Abstract

Introduction: Nurses' lack of understanding and non-compliance in nursing documentation resulted in low quality of documentation and nursing services. One of factors which affects nursing documentation is self-efficacy. The purpose of this study was to know the correlation of self-efficacy and the compliance of nurses in the nursing documentation. Methods: This research used cross-sectional design with the descriptive documentation approach. The sample of the study was 23 nurses in a hospital recruiting with a nonprobability technique type i.e. total sampling. The inclusion criteria in this study were nurses who were willing to be respondents and had at least a diploma in nursing education. The instrument used was a self-efficacy questionnaire and the nursing care documentation compliance observation sheet. Data analysis used Rank Spearman test with the meaning level 0.05. Results: Most of nurses had high self-efficacy (69.9%) and majority nurse obey in nursing care documentation (73.9%). The statistic test showed p value = 0.000 < (0.05) with r = 0.898. Conclusion: This result confirmed that there is a relation between self-efficacy and the compliance of nurses in nursing documentation at hospital.

Abstract

Introduction: School-age children are a vulnerable group who have a high risk of experiencing psychosocial problems, one of which is depression. School-age children who experience depression have adverse effects, such as increasing the risk of committing suicide, being dragged into bad habits, and falling into alcohol abuse, or other drugs as a way to calm down to feel better. Depression is caused by several factors, by knowing these factors can be done to prevent depression in school-age children, so that the incidence of depression in school-age children can be minimized. This study aims to determine the factors that influence depression in school-age children.Methods: The method used in this research is the study of literature. Researchers reviewed 10 articles sourced from Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Springer Link with keywords risk factor, depression, and school-age children.Results: The results of the literature study indicate that the factors that influence depression in school-age children, namely the pressure experienced every day, the school environment, family environment, family finances, maternal depression, premature, and emotional intelligence.Conclusion: Further quantitative research on the factors that influence depression can provide a real picture of the causes of depression in school-aged children in Indonesia.

Abstract

Introduction: Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is a nosocomial pneumonia which develops after the patient received 48 hours of mechanical ventilation intubation. VAP raises various problems such as prolong length of stay and ventilator time, increase treatment costs, and increase risk of death. Appropriate and effective oral care is one of the nursing interventions that can reduce the incidence of VAP. The aim of this study was to identify procedure of oral care for prevention of VAP in critical patients. Methods: This research method is a literature review. Literature is searched through electronic database such as EBSCOhost, Scopus, Science Direct, and Proquest. The inclusion criteria of article were randomized controlled trials or randomized clinical trial designs, evaluate oral care effects on the prevention of VAP in critically ill patients, full text articles and publication years from January 2013 to May 2020. Results: Search results found as many as 38 articles, but only 9 articles were eligible to be reviewed. This review indicate that oral care has a significant effect on the prevention of VAP. The combination of toothbrush and swab is the most appropriate equipment. Chlorhexidine 2% was the most influential solution in reducing the incidence of VAP, while the frequency of oral care was most effective when adjusted to the results of the Back Oral Assessment Score (BOAS). Conclusion: This result reinforces the use of chlorhexidine in the oral care of mechanically ventilated patients. Oral care assessment needs to be done by nurses to guide in determining the frequency of oral care.

Abstract

Introduction: Providing a warm feeling to a particular area of one of the lower backs using warm water and a jar generates warmth on parts of the body to reduce pain. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of warm compresses against back pain in third trimester pregnant women in a Public Health Center in Pekanbaru. Methods: The study used a quasi-experiment design with a non-equivalent control group research design employing a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 30 respondents. The measuring instrument used is the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Statistical analysis used the dependent t-test and independent t-test. Results: Univariate analysis results showed that 90.0% of respondents were 20-35 years old, while the distribution of high school education level was 36.7%. The highest distribution of work as housewives was 43.3%, with the highest gravida status being multiparous was 50.0%. The majority of the Minang respondents were 40.0%. The highest gestational age was 30 weeks experienced by 23.3% respondents. The average pain intensity of the pretest experimental group was 4.53 and the posttest value was 3.07, with a difference of 146, while the control group pretest control group was 4.40 and posttest which was 4.07, there was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in the control group. The results of statistical analysis showed that p value = 0.001 <α (0.05), so it was found that the warm compress effectively reduces the intensity of back pain in third trimester pregnant women. The warm compress can be recommended as a complementary therapy for back pain.

Abstract

Introduction: Post-partum mothers experience an inadequate sleep quality, either because of new roles or changes during postpartum. The use of drugs in the postpartum period requires consideration because it is risky for both mother and baby, so non-pharmacological interventions are safer alternative choices. During the postpartum period, the mother also carries out her own care so that non-pharmacological interventions are needed because they can be doing by self. This literature review aims to know the types of non-pharmacological interventions to improve the sleep quality of postpartum mothers. Methods: This literature review search uses the database of Science Direct, PubMed, Google Scholar, EBSCO using the keywords "sleep quality, postpartum, intervention, nonpharmacology". The review involves 12 articles meeting the inclusion criteria. Results: The results of review founded some interventions including back massage, foot reflexology, auricular acupressure, pilates exercise, gymnastic aerobic, chamomile tea, lavender tea, orange peel essential oil, lavender aromatherapy, lavender cream, are significant nonpharmacological interventions to improving sleep quality in postpartum. Conclusion: The most improvement in sleep quality with foot reflexology so this intervention can be an option in nursing interventions in postpartum mother who experience sleep disorder.

