Abstract

The presence of pollinatting insect is an unseparated part in oil palm cultivation. The insect population and its diversity   will affect the pollination process that will produce a good   fruit. This study aimed to determine and study the population as well as the species diversity of pollinating insects on smallhoulder oil palm plantations in Rantau Kapas Bukit Paku Village, Batanghari Regency. Unformated Trials  was carried out  as the experimental design and the location was porpusively chosen because there were plants under study and were uniform in  that location.The method used was a descriptive survey method, which deal with  observing the types and numbers of pollinating insects caught at the sample locations in smallholder oil palm plantations aged 6 years. Catching pollinating insects used Kairomix pheromone traps. The results of the study showed that there were 18,301 species of E kamerunicus  and 478 species of Thrips hawaiiensis  pollinated insects were caught, while 378 non-pollinated insects were caught in the oil palm plantation area in the Bukit Paku area. The general morphology of the fruit was Tenera fruit type, with the average of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) weight as 9.4 kg.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of vermicompost in increasing melon growth and yield and to obtain a dose of vermicompost that was able to provide the best melon growth and yield. The research design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with one factor, namely the dose of vermicompost consisting of: 0 tonha-1; 5 tonha-1; 15 tonha-1; 25 tonha-1; and 35 tonha-1. The results showed that the application of vermicompost increased plant length, number of leaves, leaf area, stem diameter, fruit diameter, and weight per fruit of melon plants. The dose of vermicompost that gave the best melon growth and yield was 25 tonha-1, with a weight per fruit of 1,8 kg, and productivity of 50 tonha-1, 1,2 times greater than the potential yield of melon

Abstract

This research is entitled: Response growth cuttings Sugarcane Chip Bud                ( Saccharum officinarum L. ) against gift Rootone -F with concentration different .Experiments and organoleptic tests in this study were carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture, UNBARI Jambi in the month of March – August 2022 .The research design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with one treatment factor, namely the concentration of Rootone-F with 4 levels as follows; r0 = without using Rootone – F ; r1 = 200 ppm Rotoone-F ; r2 = 400 ppm Rotoone-F ; r3 = 600 ppm Rotoone-F. research pen this using 3 replications , so get 12 units experimen, every unit test consist from 10 cuttings so that the total is 120 cuttings . on every unit test determined by random 5 plants as sample . Observed parameters : percentage life Sugarcane chip bud cuttings (%) , shoot length of sugar cane chip bud cuttings ( cm), diameter of buds from sugar cane chip bud cuttings (mm), number root ( strand ), weight  dry  root cane chip bud cuttings (g) . Result data study analyzed statistics use analysis variety . When on analysis variety state influence real, then next with further test DNMRT level 5%. From result study obtained that the concentration of Rootone -F had a significant effect on the percentage of survival of sugarcane chip bud cuttings , shoot length, shoot diameter, but not significantly different on the number of roots and root dry weight. Giving Rootone-F with a concentration of 400 ppm (treatment r2 ) can give the best percentage of sugarcane chip bud cuttings survival of 83.33%

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of corn leaf pruning on soybean growth and yield in an intercropping system. This research was carried out on farmers' land in Simpang Village, Berbak District, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency from July - October 2020. This research was carried out using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 replications. Pruning treatments based on the position of the leaves on the stem were : without pruning (control/p0), pruning 3 leaves at a position near the soil surface (p1), pruning 3 leaves at a position below the cob (p2), and pruning 3 leaves at a position above the cob (p3). The variables observed included soybean plant height (cm), number of pods per plant, number of filled pods per plant, weight of 100 dry seeds (g), and soybean dry seed yield. The results showed that the highest soybean plant height was obtained without pruning and pruning 3 corn leaves near the soil surface, but produced the lowest number of pods per plant, number of filled pods, and the lowest soybean dry seed yield. The number of pods per plant, the number of containing per plant, and the highest soybean dry seed yield were obtained at pruning of 3 leaves under the cob and 3 leaves of corn above the cob. In corn, the highest yield was obtained by pruning 3 leaves below the cob and 3 leaves above the cob. The diversity of soybean dry seed yields in this study was determined jointly by the diversity of the number of pods per plant, the number of filled pods per plant, and the weight of 100 dry seeds. Partially, only the number of pods contained per plant and the weight of 100 dry seeds significantly played a role in determining the amount of dry soybean yield, while the number of pods per plant had no significant role in determining the diversity of dry seed yields. Land use with corn and soybean intercropping system can increase land productivity so that it is more efficient with LER value > 1 in all positions of corn leaf pruning. Keywords: pruning, intercropping corn, soybean

