Abstract

As an effort to improve the subgrade, some construction projects use petrasoil material to increase the carrying capacity of the soil, for example in the construction of the "Improvement of the Tabarfane-Hokmar Soil Road (Chemical Petrasoil)” in Aru sub-district. Previous research on increasing the carrying capacity of the soil have been done using petrasoil, but the results indicated no soil carrying-capacity increase. On the contrary, another study successfully used fly ash on swamps to increase the soil carrying-capacity. Based on these two studies, the current research combined the two additives, namely, fly ash and petrasoil, to increase soil carrying-capacity and get an optimal additive composition. Some tests have been carried out, i.e. the index properties test, compaction test, and CBR test using AASHTO and ASTM standards. Fly ash mixtures were prepared in several composition percentages, i.e. 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, while the mixture of petrasoil and water is 1 kg: 1000 liters. The results showed that there was an increase in soil bearing capacity based on the largest CBR value in the variation of mixed soil with petrasoil and fly ash by 20% which is equal to 19.7% of the CBR value of original soil without additives.

Abstract

Drip irrigation can be used to meet crop water needs and save water on dry land in Indonesia which reaches 89 percent. However, the price for one emitter is still quite expensive. To overcome such problem, a study was conducted on the performance of drip type micro irrigation with local-made emitters. By knowing the performance of the drops studied, an efficient alternative drip irrigation technique can be obtained. Performance test using a prototype was carried out at the Hydraulics Laboratory of Balai Irigasi using the observation and the trial and error methods. The results showed the optimal drip uniformity values for the 5 minutes aerator faucet emitter was 76.56% and for 0.2 bar pressure was 72.42%; for the 5 minutes infusion clamp emitter was 87.07% and for 1 bar pressure was 71.01 %; the 5 minutes cable terminal emitter was 67.09% and for 0.2 bar pressure was 84.62%.

Abstract

Several coastal areas in Indonesia are at risk of moderate to high tsunami disasters, this is related to the condition that Indonesia is located in an earthquake high risk area. At this time there are many buildings located on the coast with a low-rise stilt house system with the main structural system, namely beams and columns using timber materials. The building structure design includes the performance evaluation process, namely strength, stiffness and structural stability. The purpose of this research is to study the evaluation behavior of performance levels, especially the strength and stiffness of low-rise timber buildings, namely the level of structural performance due to gravity and lateral loads, namely sea waves. The research scope is a three-story building with a beam and column frame structure system. Columns are circular and beams have a square cross section. The loads taken into account are gravity and lateral. The strengths discussed are the bending capacity of the beam and the compressive capacity of the column. In order to obtain building behavior that is closer to real conditions, especially in beam-column joints, secondary data is used, namely empirical data on the envelope load-deformation curve of the beam-column joint test results in the laboratory (modeled as link property). Evaluation of structural performance begins with structural analysis using SAP2000 software, to obtain internal forces and building drift. The results show that the use of link properties in beam-column joint joints in the timber building structures shows greater deformation results compared to rigid joint models, this indicates that modeling the structure with beam-column joint joints modeled as link property has an impact on building stiffness. Lower and represents the condition of a timber building with beam-column joint characteristics closer to the actual condition. The existence of a hole size in the column (to insert the beam) which is larger than the cross-sectional size of the beam results in the rotation of the joint not being zero and a slip occurs when the joint works to transmit internal forces.

Abstract

The Kali Jubang Bridge, located on the Pejagan Toll Road, West Brebes, Indonesia, has oprit-embankment elevation of 7m. The soil structure in the area around Kali Jubang is the soft-brownish clay. Soft clay has a low bearing capacity and high compressibility. Therefore, these issues caused the occurrence of landslides, broken bridge plates, and different surface level which causes bumpy pavement and danger to road users. Hence, it is necessary to reinforce the oprit of the Kali Jubang. The design of geotexstile was conducted to improve the bearing capacity by using a geotextile with tensile strength (Tult) of 150 kN/m2. Results found that the initial embankment (Hinitial) was 8.9 m to anticipate the 1.9 m consolidation decrease . The geotextile was designed with 35 layers using a layer thickness of 0.25m, a top fold length of 1m, and an appropriate length for the width of the embankment for each layer.

Abstract

The Bener Dam Plan, located in Bener District, Purworejo Regency, Indonesia, has a diversion tunnel. Determination of the appropriate excavation method is very important and necessary to maintain effectiveness and efficiency in the process of implementing the circumvention tunnel construction. The determination of the excavation method is also important for the implementation costs calculation. This research aims to support the planning of determining the appropriate excavation method of the Bener Dam Diversion Tunnel as well as what activities are needed to see the geological conditions of rock in the tunnel both above and below the surface for analysis to determine the excavation. The excavation method was determined by empirical method based on the input parameters of rock conditions, i.e. rock quality, density of discontinuity plane in the rock, and rocks compressive strength. The condition of the tunnel alignment is dominated by good quality andesite breccias (good rock). The empirical analysis of the excavation method shows that the Bener Dam Diversion Tunnel mostly requires a very hard type of blasting (blasting). Another type, i.e. the ripping excavation, is also required.

