The research aims to know and analyze (1) the effect of using ‘baliho’ towards political choice of middle class society in Makassar City, (2) the importance of using ‘baliho’ as promotional media for regional head candidates to middle class society in Makassar City, and (3) the response of middle class society towards use of ‘baliho’. This research use qualitative descriptive methods. There were 12 (twelve) informants as samples were interviewed and the results of these interviews were analyzed using several theories. The research result indicate that (1) political choice of middle class society not depends on ‘baliho’ because research result indicated that 50% of informants said that their political choice effected by track records, capabilities, and achievements of the candidates not just based on ‘baliho’, (2) according to interviewed with middle class informants indicated that 41.66% informants suggest that candidates are better to directly socialize to society meet them and interact to build two ways communications so both side can get to know each other, and 33.33% suggest candidates are better to use social media and television to promote themselves, (3) response of middle class society about the use of ‘baliho’ showed 83.33% said that ‘baliho’ was just annoying, dirty, untidy, spoil the view of the city, and will produce more waste.Keywords: Baliho, Middle Class, Regional Head Election

Radio is one of the mass media that is closely related to the needs of the community that can provide various kinds of information, entertainment, and education. RRI Surabaya is also one radio station that has 4 programs in it and each program has its own characteristics. Programa (Pro) 4 for example covers cultural broadcasts and one of them is "Ketiban Sampur". The "Ketiban Sampur" broadcast program is a program that is thick with Javanese culture and has many listeners. RRI Surabaya as an independent broadcasting institution preserves culture by using dances and chats that its listeners like. The purpose of this study was conducted to determine the strategy of the program broadcast program "Ketiban Sampur" in maintaining loyalty for approximately 10 years. The results of this study show the strategy program broadcast program "Ketiban Sampur" which is used to maintain loyalty. The "Ketiban Sampur" broadcast program is the only broadcast program that shows programs in the form of dances and chat that are thick with Javanese culture. In addition, the loyalty of this event is also evidenced by the loyalty of the event and listeners that lasted for approximately 10 years.Keywords: program strategy, program broadcasts, maintaining loyalty

The development of technology comes as a solution to facilitate activities, everything and everyone can connect quickly. This is what causes online business more and more in demand. Danvistore is a business that sells apple products and markets its products through an online shop. In the midst of a very tight online business, Danvistore delivered several effective messages to attract consumer buying interest so as to increase sales. The purpose of this study was to determine the delivery of digital marketing messages by the online store Danvistore.This research uses descriptive qualitative method, by collecting data through interviews and documentation. The theory used by researchers is the theory of effective message delivery and the benefits of digital marketing. The speakers of this research are Danvistore shop owner and two consumers from Danvistore. The results of this study indicate that Danvistore applies three elements of the six elements of digital marketing namely target marketing, information access and also sales potential. And applying the nine elements of the eleven elements of effective message delivery, among others, messages attract attention, messages create interest, messages create trust, messages remember, messages provide information, messages teach, persuading messages, messages that create brand associations, and messages that trigger action. The research aims to evaluate apologia strategy based on ethical perspective of public relations. The research applies standards of ethics from The Indonesian Public Relations Association and Apologia Theory. Some research proves that the ability of an organization to deal with a crisis depends on the types of allegations during a crisis. The research tests whether the strategies of Government Public Relations (GPR) of Malang Regency also appropriate with these standard when the organization faces an allegation of corruption. Conducting content analysis on 47 editions of online news, the research reveals that the GPR has adopted ethical standard when delivery information in quote news as a channel of crisis communication. All the ethical standards applied are concerning to public interest, telling true information, address the economic, physical and psychological concerns of the public.Keywords: Apologia, Communication, Crisis, Ethics, Government Public Relations, Indonesia

Social media and Internet websites have a role in election campaigns as a political information source. The new media also allows each individual to express political attitudes and support openness. This indicates that new media, especially social media, is influencing the search for political information and beliefs to participate in elections. This article aims to describe the influence of attention to social media, attention to traditional Internet sources and online expressions on the political self-efficacy and situational political involvement. The research method uses a quantitative approach by conducting an online survey of 100 respondents purposively. Data analysis uses univariate analysis for demographic data. The hypotheses are tested by using a simple linear regression test. There are six hypotheses tested in this study and all hypotheses are supported statistically. This study shows that attention to social media has a stronger influence on political self-efficacy and situational political involvement than tradistional Internet sources and online expressions.Keywords: social media, Internet, politics, political self-efficacy, situational political involvement

