Abstract

The laboratory is a means of student learning in improving competence. Competence is one of the important elements in determining the quality of human resources, especially in facing challenges in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 which relies entirely on technology and speed. This study aims to design a production line-based Pneumatic Hydraulic Laboratory to improve the automation skills of students majoring in mechanical engineering in the industrial era 4.0. The method in this study uses descriptive quantitative research. Collecting data through observation, design, pretest and posttest. The analysis uses descriptive statistics to describe the results of improving student skills. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that a production line-based laboratory layout design is indispensable in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The planned production design in the study is an automation system for drilling, pressing, conveyor, pick and place robots with PLC and HMI, the application of layout design can increase the average value of automation knowledge and skills (programming and automation simulation). The increase in the average value of knowledge is 22.72%. Meanwhile, the increase in automation competence was 29.23%.

Abstract

The development of technology is currently growing rapidly, especially door lock technology. The door at the informatics engineering laboratory still uses a manual lock system using a key. There are weaknesses in this system, starting from security, namely currently many people can duplicate keys. While in terms of key care, if the key is lost, you must first go to the key duplication area. Therefore, the research team needs to design a door lock system based on Rfid and Arduino in the Computer Laboratory of the Department of Informatics. The purpose of this research is to keep up with the times, which are all automated, to facilitate the process of opening and closing the laboratory door, and to facilitate maintenance. The materials needed to make this system include Pro Micro, RFID sensor, Selenoid door lock, LED, 5V relay module, ID card and acrylic. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of the Informatics Engineering Department of the Banyuwangi State Polytechnic. The method used is the Research and Development (R&D) method, the R&D method is a method for making a product and testing its effectiveness. The stages of the R&D method are potential and problems, system design, tool manufacture and refinement, tool testing. The results of this study are that the research objectives have been fulfilled in facilitating the process of opening and closing laboratory doors and can overcome security problems and key duplication.

Abstract

The equipment of experiment and research of oceanography at the Physics Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bengkulu University are still very limited of type. One of the oceanography equipment is a current meter to measure the temperature and speed of ocean currents. This equipment has limited data recording which is still manual so that it is prone to human error in its measurement. In an effort to overcome the limitations of the current meter above, in this study a temperature and ocean current velocity data logger was developed. This study aims to develop a data logger and test its effectiveness which was carried out in July – November 2021 with four stages. The first stage is design, including hardware design and software design. The second stage is the manufacturing stage, namely the manufacture of data logger hardware following the system block diagram and software development using Arduino software following the system flow diagram. The third stage is the testing stage, which includes the process of testing system performance, calibration and field testing. The fourth stage is evaluation, namely evaluation of system performance, accuracy of measurement results, and refinement of data loggers. Comparative test of the results of temperature measurements using a data logger and current meter experienced a difference between 0.1 - 0.8 oC. While the current velocity measurement using a data logger and current meter shows a difference between 0.3 – 1 m/s. The data logger has been successfully developed and works well, but its accuracy still needs to be improved by replacing the water velocity sensor with a higher sensitivity.

Abstract

Laboratory-Free Services at the Biology Laboratory of Semarang State University are currently carried out online, but there are several shortcomings, including verification of data and document entries, as well as the creation of a laboratory-free certificate is still processed manually. The process of printing a laboratory-free certificate makes services inevitable from the use of paper. in addition, manual processes allow for data errors as well as taking longer. The purpose of this study was to design a laboratory-free service system using Autocrat Add-ons. The methods used in this study include interviews, observations, system design and testing of laboratory-free service systems using the blackbox method. The results of this study are in the form of a system that utilizes Autocrat Add-ons in laboratory-free services. All service processes can be done at any time online, as long as they are connected to the internet. Autocrat add-ons convert data entry into laboratory-free certificates. The results are sent directly to the student's email address so as to make it more paperless. From the results of the black box test, it shows that the laboratory free service system can run well as expected including aspects of short links, google forms, and autocrat add-ons functions.  Theconclusion of this study is that the free service of the FMIPA UNNES biological laboratory was carried out online using the Autocrat add-ons (Add-ons)  to be more effective, efficient and paperless

Abstract

The process of cutting sheet steel plates is a mandatory work that must be done in a manufacturing process that uses plate-based materials. Cutting of sheet steel plates is usually done using a shearing machine, a cutting grinding machine, plate scissors and weld cutting. The purpose of this study focuses on improving the performance capability of the machine / tool, especially in hand grinding machines so that their function is not only limited to cutting workpieces under the hand, but its function can be maximized to cut sheet plates, box pipes, hollows more easily and quickly by adding jig components as supporting components. The stages that must be done are including design, cutting materials in accordance with the design plan, parakitan (Asembly), finishing, the next stage is testing the working ability of the tool. As for the manufacturing site, testing of the working method of the tool is carried out in the laboratory of bench work and plate majoring in mechanical engineering of Banyuwangi State Polytechnic. From the test results, the plate cutting time using a sliding cutting jig tool becomes faster at approximately 2 -3 minutes than a grinder without being installed on the aid tool. From the results of research that has been done, it is seen that the function of tool performance from hand grinding becomes more optimal and able to contribute to the lecture practicum of bench and plate work in the laboratory of bench and plate work department of Mechanical Engineering Banyuwangi State Polytechnic.

