Abstract

Indonesia's territory, which consists of land and sea, is a positive side that supports aspects of public health. The sea can be used as a vacation spot (mental health) while the land can be used to plant herbal plants (body health). Community knowledge about these health benefits is shared in folklore activities, in the form of folk songs. People create songs to store and share knowledge about health. The folk songs are Prau Layar, Padhang Wulan, Suwe Ora Jamu, and Kodok Ngorek. This study aims to explore indigenous knowledge in those folk songs. The results showed that the knowledge contained in folk songs was mental health (the importance of picnics at the sea, playing and joking with friends), body health (taking naps), and the names of ingredients for making jamu (traditional health drinks). The conclusion is that the indigenous knowledge contained in folk songs is mental health, body health, and herbs for making traditional health drinks. The findings in this study is that cassava leaves and sweet potato leaves have potential as natural skincare ingredients.

Abstract

This This article discusses the development of Pontianak port from 1980 to 2012. Pontianak Port is an important port because, in addition to being a shipping port, it is also a loading and unloading port for commodities such as rubber, tengkawang, and wood. This research uses historical methods to describe the factors that influenced the development of the Pontianak Port. The results show that Pontianak Port does not stand alone and is an inseparable part of the development of other sectors. The development of industries such as rubber in West Kalimantan, adequate port facilities, the construction of the Trans Kalimantan Road which facilitated the delivery of goods from the interior to the port, and the development of Ketapang port became important factors in the development of Pontianak Port. However, in its development, several factors hinder the development of Pontianak Port such as silting of the port entrance and also dredging the pond.

Abstract

This article focuses on the dynamics of North Beach reclamation in Penjaringan sub-district. Reclamation is an activity that is considered beneficial for improving the use of land resources. This study uses the historical method to explain the policy underpinning the implementation of reclamation and the impact of reclamation on social life in Penjaringan Sub-district. Reclamation development has been planned since Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 52/1995 on Reclamation of the North Coast of Jakarta was issued by the New Order government. In its implementation, the policy that led to the implementation of reclamation had adverse impacts in both environmental and social aspects. This was caused by overlapping policies that only benefited the developers. In addition, the implementation of reclamation as an implementation of government policy did not pay attention to the social and environmental impacts for the surrounding community.

Abstract

his article discusses the existence of KUD Mino Saroyo and its influence on the social life of the fishing community in South Cilacap District, Cilacap Regency from 1978 to 1996. This study uses a historical method to analyze the development of KUD Mino Saroyo since its establishment and its influence on the socio-economic life of the fishing community in South Cilacap District. KUD aims to improve the welfare of its members and their families through certain businesses, such as: savings and loans/credit businesses that aim to meet the credit needs of its members, shops that provide fishing equipment and supplies, and services such as fish auctions. However, the results of the study indicate that the development of KUD Mino Saroyo has not had a significant influence on the socio-economic life of the fishing community in South Cilacap District. This can be seen from the socio-economic conditions of the fishing community which are still considered difficult. So far, the cooperative has not been fully able to provide the needs of the fishing community, such as savings and loans/credit with low administration costs and goods needed for fishing at affordable prices.

Abstract

Bugis fishermen as residents of Kemujan Village came through migration. They have traditional knowledge in the fishing system by utilizing simple equipment. Before 1960, they still caught fish using sailboats. Using historical methods, this study analyzes changes in the modern equipment system after the modernization of fishing gear and changes in fishing orientation leading to large-scale fishing. This study also aims to describe the impact of changes in orientation and modernization of fishing gear for Bugis fishermen in Kemujan. The changes were based on the revolutionary policies of the New Order Government. Fishermen gradually used boats with outboard engines. Then, the existence of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and fish finders influenced the ease of fishermen to catch fish at sea. However, in practice there is a gap in the fishing community because not all fishermen can access these new economic sources. The results of the study show that there is a reduction in income because government assistance often does not reach ordinary fishermen but can only be accessed by the juragan.