The state electricity company is a state-owned enterprise engaged in the field of electricity. The state electricity company that deals with customer service, namely the distribution section. The state electricity company is an electricity industry that has the potential for people's lives. PT. The Sidoarjo regional electricity company is one of the state electricity companies engaged in the distribution of electricity for customer service management and electricity network services. However, recently there were customer complaints regarding the withdrawal of 900 VA electricity subsidies, this withdrawal was due to policies from the government which were considered to be inadequate to obtain electricity subsidies. Teratric researchers to examine this research because the case experienced just happened and the researchers wanted to know how the process carried out by PR in completing the case. From the study, it was adjusted the results that the poorer communities could still get electricity subsidies by submitting a certificate of incapacity from the kelurahan. This research method uses a qualitative approach and uses descriptive types of research. The literature review used is a functional approach using an open system model with a "two-way symmetrical" approach from the results of this study that public relations succeeded in carrying out its role as a communication facilitator.Keywords: Communication Facilitators, Public relations, Customer

This research aims at determining (1) the influence of personal selling partially to purchase decision (2) the influence of sales promotion partially to purchase decision and (3) the influence of personal selling and sales promotion simultaneously to the decision of purchasing laptops on consumers of Pegasus Computer Tebing Tinggi. Personal selling and sales promotion are promotional tools that are part of the marketing mix that can support purchase decisions. This research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents who are consumers of Pegasus Computer Shop Tebing Tinggi. The method used for this research is quantitative method with correlation analysis techniques and multiple linear regression whereas for hypothesis testing is used coefficient of determination test (R2), t test and F test. The result shows that there is a partial and simultaneous influence between personal selling and sales promotion to purchase decision. Keywords: Personal selling, sales promotion, purchase decision

“Khalifah†is one of Nurman Hakim’s movies that tells about conflict felt by the main figure on understanding Islam and the essence of wearing veil for Muslim after several bombing accidents in Indonesia. This movie had attracted many responses, pros and conts in term of how Hakim presents women’s veil and how he frames the suicide bombing tragedy conducted by terrorists. That is because this movie does not only deliver social reality of women’s veil but it is also demanded to deliver this reality neutrally. This article uses qualitative method and sociological communicative approach in order to seek women’s preferences on expressing their peities. It is found from this article that this movie attempts to neutralize the image of women’s veil in several scenes. Hakim also attempts to capture some bombing tragedies done by terrorists in Indonesia from two figures’ perspectives, namely Khalifah and Rasyid. In the end of the movie, the audiences have been challenged to choose between wearing veil or preserving morals.Keywords: Movie, Piety, Veil.

Ahead of the 2019 election there were a number of movements, one of which was the declaration of #2019GantiPresiden. This movement became pro and contra and became a popular conversation between the general public and the political elite which was considered to contain political content. The mass media was also crowded in announcing the declaration of movement #2019GantiPresiden, one of them is online mass media Detik.com. For this reason researchers are interested in conducting research on the political message of the declaration #2019GantiPresiden in the online mass media news detik.com. The research was conducted using discourse analysis of Teun A. Van Dijk and then related to propaganda techniques. The results of the research conducted indicate that the political message in declaration #2019GantiPresiden in detik.com news period May 4 to June 4 2018 contains a propaganda political message that uses repetition propaganda techniques, namely the repeated presentation of messages so that people are easily remembered.Keywords : political message, discourse analysis, #2019GantiPresiden, propaganda technique

This study aims to determine the cross-cultural communication barriers of Papuan students in Surabaya. Qualitative approach to the cluster analysis method. Six respondents were successfully recruited by purposive sampling technique. The theory used is the theory of reducing the level of uncertainty by Charles Berger et al. And Theory of cross-cultural communication barriers by William Gudykust. This study shows the results that Papuan students experience many obstacles while living in Surabaya. Language, physical, perception and culture are key barriers to information interaction and adaptation. The barriers that occur have an impact on the social life of key informants where social disparities occur on personal key informants. However, these obstacles are reduced over time because they use three strategies to reduce obstacles, namely passive, active, and interactive strategies.Keywords: communication obstacles, cross-cultural, cultural aspects.