Abstract

The employment sector is the one that has been hit the worst by the consequences of Revolution 4.0 in Indonesia. The Internet of Things is one area that human resources, particularly students in the Electrical Engineering Department, must improve (IoT). As a result, IoT learning media was developed in the laboratory, where the current IoT modules are insufficient. The goal of this research is to provide students a fundamental understanding of the Internet of Things. Arduino and ESP8266 are used in this IoT module. The Blynk and ThinkSpeak platforms are used to connect to an internet network based on web services. In this module, you can perform three different types of experiments. The first is the ThingSpeak Application for Temperature and Humidity Monitoring. The temperature in the room was 23°C, with a humidity level of 56%. The second method is to use the Blynk application to measure distance using an ultrasonic sensor. The comparison of measurements on the LCD and the Blynk application yielded results that were consistent with measurements taken using a ruler. The third option is to use the Blynk App to control water volume. As an automatic switch on the tank, a relay module is used in this experiment. The pump will turn on when the water volume is less than 100 liters and turn off when the water volume reaches 265 liters. Finally, this module can be used as a basic learning materials in the Laboratory of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lampung.

Abstract

The laboratory is one of the strategic supporting elements of academic activities in universities. The laboratory is a means for students and lecturers to carry out educational, research, and community service activities. Laboratory users are practicum students, research and lecturers. For this reason, it is necessary to make a special strategy, namely providing provisions for practical assistants. In practicum assistants have a role of almost 85% in the practicum process, so the intensity of assistants with students is much more. The purpose of the study was to measure the effectiveness of assistant training through lab workshops to increase their competence by providing sufficient knowledge about knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemicals and occupational safety and health (K3) in the laboratory for practical assistants in the Laboratory of Animal Husbandry Study Program and Science Study Program. Food Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, UNS. The target for the achievement of this research activity is that the practical eye assistant has knowledge of knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemicals and K3 in the laboratory in a laboratory environment. The method of carrying out the activities is carried out in three procedures, namely (1) pretest and posttest, (2) briefing and discussion, and (3) training and practice on knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemicals and K3 in the laboratory. Data analysis used descriptive analysis, paired sample t-test. The results of this study obtained that the mean or average before the workshop was 86.67 and after the workshop was 90.86 it was very clear that there was an increase in the knowledge of lab assistants after the laboratory workshop. It can be concluded in this study that the training of assistants through lab workshops can be useful for practical eye assistants, increasing their competence in knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemicals and occupational safety and health (K3) in the laboratory at the Laboratory of Animal Husbandry Study Program and Technology Science Study Program. Abstract

The power supply as a voltage source with a DC (Direct Current) output voltage or direct current is often used for electronic equipment, both office equipment and household equipment (Imam Saukani, 2020). In using the power supply, the output voltage is selected and high accuracy is required to obtain the output voltage that suits the user's needs. Often times, the power supply used in the practicum does not produce the right output voltage. The purpose of this study is to determine the value of the difference in the output voltage error generated after first determining the voltage value to be used at no-load using a digital multimeter and an analog multimeter as a comparison. After measuring the output voltage of the power supply, the correct voltage value is obtained in each practicum, measurements made at the same time can give definite results of the value of the output voltage of the power supply, the relatively small difference in results ensures that the power supply is in good condition, the output voltage of the power supply is measured using the measuring instrument with repeated measurements 7 (seven) times at each predetermined voltage and obtained a difference of 0.01V – 0.02V. After taking measurements using digital and analog multimeters, it can be concluded that measurements made before the practicum by measuring the output voltage of the power supply can help get the correct voltage value in each practicum, measurements by comparing measuring instruments at the same time can provide definite results of the resulting voltage value by the power supply, the difference in the results obtained is relatively small so as to ensure that the power supply is in good condition, the power supply can be used on loads or electronic equipment that requires a DC voltage source (Genta Subni Ananda Putra, et al, 2020). Practicum can be done well by measuring the output voltage of the power supply. This difference in output voltage results is what the author uses as research material for scientific writing which aims to find solutions to existing errors.

Abstract

Vocational Colege required a lot of practice. The practice of Refrigeration System, one of practice is charging refrigerant and vacuuming the refrigeration system. Because it was carried out by several groups, what happened was that the refrigerant that had been put into the system was wasted during the process of vacuuming the other groups. This causes an impact on the environment and the health and safety of the practitioner. The type of refrigerant used by the practitioner is the type of HCFC-22 or R-22, which has begun to be limited in use because it is less friendly to the environment and causes damage to the ozone layer on earth. One of the efforts to overcome the large amount of refrigerant that is released into the environment is to manufacture a refrigerant recovery device. This tool is used to take refrigerant from the system into the recovery tube prior to the practice of vacuuming, so as to minimize the wasting of refrigerant into the surrounding air. This study aims to determine how efficient the use of refrigerant is in the Refrigeration System practicum using a refrigerant recovery device. The method used is to compare the amount of refrigerant that enters and leaves during the vacuum process, with and without a refrigerant recovery device. From the results of the research, the efficiency values of refrigerant saving for practice using refrigerant recovery tools were 65.22%; 65.00%; 66.67%; 77.78% and 88.24%. So it can be concluded that the use of refrigerant recovery is able to save the use of refrigerant in the practice of the Refrigeration System.

Abstract

The management of the survey and mapping laboratory at the Civil Engineering Department of the State Polytechnic of Malang so far were used the conventional method, recording stock of equipment and materials supplies and the process of borrowing and returning equipment is done by filling out work papers or forms that are quite a lot so the process is quite time-consuming. The purpose of this research is to create a laboratory management information system using the Delphi 7.0 program, it is hoped that laboratory management that is integrated with computers can make laboratory activities more effective and efficient. By using the research and development (R&D) method, the following research results were obtained: a) a database system that can accommodate the recording of all laboratory management activities; b) software as an interface between laboratory users and the database system. From the series of research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that with an information system that has made service activities in the survey and mapping laboratory more effectively and efficiently.
