingly, this study proposes the Modeled–Habituated–Supervised (MHS) framework as an integrative approach to strengthening students’ Islamic character.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low short story writing skills of elementary school students, characterized by a lack of interest in writing, difficulties in constructing sentences, and the inability to express ideas coherently in written form. Teacher-centered learning also caused students to be less active in the learning process. This study aimed to determine the effect of using animated video media on improving short story writing skills in Indonesian language learning for third-grade students at SD Negeri 70 Banda Aceh. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 23 students. Data were collected through short story writing tests administered before and after the treatment. The data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test to determine the difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and post-test. The results showed that the mean pre-test score of 49.57 increased to 79.57 in the post-test, with an average improvement of 30 points. The statistical test results indicated a t-value of -8.066 with a significance value (Sig. 2- tailed) of 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. This indicates that the use of animated video media had a significant effect on improving students’ short story writing skills. In conclusion, animated video media is effective in teaching writing as it enhances motivation, supports idea development, and improves students’ writing structure. It is recommended that teachers creatively utilize technology-based learning media, schools provide adequate supporting facilities, and future researchers expand the study to different grade levels or variables.