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the effect of bagasse compost on the growth and yield of red chili (Capsicum annum L.), and to obtain a dose of bagasse compost that could provide the best growth and yield of red chili. This research was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, Mendalo Indah Village, Outer Jambi District, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. The study was carried out from April to August 2020. The design used was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of 5 treatment levels, namely: without bagasse compost (p0), 200 g bagasse compost (p1), 300 g (p2) , 400 g (p4), and 500 (p5). The treatment was repeated 5 times, so there were 25 experimental units. Each experiment contained 5 polybags where each polybag contained one plant and 3 as sample plants. From the results of the study, it was found that giving a dose of 500 g of bagasse compost was the best dose that affected the number of branches, number of fruit per plant, and fruit weight per plant.

Abstract

Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi dalam pembibitan kayu manis adalah mutu bibit yang masih rendah karena keberhasilan budidaya kayu manis diawali dengan penggunaan bibit yang berkualitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat respon pertumbuhan bibit kayu manis terhadap pemberian abu sekam padi pada media tanam di polybag. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Sungai Pegeh, Kecamatan Siulak, Kabupaten Kerinci, selama 3 bulan mulai bulan April sampai Juli 2022. Analisis abu sekam padi dilakukan di Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Provinsi Jambi. Analisis unsur hara abu sekam padi dilakukan di Laboratorium Balai Pengkajian Teknologi Pertanian Jambi dan pengukuran bobot basah akar, bobot kering tajuk dan bobot kering akar akan dilakukan Laboratorium di Universitas Batanghari Jambi. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara ekperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), dengan satu faktor pemberian abu sekam padi sebagai berikut : k0 : 3 kg tanah ultisol per polibag (kontrol), k1 : abu sekam padi 40g + 2960g tanah ultisol, k2 : abu sekam padi 70g + 2930 g tanah ultisol, k3 : abu sekam padi 100 g + 2900 g tanah ultisol. Setiap perlakuan diulang 3 kali, sehingga diperoleh 12 satuan percobaan, setiap satuan percobaan terdiri dari8 polibagsehingga total keseluruhan adalah 96 polybag. Pada setiap satuan percobaan ditentukan secara acak 4 tanaman sebagai sampel. Parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah: Tinggi Bibit (cm), Diameter Batang (mm), Berat Kering Tajuk (g), Berat Kering Akar (g), Nisbah TajukAkar, Indeks Kualitas, Data Lingkungan (Suhu Udara, Kelembaban Udara dan pH media). Data hasil penelitian dianalisis statistika menggunakan analisis ragam. Bila pada analisis ragam menyatakan pengaruh nyata, maka dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut DNMRT taraf α 5%. Berdasarkan penelitian dan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian abu sekam padi + tanah ultisol memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, berat kering tajuk, berat kering akar, indeks kualitas dan berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap nisbah tajuk akar. Pemberian abu sekam padi 100 g + 2900 g tanah ultisol meningkatkan tinggi tanaman sebesar 33,61%, diameter batang 44,02%, berat kering tajuk 159,58%, berat kering akar 146,29% dan indeks kualitas 176,47% bila dibanding dengan k0. Secara umum perlakuan k3 abu sekam padi 100 g + tanah ultisol 2900 g. memberikan pertumbuhan kayu manis yang terbaik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh bahan amelioran yang dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman cabai rawit. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 4 perlakuan bahan amelioran yaitu tanpa bahan amelioran (B0), biochar kulit buah durian 4 t ha-1(B1), biochar sekam padi 4 t ha-1 (B2), pupuk kandang sapi 4 t ha-1 (B3). Masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak tiga kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi biochar dan pupuk kandang sapi sebagai amelioran mampu meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, luas daun total, indeks luas daun, jumlah buah, berat buah, dan produktivitas tanaman cabai rawit. Peningkatan produktivitas tanaman cabe rawit dengan aplikasi pupuk kandang sapi, biochar kulit buah durian dan biochar sekam padi dosis 4 t ha-1 yaitu berturut-turut masing-masing sebesar 83%, 70%,  dan 64 % dibandingkan dengan tanpa perlakuan.