Abstract

The use of roadsides as parking spaces in the Pangkalpinang Plaza - Bangka Trade Center Area, if managed optimally, can be a source of Regional Original Income for Pangkalpinang City. The determination of this area as one of the on-street parking zones has the potential to be a significant contributor to parking fees revenue in Pangkalpinang City. Therefore, a study is needed to know the potential for parking fees in the Pangkalpinang Plaza - Bangka Trade Center Area to the Original Regional Income of Pangkalpinang City. The potential for parking fees revenue in Pangkalpinang City is analyzed based on three types of tariff conditions, consist of official tariffs, current tariffs, and adjustment tariffs. The results of the analysis of the potential parking fees for on-street parking in the Pangkalpinang Plaza - Bangka Trade Center Area shows that on-street parking fees revenue in this area has greats potential for the Original Regional Income of Pangkalpinang City. However, the management of the retribution receipt has not been carried out optimally, so that the revenue from this source is still low. Besides, coordination and transparency in managing parking fees also need to be improved. Furthermore, this research is expected to be used as a consideration for the government in making parking policies to optimize the receipt of parking fees in this area.

Abstract

Bridge inspection is the process of collecting physical data to ensure that the bridge is safe and thus securing the investment value of the bridge. Inspection results are used for planning the program of maintenance, rehabilitation, strengthening, and replacement of bridges. In this study, the assessment of the Atinggola bridge condition, located in Gorontalo Province, Indonesia, uses the reference standard from the Bridge Management System 1993, including the bridge top structure, the bridge bottom structure, complementary structures, and the river basin around the bridge. Previous bridge condition data which are based on the inspection result in 2017 are used as a comparison for the future. Condition values are used to predict the remaining life of a bridge using an equation developed by Bina Marga. Overall result shows the value of the bridge condition is 2 with the predicted remaining life of the bridge is 18.88 years. These results indicate that the bridge suffered minor damage and need routine maintenance. Therefore, the bridge is able to perform optimally until the end of the planned life.

Abstract

Columns are the most important element in a structure. Indonesian concrete regulations SNI 2847-2013 states that columns are elements that receive a minimum axial and bending loads of 0.1 Pu. Column damage can occur due to overloading damage, poor detailing in design, poor construction, etc. However, the most frequent damage is post-earthquake damage. The easiest reinforcement is the concrete jacketing method. The reinforcement material used in this research is bamboo. The test was done using the Quasi Static Loading Test method with lateral loads according to the displacement control and constant axial load. The results showed that the reinforcement by concrete jacketing from the initial dimensions of 15x15x90 cm to 21x21x90 cm showed the increase of lateral capacity, ductility, stiffness, and energy dissipation. In addition, it can be seen that the effect of reinforcement on both damaged and undamaged columns is less significant, which means that reinforcement can restore the initial capacity of existing test specimens to exceed 100%.

Abstract

Engineering modeling is becoming a trend and important because it can simulate a variety of decision scenarios to be applied in the field. With limited facilities and technology, 1-D modeling in hydraulics for flood mitigation is still a trend today. What are the weaknesses of this model and how is the prediction of future modeling trends? This study analyzes the flood modeling of the Tuntang River with the 1-D model using HEC-RAS to analyze the condition of the existing water level profile and flood mitigation scenarios with normalization. The results of the analysis show that the 1-D model can describe conditions in the field and scenarios clearly. However, the 1-D model has limitations because it cannot carry out simulations that consider aspects of construction costs, time, and budget allocation of stakeholders to determine the priority scale of disaster-affected areas. It requires a vulnerability analysis with field observations, 2-D or 3-D modeling, and the application of value engineering to optimize flood control strategies. With the advancement of technology, this trend is predicted to be something that will be done in the future.

Abstract

Problem on the road access landfill at Balang Island II Bridge is the landslide at STA 23+025 on left side slope (BH-1) caused by a swamp pond on the roadside. The landfill that cutted into the swampy area made the water get stuck on one side (water could not flow to the original condition). The research method is the form of direct observation in the field which focuses on the results of information and laboratory testing which is then processed and analyzed. The analysis obtained that the soil type on the spot is clay with N-SPT 6 – 29. There are 2 alternatives solutions for the problem. First, if there is a ROW problem, the treatments are watercourse, adding counterweight, wooden pile under the landfill and one layer Geotextile PP 50 (initial ground water level on exsisting condition with 90,4 kPa loads). Second, if there is no ROW problem, the treatments are watercourse, adding counterweight, wooden pile under the landfill and one layer Geotextile PET 100 (initial ground water level on top of landfill with 90,4 kPa loads). Based on technical analysis, the second solution was chosen because it has bigger safety factor, smallest settlement value, and shorter time implementation. However it is still need more detail technical justification to strengthen the desicion.
