Background: Diabetic ulcer is one of the chronic complications of diabetes mellitus. It often impact problems in the family during the treatment process. Family plays a functional role in implementing health care practices such as delivering foot care on family members who suffer from diabetes mellitus. T h i s m e t h o d i s a preventative measure to prevent the occurrence of diabetic wounds. Family's ability to provide health care can affect the health status of those family members. Families who can carry out the task of health might resolve the health problems. Objective: To determine the family role in foot care to diabetic mellitus patients in Puskesmas Karangnongko Klaten Jawa Tengah. Methods: This was a qualitative research used phenomenology, and employed in-depth interviews. Participants were obtained purposively, 5 families were involved. Results: There were families who do not understand their role in recognizing the problem in patients with diabetes mellitus. Families had lack understanding about their role in decision making regarding the importance of foot care and its role in modifying the environment to ensure the health of the patient. Families had understanding about their role in caring for family members who suffer from diabetes and its role in the use of health care facilities that exist around their areas. Conclusions: The family role in foot care to diabetic mellitus patients in Puskesmas Karangnongko Klaten Jawa Tengah needs to be improved, because there are many families who have lack understanding on foot care in diabetic patients. Background: Surgery is one of the medical interventions, which can cause fear, anxiety, and stress due to its effects toward the body and soul integrity. Nurses have significant roles in pre-operative care by helping patients to decrease pre-operative anxiety. One of the methods is by using complementary therapy. The use of music therapy is not common in Indonesia. Therefore, scientific studies to prove the role of this therapy to decrease the level of anxiety of preoperative patients in needed. Objective: To investigate the effects of music therapy in reducing anxiety levels of preoperative patients. Methods: The study was a quasy experimental study with pre and post-test design. The samples were selected with a non-probability sampling along with a purposive sampling technique. The amount of samples in this study was 50 respondents. Results: Statistical test used in this research was paired sample t-tests involved the control and intervention groups. The control group showed the average value of the increased of anxiety level of 0.8 without any intervention of music therapy with t = -1503, df = 24, p <0.05. Whereas the avarage value of the decreased of anxiety level was -5.52 with t=5.081, df=24, p<0.05. Meanwhile the independent t- test results for both groups showed a significant difference between mean value of the anxiety level (t= 3,373, df = 48, p <0.05). Conclusion: Music therapy has a significant effect in reducing preoperative anxiety levels of patients. Keywords: Anxiety, preoperative, music therapy

Background: Anxiety is a n unpleasant emotional, characterized by fear and tense physical symptoms as respond of stress. Anxiety commonly happens to pre-operative patients. Therapeutic communication is one of the modality therapies to anxious patients. Therapeutic communication is a communication which facilitates recovery to patients by giving safe and comfortable feelings and promotes trusts between health care providers and patients. Objective: To investigate the correlation between the patients perception to the nurses therapeutic communication and the anxiety level of appendictomy pre-operative patients in Yogyakarta Hospital and Hardjolukito Hospital. Methodology: This research was an analytic survey with cross-sectional design. Twenty-three respondents were involved as samples by consecutive sampling technique. Statistical test used in this research is non- parametric and spearman rank. Results: There was a correlation between patients perception to the nurse therapeutic communication and t h e anxiety level on appendictomy pre-operative patients. Non-parametric test used Spearmen rank rho formula showed a significant result of p-value= 0.014 p<0.05, with correlation coefficient of 0.506. Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between patients perception to the nurse therapeutic communication with the anxiety level of appendictomy pre-operative patients. Background : Based on the results of the annual report in the care services of Public General Hospital Wates Yogyakarta in NICU department. Periodic monitoring results in 2012 that 63.16% (of all infant deaths) due to LBW . Efforts are already underway to increase in LBW infants BB in Public General Hospital Wates Yogyakarta is the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). Each case LBW done KMC treatment at least 2-3 hours per day by his family. Method of Infant Massage has been done in some hospitals but not yet implemented at this hospital . Objective : The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and Infant Massage to Increased Body Weight and Length in Low Birth Weight Infants in the NICU hospitals Wates Kulon Progo . Methods : This study used a quasi-experimental research design. The experimental group was Newborns with low birth weight who were given the intervention of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and Infant Massage while the control group was Newborns with low birth weight who were given the intervention of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) only. After the intervention for at least 3 days, both groups are seen gaining weight and body length, then see the difference. The sample in this study were all newborns with low birth weight were treated diruang Wates Kulon Progo Hospital NICU during the study met the inclusion criteria and had a total of 18 respondents to the experimental group and 18 respondents for the control group). Independent variable is the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and Infant Massage, the dependent variable is the Weight and Body Length Results : The results of measurements preintervensi Body Weight between experimental and control groups were homogeneous with a mean weight (p value 0.629) and Body Length (p value 0.169) . Difference in the mean increase in Body Weight-fed babies and intervention KMC Infant Massage with KMC at 6.277 grams per day. The mean increase in Body Weight -fed babies and Infant Massage KMC intervention is greater than the average Body Weight infants given KMC intervention, but was not statistically significant (p 0.794). Difference in the mean increase in infants fed NT intervention KMC and Infant Massage with KMC at 0.583 cm per day. The mean increase in NT intervention KMC infants fed higher than the average of NT infants given KMC intervention and Infant Massage, but were not statistically significant (p 0.208) Conclusion : Intervention KMC and Infant Massage can effectively to improve the Body Weight and Body Length but it was not statistically significant . Background: Patients satisfaction is a major issue that should be payed attention on, in order to increase hospital quality. A hospital must provide the clients with their needs through excellent nursing care activities. Patients generally perceive the nursing care based on its tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The patients? perceptions towards nursing care quality will influence patients? satisfaction. Objective: To investigate the relationship between patients? perceptions of the nursing care with patients? satisfaction. Methods: This research was observational analytic with cross-sectional design, used a purposive sampling technique. This study involved 40 samples. Data were collected with questionnaires, and were analyzed based on univariate and bivariate analyses. The bivariate analysis was Kendall's tau test with significance level of p <0.1. Results: Majority of respondents had good perception towards the nursing care quality (60%) and most respondents were satisfied with the nursing care (62.5%), Kendall's tau test resulted ?=0.476 with a p-value of 0.003 (p< 0.1). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between the patients? perception towards nursing care quality with the patients? satisfaction in Candi Barong unit in Prambanan General Hospital. Background: Yogyakarta provincial department of health reported that maternal mortality reached 87.3 per 100,000 live births in 2012, while the health profile of Sleman in 2012 revealed 87.6 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. Reports of provincial health department in 2012 showed that the cause of maternal death in Indonesia was still dominated by bleeding (32%). Objective: To investigate the etiologies of bleeding in pregnancy. Methods: This study was descriptive and employed documentation study which evaluated the records at Sleman Hospital during the year of 2013. Research involved with 135 documentation samples. Results: The etiologies of bleeding in pregnancy at Sleman Hospital were abortion in 121 women (89.6%), placenta previa in 6 women (4.4%), interrupted ectopic pregnancy and mola hidatidosa pregnancy each was in 3 women (2.2%) and the least frequent was solusio placenta in 2 women (1.5%). Conclusion: Abortion was the most frequent etiology of bleeding in pregnancy (89.6%) at Sleman Hospital in 2013. Keywords: Bleeding and pregnancy

