Abstract

This research examines the form relations of artificial fishing lure designs created from the inspiration of living creatures. The study was conducted to identify the various forms of artificial fishing lures and the types of living things they imitate, by collecting data on artificial fishing lures through direct observation, internet studies, and literature studies. The research method used was qualitative with a collective or compound case study approach. It was found that not all artificial fishing lures are realistically similar to living creatures, even in the category of metal wire baits, the shapes tend to be abstract and difficult to guess, but can still be used for fishing. It was also found that some of these baits when used have simulated movements like living things because there are various features that support their bodies such as weights, pendulums, rotating blades and so on. The results of this research can be used as recommendations for developing aspects of design forms based on the Biomimicry method in making decisions to solve problems in the scientific field of product design.

Abstract

This research attempts to study the management of multifunctional furniture design in urban parks. Multifunctional furnitureis a product that can be used for various activities, but it is essential to consider the This research attempts to study the management of multifunctional furniture design in urban parks. Multifunctional furniture is a product that can be used for various activities, but it is essential to consider the design safety standards, especially from the aspect of its functionality design, because this furniture is located in crowded public areas. Field reviews show that many product facility designs have inadequate safety and comfort standards, which can adversely affect visitors, such as injuries, accidents, and negative behaviors and perceptions. Based on this, the research aims to align the management process of the functional design of urban park facilities with the visitors' motivation for activities. In the audit process, the researcher uses the concept development principles of the Function-Behavior-Structure (FBS) method, which is a theory of product design safety activation to determine priority facilities that need attention based on the types of design elements used. This research was conducted in a comprehensive type park in the city of Surabaya, specifically the Surabaya Zoo (KBS), using quantitative descriptive analysis methods. The results of this study indicate the need for recommendations for facility product designs that are safer and more functional.

Abstract

The increasing human population with limited land in urban areas encourages people to live in narrow areas such as apartments, boarding houses, flats, and other living spaces that related to the function of the furniture to be designed. Plus covid-19 virus outbreak which has entered many people to work from home (WFH). With the help of technological developments that make it possible for someone to be more flexible to work anywhere and anytime without having to be physically present at the office where they work. This way of working and lifestyle makes many people need furniture that can accommodate their work activities flexibly in narrow dwellings, using processed plastic waste as a market attraction. This design uses the design thinking method, starts from observing the introduction of the characteristics of the plastic waste recycling process, collecting data and literature related to design problems, extracting ideas, and studying the typology of similar products as a basis for determining the concept of design boundaries, and developing the resulting final design. Through the steps taken, in the end, it will produce furniture made from processed plastic waste that is of visual quality, function, and market need for narrow dwellings. So, the resulting furniture is useful and brings positive things to users.

Abstract

Rehal is a support or stand with a certain height and slope used to place the holy book of the Qur'an in order to provide comfort, clarity and convenience for people who use it when reading the Qur’an when sitting on their knees, cross-legged, sitting on a chair or when standing. The focus of this research will be to design a rehal for the use of a cross-legged sitting position on the floor. The concept of design refers to the development stage that has been carried out by several previous studies in the form of a new design concept, from environmentally friendly materials, height is more than the height of the belly button. The research method is carried out with the stages of literature study to set product boundaries, design, review designs, make product prototypes and test designed products. The results of the study were in the form of a rehal with a new design made of multiplex material coated with pvc sheet, height size 30 cm, has a slope of 45 ° position of the Qur'an when used. The results of the rehal test are able to support the Qur'an up to A4 size with a stable position and visibility when reading the top and bottom rows is only 4 cm apart, so rehal provide comfort when used, compared to Rehal in general, the difference in visibility between the top row and the bottom row reaches 20 cm. The slope of the Qur'an is generally a horizontal slope while the result of the design with a vertical slope so that it will feel better than before.

Abstract

The use of used vehicle tire waste which can generate profits in everyday life is an interesting discussion regarding the application of tire demolition material as one of the furniture elements in its application to interior design using Derrida's theory of deconstruction. This paper aims to discuss the process of deconstructing furniture in interior design. This paper is aimed at examining the theory of deconstruction in order to transform the meaning of an object from a four-wheeled vehicle tire. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, while the data collection methods used are online observation, online documentation and library search with a semiotic approach in interpreting the research object in the aspect of material exploration furniture deconstruction. The main literature refers to the Semiotic Language Philosophy Book by Prof. Dr. Kaelan and the theory of deconstruction by the philosopher Jacques Derrida. The results of research on semiotic studies with the theory of deconstruction that transform meaning by Derrida resulted in the conclusion that vehicle tire waste can be transformed by means of deconstruction theory by destruction and then reconstruction so as to produce a new meaning in the tire waste into a furniture stool in its application. This renewal can occur because of the transformation of the meaning of a four-wheeled vehicle tire that is damaged (damaged) resulting in a used tire whose meaning is reconstructed into a stool.

