Abstract

This study examines the effect of using audio-visual media in Islamic Religious Education on student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 4 Banjarbaru. The focus of the study includes the significance of the effectiveness of audio-visual media on student learning outcomes and the extent to which the media is effective in improving students' understanding of Islamic Religious Education. This research is a field study with a quantitative descriptive approach, using a quasi-experimental method through a non-equivalent pretest-posttest design. The design involved one experimental class and one control class, each consisting of 31 students, for a total sample of 62 students selected through purposive sampling from a population of 911 students. Data were obtained through questionnaires, tests, and documentation, then analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques, including validity, reliability, difficulty level, discrimination power, distractor effectiveness, and normality tests. In addition, n-gain calculations were used to assess learning outcome improvement. The research findings show that the use of audio-visual media has a significant effect on improving student learning outcomes. Based on the analysis results, the effectiveness of audio-visual media is in the "effective" category with a value of 1.26 > 1. In the experimental class, the level of learning effectiveness reached 62.25, while the control class only obtained an effectiveness value of 49.39. Overall, student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at SMP Negeri 4 Banjarbaru showed a higher increase in the group that received audio-visual media treatment.

Abstract

Although various studies have examined the economic and political impacts of product boycotts, research focusing on the implementation of economic boycotts driven by religious fatwas in the Indonesian context remains scarce. This study seeks to fill that gap by analyzing the Indonesian Ulema Council (Majelis Ulama Indonesia) Fatwa No. 83/2023 concerning support for the Palestinian cause and the boycott of pro-Israel products, within the framework of fiqh siyasah and the concept of economic warfare. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a contextual content analysis approach, this research explores the substance and implications of the fatwa. The analysis finds that the fatwa emphasizes the moral and political dimensions of Muslim solidarity, positioning boycotts and the distribution of zakat and infaq as forms of ethical and humanitarian responsibility rather than economic instruments. Furthermore, the fatwa illustrates the integration of fiqh siyasah principles into contemporary discourse on global justice and Muslim solidarity. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how religious authority can influence moral reasoning and collective action within Islamic economic thought. The findings provide conceptual insights for scholars, policymakers, and community leaders on the role of Islamic legal perspectives in shaping ethical responses to global political issues, while promoting peaceful and principled engagement in international relations.

Abstract

The distribution of inheritance or inherited property is an issue that is always interesting to discuss in the academic world. Of course, there are many factors behind this, including the distribution of inheritance that is not in line with fiqh mawaris, or the use of terms that are often used as jargon in the distribution of inheritance, such as "Determination before Distribution (PSP). This study aims to understand the concept of PSP, which requires individuals to refer to the Qur'an and hadith to determine the shares of the heirs in a literal manner. In contrast, inheritance distribution is based on the heirs' willingness. Thus, to address these concerns, this study uses a qualitative legal research method with a doctrinal and conceptual approach. The research data consists of primary and secondary legal materials, including verses from the Qur'an, hadiths on inheritance, classical fiqh literature, and official CMS documents and guidelines related to the implementation of PSP. This study does not involve participants directly because it is normative-doctrinal in nature. Data collection techniques involved library research, including systematic searches of Islamic legal sources and relevant documents. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively through normative interpretation and conceptual-comparative analysis between classical inheritance fiqh provisions and the PSP concept. The results of this study indicate that PSP is one of the concepts summarised from several books on fiqh mawarith, specifically a development of the distribution of inheritance carried out in accordance with Sharia law. The determination in the PSP concept concerns the relationship between humans and their Lord, while the distribution concerns the relationship between heirs and other heirs

Abstract

Instilling religious attitudes is one of the main objectives of Islamic Religious Education (IRE), but in practice, students' religious understanding is often still cognitive in nature and has not been fully internalized in their daily attitudes and behavior. This condition underscores the importance of attending to students' internal factors, particularly spiritual and emotional intelligence, in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the influence of spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence on students' religious attitudes in Islamic Religious Education. This study uses a quantitative, correlational design. The study population consisted of 986 students at Limboto 1 Public High School, and a sample of 284 students was selected using the Slovin formula via proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression after satisfying the classical assumption tests. The results showed that spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence had a positive and significant effect on religious attitudes, both partially and simultaneously. Spiritual intelligence had a more dominant effect than emotional intelligence. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.669 indicates that these two variables can explain 66.9% of the variation in religious attitudes. This study concludes that strengthening spiritual and emotional intelligence is an important factor in shaping students' religious attitudes and should therefore be systematically integrated into Islamic Education (PAI) learning.

Abstract

Framed as a negotiation of sacred ecology, this study examines how Qur'an and Tafsir (IAT) students at STAIN Majene receive and interpret the Qur'an's ecological verses amid West Sulawesi's ecological transformation driven by extractive development. Using a qualitative approach supported by descriptive statistical analysis, it integrates Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding model and Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd's contextual hermeneutics as the analytical framework. Subjects were selected through purposive sampling, namely active IAT students who had completed the Tafsir course; data were collected through structured interviews conducted via Google Forms. Of 65 subjects contacted, 62 returned the instrument (response rate: 95.4%), and 61 valid responses were analyzed using the formula P = (f/N) × 100%. Findings show that 90.2% of subjects recognized ecological themes in the Qur'an, yet only 45.9% could name a specific verse. Reception analysis identified three positions: dominant-hegemonic (n = 8; 13.1%), accepting ecological verses as direct moral commands without structural critique; negotiated (n = 51; 83.6%), affirming their normative value while adapting application to local socioeconomic conditions; and oppositional (n = 2; 3.3%), critically questioning dominant interpretations and linking environmental damage to structural forces. These findings underscore the urgency of strengthening critical ecological tafsir in IAT education.

Abstract

The automatic removal of unused data quotas by one of Indonesia's telecommunications service providers has sparked widespread public attention in the digital sphere. This practice is often perceived as undermining consumer justice and rights. However, empirical studies linking digital consumer perceptions to the maqāṣid al-sharīʿah framework remain limited. This study examines public perceptions of Telkomsel's data quota expiration policy through a netnographic approach within an Islamic ethical perspective. Using an interpretive qualitative design, the study analyses 500 YouTube comments, 12 semi-structured interviews, and digital observations. Thematic analysis is grounded in the principles of maqāṣid: justice (ʿadl), protection of property (ḥifẓ al-māl), and public interest (maṣlaḥah). The results show that 36.6% of users view the policy as exploitation, while 25.4% associate it with a violation of digital property rights. Public narratives consistently view quotas as legitimate assets, so their removal is perceived as a unilateral loss. Interviews reinforce the link between injustice, low transparency, and weak consumer protection. This study does not conclude a general ethical crisis, but identifies the emergence of moral criticism rooted in digital experiences. These findings affirm that maqāṣid al-sharīʿah is a relevant evaluative framework for the ethics of digital services. The contribution of this research lies in its effort to empirically link maqāṣid with digital consumption practices, as well as demonstrating that netnography is effective in uncovering ethical dimensions within digital public narratives
