Abstract

This research was conducted at the Small and Medium Industry (IKM) of batik in the district of Sidoarjo, which is one of 15 districts in East Java who chose One Village One Product (OVOP) as strategies increase the power of competitiveness. There are many problems with SME batik ranging from resources, production processes to product sales, which affect the chosen competitiveness strategy. The respondents were entrepreneurs, the office of SMEs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the sub-district, and the village. This research aims to identify the inhibiting factors of increasing competitiveness in the small and medium batik industry in the district of Sidoarjo. The data collection process uses a questionnaire compiled with the Green Innovation approach with five main variables, Green Resource, Green Process, Green Product, Green Innovation, and Competitive Advantage. Green Innovation is a process of continuous innovation that considers the integration of the environment, finance, social systems in the company from the stage of ideas through research and development and commercialization that affect new products, services, technology, business, and organizational models. Determination of alternatives and strategy analysis using the Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) approach is a method that uses the opinions of experts on the questionnaire that has been distributed. Based on the analysis results, 14 inhibiting factors and six priority levels were obtained, with the highest value of the power driver in the training and outreach factor (10) as the main inhibiting factor in increasing competitiveness. Therefore, it requires the involvement of all parties related to the batik SMEs to improve their competitiveness and the strategies they choose.

Abstract

Purpose: Malaysia is one of the developing countries that facing high road accident in Asia. The most common accident happens is between motorcyclist and cars. A motorcyclist is 17 times more dangerous than passenger cars. Analysis shows the three main types of accidents in Malaysia is collision with passenger cars, collisions with other motorcycles and single-motorcycle accidents. Road accidents keep rising in Malaysia, because lacks of road geometric design consistency where the drivers make mistakes errors due to the road geometric features. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted at F0050 from km 21 until km 25. By using GPS (DG -200), the continuous speed profile data were using new analysis method to develop road design consistency profile of motorcycle and cars and determined the value of the index the integrated road design consistency (IC). Findings: The developments of consistency model are based on parameter: the bounded area between the profile and the average speed, standard deviation of speed along a segment. Hence, use ACAD software for develops consistency model’s profile. The integrated-consistency model is the impact of the speed profile on design consistency in traffic and safety evaluations. The highest areas of an accident at km 24 are justified based on the design consistency of the area and integrated design consistency model between of car and motorcycle is poor design. The study shows that crashes and fatalities are fully effected by traffic volumes but road design performances and driving behavior. Research limitations/implications: However, the traffic volumes are relatively low in the whole country regarding to the Movement Control Order (MCO) due to the pandemic COVID-19 since March 2020. In contrast to the reduction of the volumes, the number of crashes still shows relatively high. Therefore, it shows that crashes and fatalities are influenced by other factors. Geometric factors such as access point, tangent length, curve length, shoulder width, and lane width are influencing an operating speed profile for developed tangents and curves of motorcycle and cars. Practical implications: The result of this study can be used as references to solve accident problems in Malaysia. Paper type: This study is categorized as a case study.

Abstract

The transformation of learning at special schools during the covid-19 pandemic is done at home through the implementation of online learning. The aim of online learning is to provide the best teaching for students with special needs based on their potential and characteristics. The interesting and unique characteristics of students affects the important of management in online learning. Indeed, providing education services remains a top priority which can be done with respect to some components namely: 1) Enhance self-motivation and commitment, 2) Create schedule and learning journal once a week with regards to the characteristics of the students, 3) Collaborate and coordinate with parents and teachers, 4) Evaluate by providing ratings and give rewards to students so that students feel enthusiast during learning at home during in this covid-19 pandemic. The whole component is carried out in an integrated and continuous holistic manner, so that the transformation in the learning process in special schools can be carried out in line with students’ characteristics.

Abstract

Purpose: Proposed course content for each group age is outlined from the early age of a child to the university education system. However, these course contents are a recommendation which indicates the importance of continuity to ensure that the young generations will subsequently not only aware of preserving the environment and its surroundings but, will also work hard to improve the existing situation of the world for a quality environment and a better place to live. Design/methodology/approach: These programs and activities include the awareness and sensitivity to the depleting greens, flora, and fauna, the climatic change due to human activities, and the pollution to soil and groundwater. Humans, animals, and other living things rely greatly on soil, water air, and the sun. Findings: Thus, it is critical to inculcate better understanding and creating a more caring society to ensure the sustainability of the earth for the future existence of mankind. Research limitations/implications: In this paper, a discussion on the need of introducing environmental geotechnics to young generations as early as in the pre-school education is deemed necessary as being conducted by most developed countries. Practical implications: Developing countries such as Malaysia must start now to ensure that existing resources such as its soils and groundwater quality are preserved as the country continue to strive in becoming a developed and modern country by the year 2020. Originality/value: Claim your originality here. Paper type: Research paper.

Abstract

Purpose: This paper discusses what is social perception, social perception aspects of non-verbal communication, attribution, and impression formation, and also some suggestions on how social perception affected cultures. Design/methodology/approach: Describe your method here. This research is a literature study research. The first step was to collect literature relevant to the topic. The second step was data reduction, which is reduced data and chosen the main data. The third step was presented the data and the last step was concluded. Findings: Impaired social perception can have serious social consequences. For example, an adolescent boy might misread a girl’s sympathetic smile as a romantic invitation, and proceed to respond in a sexually offensive manner or a child might misread a peer’s teasing gesture as a threat and react aggressively. In these cases, the socially unsuccessful responses were not a result of inadequate social skills. Rather, they resulted from social “misreading”, that is, impaired social perception. Not surprisingly, the more we get to know someone, the more accurate we are at describing their traits and motives. Even when judging people we know well, however, the shortcuts we use sometimes lead to mistaken impressions. As these examples suggest, effective social perception contributes in important ways to social success, peer acceptance, and friendship. Research limitations/implications: This research is a literature review research. Further empirical research is needed. Practical implications: Results of this research can be used as references in appraisal on social perception about communication and psychology. Originality/value: This paper is original. Paper type: A literature review

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find a solution during the pandemic recovery covid-19 with the strengthening of alternative food entrepreneurship sorghum. The research method uses qualitative research methods in entrepreneurship, descriptive qualitative action research with data collection techniques in the form of observation and documentation, after the data collected is then analyzed statistically descriptive. The results showed that sorghum can be used as a national food stock facing a crisis and pandemic covid-19, sorghum food stock in the form of grains, rice, flour, soft brand sorghum, and various processed sorghum. National sorghum food stock strategy includes strengthening clusters and production centers, silo utilization cooperation, socialization of various sorghum products, and strengthening Center of Sorghum Entrepreneur (CSE) and Sorghum Entrepreneurship Unit (SEU).
