Abstract

The demand for Indonesian nurses to work abroad has increased over the last five years. The challenge is that the orientation of the nursing education curriculum in Indonesia is still local, not yet leading to international standards. As a result, only a small number of nurses passed the selection, the process is longer, and the recruitment cost is higher. Therefore, this review aims to identify the global need for Indonesian nurses and provide an overview of the importance of structured planning in terms of nursing education curriculum related to job opportunities overseas. The study grouped, allocated, organized, and used relevant library variations. Researchers conducted a literature study regarding the demand for Indonesian nurses, the development of education and curriculum from several sources such as the Ministry of Health, the Indonesian Migrant Workers and Protection Agency (BP2MI), the Ministry of Higher Education, World Health Organization (WHO), as well as the latest journals, from 2016 to 2021. The data were reviewed, analyzed and alternative solutions were identified. The analytical review shows the demands on Indonesian nurses keep on growing. The magnitude of this demand is an opportunity as well as challenges that need to be anticipated earlier in terms of the nursing education curriculum and the Government policymakers. Abstract

The prevalence of heart failure is high. More than 23 million patients worldwide and is believed to continue to increase to 46% in 2030. In America, the prevalence of heart failure is around 6 million patients per year. Meanwhile, heart failure in Asia is the highest in the world. To identify instruments for assessing patients with heart failure that used in Asia. This is a scoping review that follows the methodology of Arksey and O'Malley. We use 6 databases, namely Proquest, PubMed, EBSCO, Science Direct, ClinicalKey For Nursing, and Garuda. Articles in English and Indonesian were published between 2015 and 2020. We also did additional searches that met the inclusion criteria. Based on duplication, 2037 articles were left, then 1981 articles were screened. Then, 56 full-text articles were selected in the eligibility criteria, and the last 29 articles were selected for the synthesis. A total of 6 instruments were identified. We discussed the method, domain, and duration of assessments. The selection of instruments needs to be adapted to the epidemiological characteristics of the population. Diabetes mellitus is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by hyperglycemia. In fact, diabetes is a disease that can occur due to genetic factors. The longer you have diabetes, the worse your quality of life will be. Interventions that can be used to improve the quality of life of patients by conducting genetic counseling. However, this intervention is still rarely implemented. Therefore, this study aims to assess the effect of genetic counseling on the quality of life in people with diabetes mellitus. This study used a Quasi-Experimental Without Control Group design with a pretest and posttest design. The sample used was 38 people, data collection was done by filling out a quality of life questionnaire (SF-36). A paired-Sample T-Test was used to test the hypothesis. Genetic counseling has an influence on the participants' quality of life (p < 0.05). This treatment needs to be carried out in daily nursing practice because there are benefits to the quality of life of diabetic patients.

Abstract

Physical activity plays an important role in controlling blood glucose level and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases in patients with diabetes. COVID-19 pandemic causes movement restrictions that can affect physical activity in patients with diabetes. This review aimed to describe the physical activity of patients with diabetes during the COVID-19 pandemic. A scoping review of three journal databases including PubMed, SCOPUS, and ScienceDirect was conducted to locate articles that reported physical activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Articles are selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria based on the flowchart of the PRISMA-ScR. There were 11 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that during the COVID-19 pandemic there was a change in the level, type, and place of physical activity in patients with diabetes. The level of physical activity of patients varies with the majority of research showing a decrease in physical activity levels. While the type and place of physical activity turn into physical activity that can be done at home. This review recommended that facilitation should be implemented to increase the motivation and awareness to perform physical activities. Abstract

As we have seen during the times, the prevalence of COVID-19 is going to be increased worldwide. A total of 183,560,151 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including 3,978,581 deaths was reported. This data surprised all healthcare professionals such as nurses working in the hospital and primary care in the community. As the consequence, a call for massive intervention is urgently needed particularly in Indonesia. This can be achieved by optimizing health promotion in the community, opening research grants for nurses, recruiting nursing volunteers, and coordinating with the government along with stakeholders in the healthcare services. In addition to that, a scientific publication focusing on innovative care is also essential to support the ongoing health policy. We finally hope, this pandemic will end soon. However, we must be ready to live with COVID-19 as they will always stay with us, forever.
