Abstract

Introduction: Patient participation is globally recognized as one of the main factors for promoting quality and safety of health services. Active patient participation is a patient safety priority for health care. Yet, patients and their preferences are less understood. Literature review related to determinants of patient participation last five years is limited. The aim of this study was to determine the factors that influence patients to participate in patient safety. Methods: This study used a literature review method by searching online data. Literature was searched through electronic database such as EBSCOhost, Science Direct, and Scopus. The inclusion criteria of article were respondent to the article found are inpatient and nurse, full text articles and publication years from 2015 to 2019.Results: Search results found four articles were eligible to be reviewed. This review indicates that there are two factors that influence patient participation in patient safety, including factors from the patient's side and factors from the nurse's side. Conclusion: These results reinforce that creating patient safety requires the collaboration of all parties, not only from the nurse but also from the patient. Patient involvement needs to be further investigated regarding the extent of patient participation in patient safety.

The pilot study showed that nurses’ knowledge was not related with attitude in managing patients with fractures. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of nurses and the management splint of fracture patients in the emergency room, Southeast Sulawesi Province in 2020. Methods: The study was conducted using a cross sectional design method. The population were 34 nurses in a emergency room at Hospital X Southeast Sulawesi Province. A total of 34 samples were taken by total sampling. Results: The results showed that most of the respondents had good knowledge (50.0%), most of the respondents had good attitudes (88.2%). There was a strong relationship between knowledge and the management of fracture patients (p value = 0.001 and p = 0.569), there was a strong relationship between attitude and the management of fracture patients (p value = 0.000 and p = 0.622). Conclusion: Researchers suggest to nurses in emergency room always improving their knowledge, education, skills and maintain motivation in providing emergency services to patients who have fractures.

Abstract

Introduction: Several nursing implementations do not match with nursing intervention classification. This situation requires further study to prove it. This study aims to describe nursing implementations on tuberculosis patients with airway clearance ineffective and imbalance nutrition: less than body requirement. Methods: This study was a quantitative observational descriptive study. Data were collected by observing nursing implementation documentations during two months. The research variable was nursing implementation in pulmonary tuberculosis patients. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Results: Most of the implementation carried out by nurses in the diagnosis of ineffective airway clearance was providing oxygen (58.1%) and the second order was recommending sputum in the pot (10,5%). Most nursing implementation in diagnosis imbalance nutrition: less than body required was to educate the diet (85.7%), and the smallest is to recommend eating that is not spicy (1.2%). Conclusion: The most implementation that nurses do to overcome the diagnosis of ineffective airway clearance was giving oxygen to the patient. While the most implementation that nurses do in diagnosis imbalance nutrition: less than body required was educate the patient's diet. Interventions carried out by nurses are activities of the intervention, not nursing interventions. Further studies are required to improve nurses’ skills to implement according to standards.

Abstract

Introduction: Students who writing their thesis experience difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic result in anxiety. The feeling can arise due to a low self-efficacy that view difficult experiences as threats and think about the possibility of failure. Previous studies show different relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety thus requires further research particularly in seeking the relationship of self-efficacy and anxiety on thesis’s writing among undergraduate nursing students. Methods: This study was a correlational study with all of undergraduate nursing students who is writing a thesis as the population. Subjects (112 students) were selected by a proportionate stratified random sampling method. Questionnaires used in this study were General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSRAS). Data analysis was performed by Pearson Correlation tests. Results: Main results distinguished that there is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety of undergraduate nursing students who is writing a thesis with r = -0.445 which is indicate that the relationship between two variable is strong enough.Discussion: Students need to make a list of goals to be achieved, so they are encouraged to try to achieve these goals more. Moreover, students can conduct a variety of things to reduce their anxiety.

Abstract

Introduction: The knowledge and behavior of the community in seeking health facilities for the treatment of tuberculosis were studied separately by previous researchers, so it is necessary to do a literature review to get a complete picture of this phenomenon. This study aims to obtain an overview of knowledge about tuberculosis and the behavior of people seeking health facilities in the treatment of tuberculosis in various previous studies. Methods: The study was a literature review. The sample of this study was eight articles, with inclusion criteria i.e. published in journals in the last 10 years, descriptive research, and full text. The articles were obtained through the search engines Science Direct, Scopus and Ebsco Host. The literature analysis was carried out by means of a narrative review and presented in a table. Results: The level of public knowledge about the causes of tuberculosis, signs and symptoms of the disease, modes of transmission, ways to prevent transmission, as well as knowledge that tuberculosis can be cured varied from low to high levels of knowledge. People take advantage of government and private health services, buy drugs at pharmacies, and go to traditional healers/traditional healers to get treatment for tuberculosis. Conclusion: There are still public misunderstandings about tuberculosis and obstacles in utilizing health facilities for the treatment of tuberculosis. Therefore, health education and counseling need to be improved so that public knowledge related to tuberculosis is getting better and has a positive impact on the behavior of seeking health facilities in the treatment of tuberculosis. It is necessary to conduct further studies on the factors that underlie people's behavior in seeking health facilities in the treatment of tuberculosis.