Abstract

Introduction: The quality of nursing services in the Emergency Department was greatly affected by the high number of stagnant patients resulting in their satisfaction. However, limited evidence was shown about the satisfaction level of stagnant patients in the Emergency Department in Indonesia. This study aims to know the satisfaction level of stagnant patients on the services in an Kupang Emergency Department. Methods: The total sample in this study was 109 respondents recruited by an accidental sampling method. Data were taken using a questionnaire of Brief Emergency Department Patient Satisfaction Scale (BEPSS); and analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage). Results: The results of this study showed that as many as 89% of stagnant patients were satisfied with Emergency Department's  services. The responsiveness dimension had the highest level of stagnant patient satisfaction (99.1%) compared to the tangible dimension (78.9%). The quality of service provided to stagnant patients in the emergency department should be improved especially on the tangible dimension though the majority of patients were happy with the service. Suggestion: This study suggests to the hospital to manage a comfortable ED surrounding to the patients.

Abstract

Introduction: Transgenders have a high risk of depression caused by self-concept. the complex aspect of self-concept has led to different results among researchers in examining the relationship between self-concept and depression experienced by transgender. The purpose of this study was to strengthen evidence on the relationship between self-concept and depression in transgender.Method: This study uses a literature review method. Articles searched through Google Scholar, Cambridge, Clinical Key, NCBI, MDPI, and Science Direct. Articles were selected based on several criteria including: research with a minimum sample of 15 transgender, publication year 2011-2020, written in Indonesian or English, and full text articles. Quality assessment as a method to assess the relevance of the journals. Results: Eleven articles were selected based on the sample criteria, but only 7 articles were relevant to be reviewed. The results of the synthesis show that there is a relationship between self-concept and depression in transgender people. The level of depression in transgender is influenced by several factors, including: lack of social support, low self-esteem, body image dissatisfaction, lack of coping skills, social and emotional loneliness, and low sexual satisfaction.Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between self-concept and depression in transgender people, but there is no strong evidence that proves the influence of organizational involvement on self-concept in transgender.

Abstract

Introduction: Occupational health problems in the home industry are found in many work-related diseases and unsafe workplace conditions, one of the diseases arising from work is musculoskeletal complaints. Mckenzie cervical exercise can reduce neck pain however it has not been proven for home industry workers. This study aims to determine the effect of Mckenzie cervical exercise on the scale of neck pain on workers in tofu home industry. Methods: This research design used pre-experimental design with one-group pre-posttest design. The number of samples were 30 respondents with a total sampling technique. The instrument was the Numeric Rating Scale and data were collected using interview techniques. Results: Workers with neck pain in the “tahu” home industry were provided Mckenzie cervical exercise. The statistical test used was the dependent t-test. The results showed that Mckenzie cervical exercise is effective in reducing the scale of neck pain with a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion: The recommendations of this study are for routine workers to perform Mckenzie cervical exercise therapy in each implementation in order to help reduce the scale of neck pain in tofu home industry workers

Abstract

Introduction: One of problems experienced post-partum mothers is urine incontinence. Kegel exercise effects on urine incontinence post-partum mothers and elderly. However, limited study search for its effect on multiparous post-partum mothers. This study aims to determine the effect of Kegel exercise on urinary incontinence in multiparous post-partum mothers.Methods: The research design used was a quasi-experiment with a post-test with control group design which was divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research was conducted in the work area of Rejosari Public Health Center with a sample size of 34 respondents with the criteria of multiparous postpartum mothers who experienced urinary incontinence in normal labor with a purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument used was the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICIQ-SF). Data analysis used dependent and independent t-test.Results: The results of the dependent t-test statistic with α 0.05 showed that Kegel exercise was effective against urinary incontinence in the experimental group p value (0.000) and the control group p value (0.033) and the results of the independent t-test showed that there was an effect of Kegel exercise on urinary incontinence in the experimental group and the control group p value (0.004). The results of this study can be used as a reference for using Kegel exercises as a way to deal with complaints of urinary incontinence in multiparous post-partum mothers.

Abstract

Introduction: Cervical cancer treatment process proves to make women experiencing emotional distress that brings new problems in life. Women with cervical cancer who undergo treatment suffer affecting all aspects of life that impact on the meaning of life. There is limited literature review regarding life meaning resources and technique used by women with cervical cancer who undergo treatment. The aim of this study is to find out description about the meaningfulness in life of cervical cancer survivor during treatment period based on sources and technique of finding meaning. Methods: This study used literature review method. The literature search engines used are SCOPUS, SINTA and Google Scholar. The inclusion criteria of article were articles in Indonesian or English, containing sources and techniques for finding meaning in abstract, respondents cervical cancer survivor and published from 2011 to 2020.  Results: Eleven articles show the existence of meaning in life build upon sources of meaning in life including creative, experimental, attitudinal, and hopeful values. Moreover, there are techniques in seeking meaning involving self-understanding, positive action, familiarity with relationships, deepening the values of the meaning of life and worship. Conclusion: The beginning of treatment process results feelings of meaningless, but efforts to make sense of life remain. Family support and spirituality were found to be the things that give the most meaning for cervical cancer survivors to survive.