Background: Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is one important indicator in determining the level of public health. Early breastfeeding initiation can save the lives of infants under 28 days of age. Furthermore, infants who were given the opportunity for early breastfeeding were eight times more successful to breast-fed exclusively. Early breastfeeding initiation is a process that allows the babies to find and suckle the milk by themself, within the first hour in their early life. Exclusive breastfeeding is breastfeeding without any additional food in infants until the age of six months old. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between early breastfeeding initiation and exclusive breastfeeding in Mergangsan Health Center. Methods: This research was an analytic survey with a case-control design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique, consisted of 64 respondents. Result: Most of the mothers in Mergangsan Health Center had implemented early breastfeeding initiation (65.6%), while exclusive breastfeeding in Mergangsan Health Center was largely applied (64.1%). The chi square test revealed p=0,000 (p< 0.05) with a contingency value of 0.605. Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between early breastfeeding initiation and exclusive breastfeeding in Mergangsan Health Center. Mothers who initiated early breastfeeding were tend to be more successful in implementing exclusive breastfeeding. It is recommended for health workers to provide early breastfeeding initiation at the time of delivery as well as to motivate mothers in order to implement exclusive breastfeeding. Background: Pregnancy and childbirth are normal processes but can be abnormal and resulting in maternal deaths. The maternal mortality rate can be lowered by applying childbirth planning and complication prevention (P4K) earlier. This program consists of childbirth attendant planning, place of childbirth planning, cost of childbirth preparation, transportation planning, childbirth companion planning and blood donors planning. Preliminary study at Puskesmas Pleret obtained 4 of 6 pregnant women (66.67%) had not implemented P4K due to lack of financial support. The economic level affects the selection of the referral place of childbirth. Objective: To determine the relationship between the economic level and the implementation of P4K in pregnant women at Puskesmas Pleret Bantul. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional observational analytic design with a quantitative approach. The population were 106 pregnant women and samples were purposively chosen, consisted of 50 pregnant women at Puskesmas Pleret Bantu. The instrument of data collection was a questionnaire. Data were analysed with chi-square. Results: Chi Square test revealed X2 (2, n=50) = 19.659, > X2 table (9.21), that i n d i c a t e d there was a relationship between economic level with the implementation of P4K in pregnant women. Conclusion: The majority of pregnant women at Puskesmas Pleret Bantul had low economic level and had not implemented P4K. Background: The presence of gays in the community still makes heterosexual as normal sex orientation. There are unfair perceptions of heterosexual group that develop into real behaviors which are very detrimental for homosexuals group in the form of stigmatization against homosexuals. Stigmatization for gay in society also comes from health professionals when they think homosexuals conduct violation to the rule of law, social and religious values. Therefore gays tend to visit certain health care providers who are familiar with them or to hide the identity that they are homosexuals. Objective: To determine the perceptions of gays regarding gay stigmatization of health care providers. Methods: A qualitative by using snowball sampling with the total of 10 participants was applied. The Conceptual Content Cognitive Map (3CM) methods followed by interview were utilized to gather data. Results : Six themes regarding gay stigmatization of health care as perceived by gays as follows: (1) gay is a divergence and contagious; (2) being gay is normal; (3) flamboyant and hedonist personality; (4) exclusive and bad personality; (5) at high risk of sexually transmitted diseases, lack of self-control, and diseased; and (6) having good personality. Conclusion : Six themes with predominantly negative perceptions regarding stigmatization on gays by health care providers as perceived by gays describe the need of transformation of health care service to increase the quality of health of minor population like gay. Background: Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain in the lower abdomen to the waist, which is perceived as pain and prickling feeling. It causes disruption of daily activities and learning activities in students. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea in Indonesia reached 64.25%, consisting of 54.89% of primary dysmenorrhea and 9.36% of secondary dysmenorrhea. Objectives: This research was conducted in order to determine the behavioral patterns of adolescents in dealing with health complaints related to dysmenorrhea. Methods: This study was a quantitative research, with descriptive design. The population in this study was second year students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Moyudan, consisted of 93 students. The sample were 72 students with purposive sampling technique. Results: Thirty-eight students (52.8%) chose herbal medicine/herbal drinks to reduce complaints of dysmenorrhea. While 23 students (31.9%) chose to take rest at the school health clinic. Conslusion: Most students in SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Moyudan used herbal medicine/herbal to reduce their dysmenorrhea symptoms.