Abstract

The development of garlic cultivation is currently experiencing a very sharp decline, even some local garlic cultivars are very difficult to find both on farmer's land and in the domestic market. One of the main reasons is the presence of imported garlic whose tuber quality is acknowledged to be better than local garlic bulbs and the price is affordable by consumers. This study aims to test the adaptability of several varieties of lowland garlic in Muaro Jambi. The research was carried out in farmers' gardens located in Mendalo Darat, Jambi Luar Kota from May 2020 to July 2020 with Ultisol soil type and located at an altitude of 0-65 m above sea level. The experiment was arranged in a simple randomized block design (RAK) with garlic varieties as a treatment factor. The varieties treated were: v1 ( lumbu putih from DI Yogyakarta), v2 ( lumbu hijau from Batu Malang), v3 (lumbu kuning from Batu Malang), v4 (sangga sembalun from Sembalun, East Lombok, NTB), v5 (jangkiriah adro from Kerinci-Jambi), and v6 (tawangmangu baru from Tawangmangu, Karanganyar) with 4 replications. The results showed that six local varieties of garlic, namely lumbu putih, lumbu hijau, lumbu kuning, tawamangu baru, sangga sambalun and jangkiriah adro on vegetative growth grew well in Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. The varieties of lumbu putih and sangga sambalun are able to grow, are bulbous and can form cloves in the lowlands of Muaro Jambi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of damage to coffee beans in storage at different seed moisture content caused by the pest A. fasciculatus. The research was carried out at the Basic Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Batanghari University, Jambi, from August to November 2021. Liberika coffee beans came from the Mekar Jaya II farmer group in Parit Lapis, Betara, Tanjung Jabung Barat. The study used a one-factor completely randomized design (CRD) with the treatment being tested for differences in water content including: k0 = (control) 100 liberica coffee beans, 10.7% moisture content without A. fasciculatus insects, k1 = 100 liberica coffee beans, water content 10.7 % + 10 A. fasciculatus insects, k2= 100 liberica coffee beans, 11.4% moisture content + 10 A. fasciculatus insects, and k3= 100 liberica coffee beans, 15.1% moisture content + 10 A. fasciculatus insects, each treatment was repeated as much as 8 times. The parameters observed were the characteristics of the coffee bean defect value, increase in moisture content, change in weight from the beginning to the end of the study, temperature and humidity. Data analysis used variance analysis (analysis of variance), if the treatment was significantly different, it was continued with the Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results of the analysis showed that the best treatment was at k1 (10.7% moisture content) with the lowest damage level of 30.00%. It can be concluded that, the higher the moisture content of coffee beans in storage, the higher the attack rate of A. fasciculatus

Abstract

This research aimed is to get one kind of best organic material on onion bulb production (Allium ascalonium L.). This experiments using Randomized Block Design of one factor combinations of species and dosage of organic matter. Organic materials used are compost of chicken coop, cow shed, goat cage, solidand municipal waste with dose of 10 ton ha-1 and 15 tons ha-1. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaf, number of tillers, fresh tuber weight per hill and tuber weight per plot. Provision of several types and doses of organic matter had no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, but significantly affected tuber weight per clumpand productivity (tuber weight per hectare). Dosage and type of organic material that gives the best onion bulb weight is compost chicken coop 15 ton ha-1
