Abstract

The objectives of this research were to provide data on fishing gears and methods in fisheries reserve of Sungai Sambujur, South kalimantan. Data were collected by purposive sampling survey method. The result showed that there were 6 fishing gears operated in Sungai Sambujur fisheries reserve: hampang, pengilar, lukah, luntak, rengge and kawat. Fishing gear which was able to catch fish with the most variety was hampang, followed by luntak, rengge, lukah, pengilar and kawat. Fish catching season was from May to December and July was a peak of catching season. On the other hand, the height of water level occured from 2 to 7 m.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to observe the genetic gain value of 5 months white tilapia breeders of fi fth generation (F5) Singapore strain (ss) Janti compared with fourth generation (F4) and to revealed the differential selection value of 5 months white tilapia breeders of F5 ss Janti from average weight of top 100 compared to average weight of the population. Research was done for 5 months white tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) breeders of F5 ss Janti. The tilapia cultured in running water system for a month. The research performed for 5 months white tilapia breeders of ss Janti through individual selection method (selective breeding). The white tilapia breeders ss strain used in this research consisted of 400 male and 400 female. The selection of the white tilapia was done randomly. Parameter measured included total weight, length, survival rate, feed amount and water quality for culturing. The result showed that the F5 had increased growth weight of each individual with genetic gain value against the F4 was 30.12 % for the male and 27.92 % for female. The genetic gain value was better than several other selective breeding of tilapia before. The top 100 average weight of the 5 months white tilapia Janti breeders of F5 ss strain (184.03 ± 22.87 g to 224.88 ± 24.31 g) was  higher than average weight of the population (131.27 ± 38.98 g to 163.31 ± 47.17 g). The differential selection value of white tilapia breeders was 37.70 g for male and 40.19 g for female. The weight of male tilapia population was less various than female ones.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan sosial petambak dalam 25 tahun (1986–2011) dan faktor-faktor penyebab perubahan tersebut di Kelurahan Karanganyar Kecamatan Tugu Semarang. Penelitian menggunakan metode sensus terhadap kelompok responden petambak yang masih aktif dan mantan petambak, yang masing-masing berjumlah 31 orangpetambak aktif dan 12 orangmantan petambak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa telah terjadi perubahan struktur sosial, organisasi, dan kegiatan ekonomi petambak dalam seperempat abad terakhir. Lapisan kaya saat penelitianini dilakukan(2011) adalah pemilik tambakyang lahannya sudah dijual ke pabrik, tetapi masih dapat digarap sendiri dan pemilik tambak yang lahannya belum dijual ke pabrik, tetapi masih ada orang yang menyewa. Lapisan menengah yaitu penggarap yang memiliki luas garapan besar (>2 ha). Lapisan miskin terdiri atas buruh tambak, pemilik tambak yang lahan tambaknya belum dijual ke pabrik tetapi tidak ada orang yang menyewa, dan penggarap yang memiliki luas garapan kecil (< 2 ha). Organisasi yang terbentuk adalah dua kelompok petambak. Golongan pemilik dan penggarap sebagian besar menjadi wirausahawan, sedangkan golongan buruh menjadi buruh pabrik. Perubahan tata guna lahan dari kawasan tambak menjadi kawasan industri, penurunan produktivitas tambak, serta tingkat abrasi pantai yang sangat tinggi menjadi faktor penting perubahan sosial tersebut. Strategi adaptasi yang didukung oleh rekayasa sosial (social engineering) diperlukan untuk menanggapi berbagai perubahan tersebut.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh pemasangan sirip peredam terhadap stabilitas kapal yang dilengkapi dengan palka bersirip peredam. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan cara simulasi numeric dan dianalisis secara numeric-comparative. Dari hasil kajian diketahui bahwa keberadaan sirip peredam mampu mengurangi penurunan nilai lengan penegak (righting arm, GZ ), sudut oleng kapal pada saat menghasilkan lengan penegak maksimal (aGZ maks), initial GM dan peningkatan nilai rolling period.Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh pemasangan sirip peredam terhadap stabilitas kapal yang dilengkapidengan palka bersirip peredam. Abstract

Clown loach (Chromobotia macracanthus Bleeker) or botia is an endemic species of Indonesia belonging to Cobitidae family which has restricted distribution only in Sumatra in Pangabuang, Kwanten, Batanghari, Teluk Betung, Musi riverines, and in Kalimantan found in Barito, Kahayan, Kapuas, Bongan dan Mahakam rivers. The objectives of this study are to find the genetical population structure and the history of colonization of clown loach from Kalimantan (Kapuas river) dan Sumatra (Batanghari, Musi and Tulang Bawang rivers) based on intron sequence of Aldolase B gene. Cutting fins are collected from each location and preserved in ethanol solution and stored in deep freezer before digested for DNA analysis by proteinase-K method followed by CTAB (cethyl/hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide) method; then amplified by EPIC-PCR (Exon Primed Intron Crossing Polymerase Chain Reaction) techniques. PCR product were Electrophoreted and DNA bands were sequenced. The results of sequences analysis showed 8 types of alleles, 5 types for type A alleles (A-1, A-2, A-3, A-4, A-5), 2 type B alleles (B-1 and B-2) and C-1. There was a genetic difference between Sumatra and Kalimantan populations.

