Abstract. This article is exploring student’s ability in applying Marxist theory. Abstract

Abstract. Knowing the thinking pattern of the Indonesian nation and that of the Japanese nation is useful in an effort to understand the different culture between Indonesian and Japanese. One of the main difficulties is the different characteristics of the two peoples: the Japanese people are relatively homogeneous, while the Indonesian people are very heterogeneous. Therefore, comparisons will be easier if it is focused on comparing Japanese culture and one ethnic group in Indonesia. For example, Japanese culture with the cultures of Central Java, or Japanese culture with the culture of Sunda. This leads us to the next questions that  whether the Indonesian nation has a national culture, or that national culture is nothing but a collection of colorful ethnic culture of our nation. This is not an easy question to answer, and interesting to be further analyzed. Key words: definiton of names, signature meaning, gestures

Abstract

Abstract. This article tries to discover the oppression undergoing  by the female character, named Shamimma. The oppression is done by the male character named Suranjan. The oppression happens on the basis idea that Shamimma is a Muslim, the group of the people who Suranjan believe have kidnapped and raped her sister Maya. Abstract

Abstract Artikel ini tentang ciri-ciri hasil penerjemahan program Rekso Translator Release 3 (3.2.4) pada level kata, frasa, dan klausa. Data terdiri dari 23 kalimat yang diambil dari 3 buku teks  dari 3 bidang ilmu, yaitu, ilmu alam, fisika, dan komputer tingkat SMA kelas 1. Analisa dipusatkan pada berbagai masalah penerjemahan dengan program perangkat lunak. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa ada berbagi masalah pada tingkat kata (meliputi: kelas kata, pilihan kata, kemajemukan, dan kata tak terjemahkan), tingkat frasa (meliputi: struktur pewatas dan kata kepala, inversi dan pilihan pewatas, determinator, artikel, dan kata ganti), tingkat klausa (meliputi: penghilangan subjek kalimat, klausa relativa, imperatif, kongruensi subjek-kata kerja, struktur retrofleks, kala, dan bentuk pasif). Yang lebih utama, analisa menunjukkan perlunya penilaian penterjemah berkaitan dengan kealamian dan keefisienan hasil terjemahan mesin.   Kata kunci: penerjemahan, mesin penerjemahan, penerjemahan tingkat kata, penerjemahan tingkat frasa, penerjemahan, tingkat klausa

Abstract

Abstract. The focus of this research is the semantic aspect in the form of various implied meaning of the text of the state address of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during his reign of 2004-2008. In the perspective of critical discourse analysis, it can be shown five implied meanings as follows: to answer the demands of the public, garnering support from many circles, building optimism to the people, boost self-image in the public eye, and muffled criticism of the political opponent / rival. In his state address, it is discovered that SBY discredited his political rival groups impliedly. Key words: semantic, textual meanings, hidden meanings, critical discourse analysis

Abstract

Abstract Artikel ini mendiskusikan ciri-ciri surat menyurat bisnis e-mail yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan telekuminikasi swasta. Yang dikaji adalah ciri-ciri bahasanya dan formatnya. Data terdiri 200 e-mail perusahaan dan rekan bisnisnya  dalam komunikasi rutin. Selain itu dikaji juga kesamaan dan perbedaannya dengan surat bisnis yang konvensional. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa adanya kesamaan format antara surat bisnis e-mail dengan surat bisnis konvensional, yaitu dalam Kepala Surat, Tanggal, Alamat di dalam surat, Hal, Badan surat. Perbedaan nampak dalam item-item Tembusan, Kepentingan, Salam, Salam Penutup, dan tanda tangan. Item-item tersebut tidak selalu ada dalam e-mail, yaitu tergantung pada kebutuhan, tipe dan conteks e-mail ditulis meskipun item-item tersebut penting dan seharusnya ada dalam surat bisnis konvensional. Format surat bisnis e-mail lebih fleksibel dan dari segi bahasa bersifat lebih informal. Kata kunci: e-mail, e-mail business correspondence, feature
