Abstract

The aim of this study is to know the significant correlation between mastering simple present tense and the students’ ability to build up advertisement text. This study was conducted on the first year students of MAS Nurul Hakim Tembung (2016). The population of this study was 46 students. In collecting data, I used test. The data was analyzed by product moment correlation. After analyzing the data, the writer finds that there is a significant correlation between mastering simple present tense and the students’ ability to build up advertisement text. It is known ∑ x = (3477), ∑ y= (2930), ∑ x = (280497), ∑ y = (202000), ∑ xy = (226460), the coefficient correlation is (0,3026). While rt (0,294) at ∝ =0,05. It means ro > rt (0,3026> 0,294). So, the hypothesis is accepted.Key Words: Mastering Simple Present Tense, to Build Up Advertisement Text.

Abstract

This research was aimed to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery in learning English by using Simon says game. The subject of this research was seventh grade at MTs Laboratorium UIN-SU Medan in 2017 academic year. This research of this study was conducted by using classroom action research . The data used in this research were quantitative and qualitative data and the instruments of collecting data were used such as: Pre-test and Post-test, interview sheet, observation sheet, and photography evidence. The result of this research showed that there was increasing of students’ vocabulary mastery. The mean of the pre- test was 44.75, in cycle one was 64.5, in cycle two was 80.5, it indicated that the scores and the mean in cycle twowere better than the first one. The percentage of students who got point 70 or more also increased. In the pre-test, there were not students who got point 70. In the post-test of cycle one the students who got point 70 or more there were 23 of students (57.5%). It means that there was an increasing about 57.5%. The post-test of cycle two, the students who got point 70 or more there were 34 students (85%) and the increasing was about 27.5%. For the hypothesis testing used t-tes formula. It could be seen that coefficient of t count (16.19) with fact level = 0.05 was 3.558 in the coefficient of t count (16.19) > table (3.558). Thus, alternative hypothesis (Ha) stated that Simon says game could improve the students’ vocabulary mastery accepted. The score of observation sheet were 4 (very good), and the students were happy to learn vocabulary by using Simon says game it could be seen in the result of interview and photography evidence. It showed that the class rooms were alive and active.Keywords: Simon says game, Students’ vocabulary mastery

Abstract

This study is categorized as a classroom action research that aims to improve the students of learning outcomes in State Primary School 024868 Binjai at Grade VI students by using audiovisual, academic year 2016/ 2017. This study is a collaborative research which is conducted in two cycles using the two methods of data collection which are observation and questionnaire. The data is first collected and then analyzed by the analysis of qualitative data through two stages, namely the presenting the data and drawing the conclusions. Qualitative analysis is then fitted with a descriptive analysis using quantitative percentage to calculate the score Social Sciences subject activities. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of Audiovisual can improve Social Sciences Learning Activities of the students of Grade VI. It is evidenced by an increasing score on Social Sciences Learning Activities of the students’ of Grade VI. It increased from 60% in the first cycle to 90% in the second cycle.Keywords: Social Sciences, Audiovisual as Media in Improve Students Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Mother tongue has a very important role in the mastery of Indonesian language. Mother tongue is the first language controlled by a child in the first year of life. At that time, speaking skill especially spoke, became the most appropriate means for the development of Indonesian language in preschoolers. Intensive communication between the child and the people around him greatly affects his ability to learn language. Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in student learning motivation through the cooperative learning of Snowball Throwing Model. This research was conducted and caused by the low motivation of social sciences learning on the topic of the diversity of ethnic and cultural of Indonesia in the grade V SD Negeri 055985 Pekan Selesai. The subjects of this study were all students of grade V SD Negeri 055985 Pekan Selesai in the odd semester of 2017/2018 academic year, amounting to 21 people. There were 8 male students and 13 female students. This research uses qualitative approach. This type of research is a class action research. The observed results of teachers observed during the study of significant improvements. Viewed from Cycle I, the results obtained are 55% and 65%. But the achievement is still not on the expected achievement. In Cycle II, 80% and 98% were obtained. The results of this study indicate that the interest of students in grade V SD Negeri 055985 Pekan Selesai has increased by 100% after following the study of ethnic diversity and cultural of Indonesia using a model of cooperative learning type snowball Throwing Model. This increase can be seen from the results of the questionnaire of students' learning cycle motivation I get an average of 69 increased student motivation motivation by 57% and cycle II obtained an average of 91 students increased learning motivation by 100%. Thus it can be concluded that there is an improvement in the results of teacher observation by using the cooperative learning type Snowball Throwing Model. In the second cycle of observation the researcher has changed and reached a high percentage level. Based on this result that by applying cooperative learning type of Snowball Throwing Model, so that the students' learning motivation on Social Sciences subject at topic of the diversity of ethnic and cultural of Indonesia in grade V SD Negeri 055985 Pekan Selesai increase and succeed.Keywords: Social Sciences, Cooperative Learning, Snowball Throwing Model

Abstract

This research was intended to find out the empirical evidence of the students’ achievement by using reading corner media in improving students vocabulary grade XI MAN Binjai. This research was quantitative research. The population of this research was the students in grade XI MAN Binjai. The sample of this research were taken from 25 students of experimental group (XI-MIA 1) and 25 students of control group (XI-MIA 2). The instrument for collecting data was a test. After analyzed the data, the writer got; (1) The students improvement in vocabulary by using reading corner media got the mean 91.80 and standard deviation was 6.60. (2) The students improvement in vocabulary without using reading corner media got the mean 76,20 and standard deviation was 8.33.  The value of ttest was 7.344 and ttable was 2.011. So, the ttest was higher than ttable. It means that there was significant effect of using Reading Corner Media on students’  improvement in vocabulary.Keywords: Reading Corner, Students Vocabulary

Abstract

This research was aimed to know the students’ reading comprehension achievement in narrative text through experience text relationship method. The research was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of this study was 43 students at eight grade of MTs Al- Washliyah Tembung Medan in academic year 2016/2017. The research was conducted in two cycles, cycle I consisted of three meetings and cycle II consisted of three meetings. The data of this research were qualitative data was taken from interview, observation, diary notes, documentation. And the quantitative data was taken from the test. The result of the data analyzing showed from mean of pre-test was 53.02 and the mean of the students score for the post test I in the first cycle was 77.44 and post test II in the second cycle was 92.09. The percentage of the students’ achievement in learning narrative text in pre-test was 16.27% which is lower than the post test I was 72.09%, and lower than post test II was 100%. And based interviewed, observation sheet, diary notes and documentation showed that the students’ response at reading comprehension in narrative text through experience text relationship method was very good. It was found that teaching reading narrative text by experience text relationship method could improve the students’ achievement.Keywords: Reading Comprehension, Narrative Text, Experience Text Relationship Method.

Abstract

Communication is an important activity in one's life. Whether humans or animals, everyone wants to share feelings, emotions, thought, ideas and hence develops one way or the other to communicate. It is a basic human right and essential to our quality of life as a social species. In everyday day life we come across various forms of communication. We communicate with one another on may different levels, because we do not have direct access to the thoughts and feelings of another people. We must rely on communication to convey messages to another. There is more to communication than simply using language to speak to one another.