Abstract

Tokopedia is one of the companies in Indonesia that has a unicorn status. With a vision to build a platform that allows anyone to start and find anything and anywhere, Tokopedia also supports Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and individuals to develop their businesses through application. Even so, this does not guarantee that all Tokopedia users can really easily use the application. The baby boomer generation is a generation that faces more difficulties in processing new or complex information, thus affecting their learning about new technologies, including the user interface design of an application. The purpose of this study is to understand how the user interface elements are applied to the Tokopedia application and how the baby boomer affordance to the Tokopedia application user interface design. The method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. The results show that the user interface design elements of the Tokopedia application in the perception of baby boomer generation are always related to design elements, use of color, and layout. Some of these elements have been understood by the user's function. Nevertheless, there are some technical things, such as the use of free space, that users still don't understand. Thus, Tokopedia still has to make some improvements to the application's user interface design.

Abstract

The development of the fashion industry is influenced by rapid trend changes from time to time. This rapid change in trends ultimately gave rise to the fast fashion industry with the ready-to-wear concept, resulting in fashion products at low prices and produced in large quantities and quickly. This phenomenon has become a new problem in the fashion industry, namely the large amount of fashion waste produced, resulting in environmental pollution due to non-degradable waste. This problem can be overcome by starting education through fashion enthusiasts. The purpose of this study is to create casual clothing from upcycle results and evaluate it through aesthetic design principles. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. Data obtained through primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained from structured interviews with expert panelists while secondary data was obtained from the results of a literature review. The data obtained is then studied further to determine the aesthetic assessment of uocycle products based on design principles. The results obtained from this research are that all products created have implemented design principle indicators so that they meet the product indicators that have aesthetic value in the appearance of design principles.

Abstract

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder defined by impairing levels of inattention, disorganization, and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity. The prevalence of ADHD is reported to continue increasing every year. In fact, the high need for ADHD children to get treatment is not matched by the availability of a number of psychologists. This makes hard for children with ADHD to access a psychologist due to limited reach and resources. Therefore, we need a tool that can help the therapy process. Buddy is a digital innovation that has a feature such as schedule lists, video role models, and a token shop that can make it easier for psychologists and parents to customize it. Psychologists can freely arrange intervention designs (schedule lists and rewards) according to criteria for ADHD children being handled. This study aims to find out how the prediction of the usefulness of the Buddy application prototype using the token economy approach through prototype visualization can solve the problem of ADHD child Intervention. The method used is research and development (R&D) which produces a UI design-based token economy procedure. This design generates 22 UI mock-up pages that represent the application model

Abstract

Gardening belongs to the recent activity or trend that can be done by all ages. In addition, these activities can hinder people from all daily problems and also become healthy routines that can be done on the sidelines of routine work. However, the conditions for urban residents, especially Surabaya has made gardening difficult to do because of limited land. Besides, the high population in Surabaya which reaches 2.7 million people has caused the settlements density increasing. This research concerned with the problem of hydroponic gardening facilities for limited land and household scale by utilizing verticulture hydroponic techniques and modern technology, so that people can implement a healthy lifestyle by consuming and producing organic vegetable products without using pesticides. This study employed a mix method by combining the methods of qualitative (research method based on intensive observation and interviews) and quantitative (research method based on the results of a questionnaire that will become supporting data in the study). Furthermore, the case studies were conducted in 2 places, Surabaya and Sidoarjo. The design applied auto-control and clean design concepts and this research obtained 5 design developments. The final design was resulted from a visual questionnaire; the development of design 4 using a modular system so that it is easy to disassemble and the user will be convenient to apply the product. Next, the production process was carried out within the scale 1:1 and closed with conclusions and suggestions.

Abstract

Having a pet is a hobby for some people to relieve stress or boredom, because their behavior is considered fun and attractive. Interaction between humans and pets occured in many areas in the house, caused positive psychological effects for their owners. However, the observation showed that not many owners pay attention to the facilities between humans and their pets. This caused a lack of place for interaction and a place to do activities in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The design purpose is to help owners and pets do their activity together, and have a close relationship between each other. The design method is design thinking with the stages of understand, define, point of view, idea, prototype, test, and implement. The concept of this design is "merge", which means combining or joining. The final products are 3 sets of alternative designs and 1 set of realized pet furnituree, consist of storage cabinets, chairs, tables, and sidetable. The knockdown system is applied to this design so that the packaging and the product assembling is more practical and simpler. Activities they can do together, for example, when relaxing, watching TV, reading, or eating-drinking, they still can interact while using this product.