Abstract

Buntung Stream is one of the tributaries of Bedog Stream. The Bedog Stream and its tributaries in Bayem, subdistrict of Kasihan to their upstream are categorized as river of B group. The activity of pig raising which have been carried out by some people in BanyuradenGampingSleman which throw away the wastes in this area likely to have effect on physical, chemical, and biological water qualities, especially coliform bacteria.The objectives of this research were to know the changes on the water quality of Buntung Stream due to pig raising waste disposal in BanyuradenGampingSleman and to give alternative solution to the problem. Observation were conducted on the physico-chemical and also biological water qualities of the stream at four stations: Station I (±800 m upstream of the waste disposal point), Station II (at the waste disposal point), Station III (±500 m downstream of the waste disposal point), and Station IV (±900 m downstream of the waste disposal point, before the encountering of Buntung and Bedog Stream). The samples were collected at the station between 09.00-12.00 a.m repeated 10 times during June-July 2001.Based on the data analyses, it could be drawn some conclusions as follows: the pig raising wastes disposal into Buntung Stream increased water discharge and quantities of coliform group and coliform feces. The waste disposal increased total dissolved solids, ammonia, and phosphate contents but decreased dissolved oxygen and pH of the water, and did not affect the water velocity, temperature, and nitrate content. In addition, BOD5 dissolved     oxygen, and the density of coliform bacteria in Buntung Stream after receiving the pig raising wastes disposal were beyond the B group of the water quality standard in the Special Province of Yogyakarta, whereas the content of total dissolved solids, pH, ammonia, and nitrate were still within the range of the water quality standard.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know protein and energy digestibilities of marine yeast, as substitution for soybean meal in the ration of patin (Pangasius sp.) and humpback grouper (Cromileptes altivelis).This experiment used completely randomized design with four treatments in triplicates. The treatments were R1 (100% animal protein); R2 (90% animal protein+10% soybean meal); R3 (90% animal protein+5% soybean meal+5% marine yeast); and R4 (90% animal protein+10% marine yeast). The digestibility of protein in ration of patin was significantly different (P<0.01). Marine yeast in patin ration also improved the growth rate (P<0.05). Substitution soybean meal with marine yeast in ration of patin was not influence the energy digestibility and feed conversion ratio (FCR) (P>0.05). Rations with 5 and 10% of marine yeast improved energy and protein digestibility, growth rate and decreased the FCR. Digestibilities of protein and energy, growth rate and FCR in humpback grouper were significantly different (P<0.01) among treatments. Marine yeast in ration of humpback grouper increased digestibilities of protein and energy. However, substitution of animal protein with soybean meal and marine yeast decreased growth rate and improve FRC in humpback grouper.

Abstract

Parasites often cause the great loss in aquaculture either in fish or shrimp aquacultures. The loss will become more serious when fish or shrimp are secondary infected especially by bacteria. The objective of this study was to identify parasites in fish and shrimp culture inYogyakartaSpecialProvince (DIY). Samples of fish and shrimp were collected from several aquaculture centers in this region including several fish and shrimp hatcheries. Observation of parasites was conducted microscopically and macroscopically.Results showed that giant tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon) cultured in DIY was often infected by Zoothamnium sp. and Gregarines sp.. In addition, giant freshwater prawn (Machrobrachium rosenbergii) was often infected by Apiosoma sp., Dactylogyrus sp., Epystilis sp., Glossatella piscicola, Gregarines sp. and Zoothamnium sp.. Moreover Apiosoma sp.,  Dactylogyrus sp., Gyrodactylus sp., Ichthyopthirius sp., and Trichodina sp. were found in nile (Oreochromis niloticus) culture. Similar parasites such as Apiosoma sp., Dactylogyrus sp., Henneguya sp. Ichtyoptirius sp. and Trichodina sp..were found in Osphronemus gaurami. Ichtyoptirius sp. and Trichodina sp. also were found in walking catfish (Clarias gariephinus).

Abstract

The purpose of this experiment was to know lipid sources requirement for growth of mud crab (Scylla paramamosain) juvenile. The experiment used ninety of juveniles reared in 30 l of seawater with flow-throught water system and aeration. Initial average body weight and carapace width of juveniles were 0.21 g and 1.05-1.07 cm, respectively. Juveniles were stocked individually using a supernet material in each tank. Five isoprotein and isoenergy formulated diet with dry pellet form containing different proportion of squid oil and soybean oil as lipid sources i.e. 12%:0%, 9%:3%, 6%:6%, 3%:9% and 0%:12%. Feed were given twice a day in the morning and afternoon. Study on feeding habit and spawning season of lais (Criptopterus sp.) in fisheries reserve Sungai Sambujur, Hulu Sungai Utara, South Kalimantan was conducted from June until December 2004. The objectives of  this research were to know feeding habit and spawning season of lais in fisheries reserve Sungai Sambujur. Feeding habit was analysed by index of preponderance. Somatic index maturity and fecundity were determined by Nikolsky and gravimetri metods, respectively. The results  showed that the natural feed of  lais in dry season were  43% fish fragmen, 55% insect fragmen and 2% unidentified materials. While  in wet season, the natural feed of lais were 32% fish fragmen, 67.5% insect fragmen and 0.5% unidentified materials. Somatic index maturity of lais varied monthly ranging from  I to V.
