Abstract

Background: COVID-19 in Indonesia spreads very quickly, including in-company areas or workplaces.  Workplace clusters are the most common cluster at East Kalimantan.  As a region with many workplaces, both offices and industries, East Kalimantan is bound to have a large number of office clusters.  Moreover, most of the workers in East Kalimantan are migrants from outside the region, which causes the spread of the coronavirus to the workplace even more widely. This also happened to PT.  Pertamina EP Asset 5 Sangatta Field, where some of the workers are workers from outside the East Kutai area.  With the presence of several workers who have tested positive for COVID-19, it is a frightening thing for others, especially other workers. Negative stigma may occur among workers in this company.Method: The research design used in this study is cross-sectional since this study wants to know the knowledge and attitudes towards the stigma of COVID-19, which is measured at the same time. This research was conducted from November - December 2020. The population in this study were all workers who worked at PT Pertamina EP Sangatta Field, in total of 238 people. Results: It shows that attitude relates to stigma COVID-19 among workers (P-Value = <0.001), although knowledge has nothing to do with stigma. The importance of accurate information is expected to reduce stigma in society. Discrimination and fear regarding COVID-19 must be minimized in order to gain acceptance by the community.

Abstract

Background: A prison or Detention Center is a closed community with a high risk of COVID-19 transmission. Preventive efforts to disseminate the virus are needed as soon as possible for the safety of assisted residents who have the possibility of conducting social distancing, considering that the number exceeds the ideal capacity of the detention centre. This study aimed to describe the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of assisted residents at Detention Center Class II B Kolaka regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic, which is very important as an evaluation of the condition of the inmates as a closed community and as a consideration for related parties for further local policymaking. Method: This was quantitative research using the cross-sectional design. There were 166 samples in Detention Center Class II B Kolaka. The instrument used was a questionnaire using 20 items. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Out of 166 respondents, 92.8% had good knowledge, 87.3% had a confident attitude, 86.7% practised vigilance against the COVID-19 Pandemic. Based on the analysis using Chi-Square, it was found that p-value = 0.000, which means that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and practice and between the respondent's attitude and practice.

Abstract

Background: Research related to health literacy among children is limited due to the lack of appropriate measurement tools for this population. The measurement tools used to measure health literacy among children are usually adapted from the adult versions. Researches related to instruments measuring health literacy that can be used for children in school environments are inadequate. This study aimed to synthesize research on the instruments that measure health literacy among children in the community setting. Method: We carried out a scoping review to synthesize research on the instruments measuring health literacy among children in the community setting. The article searching process was targeted to collect articles with corresponding populations, concepts, and contexts. The search was conducted through PubMed, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and Sage Journals databases published between 2010- 2020. The selection process was done using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses methods (PRISMA). The following critical appraisal used The Joanna Briggs Institute checklist. Results: Out of 328 studies, six articles were selected for this review. Consensus showed that health literacy needs to be applied in various situations. Improving the health literacy of children in the early stages is crucial for children's development and personal health. Several instruments can be applied to measure health literacy in school-age children, such as Health Literacy Measures for Adolescents, Health Literacy for School-aged Children in the English, Turkish and Lithuanian versions, and Chinese version of the eight-item Health Literacy Assessment Tool. Generally, the instruments are adequate, while only two instruments in this study are inadequate because they do not describe the validity and reliability.

Abstract

Background: Poskestrens' cadres as the ambassador in improving Clean and Healthy Life Behavior (CHLB) of the students at boarding school. They also could plan and solve the problems that happened at boarding using any available potential resources. However, the CHLB survey at boarding schools conducted by cadres shows that most students at boarding were not interested in doing the CHLB. This study analyses the determinant factors of Poskestren cadres' behaviour to increase CHLB practice at Islamic boarding schools.Method: This research was quantitative and analytical research with a cross-sectional approach. Sixty-seven Poskestren cadres were selected in this study by using a stratified proportional random sampling technique. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. Results: The results show that 52.2% of Poskestren cadres had good behavior in improving CHLB at Islamic boarding schools, and the remaining 48.8 were still less behaviour. The Chi-Square statistical test shows no significant relationship between age, education, facilities, infrastructure availability, and the Poskestren cadres' behaviour. However, there was a significant relationship between knowledge, attitudes, encouragement from health workers, motivation from the boarding school caregivers, and the Poskestren cadres' behaviour. The most substantial relationship of this study was the knowledge of Poskestren cadres (p value = 0.000, OR = 16,500). This study suggests that health workers' encouragement by providing virtual-based counseling to the cadres needs to be conducted to improve the Poskestrens cadres' knowledge and attitudes to CHLB.

Abstract

Background: Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) is an infectious disease caused by filarial worms and transmitted by mosquitoes. Mass drug administration (MDA) for LF is used in endemic areas to stop transmission and prevent disability due to LF. This study aims to identify factors associated with overall compliance with the MDA in 2018 in the catchment areas of Waihaong and Air Salobar Health Centers, Ambon. Method: This analysis used data derived from a survey conducted by the Faculty of Medicine Pattimura University, Ambon, in January 2019. We used information from 745 subjects who received LF drugs in both study areas. Logistic regression analysis was employed to determine factors associated with community compliance with taking filariasis drugs. Results: Our study found that only 67% of the community swallowed LF drugs (60,3% in Waihaong and 72,6% in Air Salobar). Higher compliance with swallowing the LF drugs was found in respondents living in the catchment area of Air Salobar Health Center (OR=2,01, 95%CI:1,42-2,86, P-value<0,001);with a high level of knowledge (OR=1,91, 95%CI:1,34-2,74, P-value<0,001 and with a high sense of trust towards the drugs deliverers (OR=4,93, 95%CI:2,17-11,22, Pvalue<0,001). Furthermore, respondents who felt a high moral obligation to take the drugs (OR=2,39, 95%CI:1,15-4,94, P-value=0,019); and received social support to take the drugs (OR=5,12, 95%CI:3,18-8,23, P-value<0,001) were also more likely to comply with treatment. This study shows that health promotion interventions to increase community awareness and knowledge are still required in Ambon City despite many rounds of mass drug administration. Various educational media and efforts to increase knowledge and capabilities of the drug deliverers are essential to improve community compliance with taking LF drugs.

Abstract

Background: As much as 88% of work accidents are caused by unsafe behavior. Encouraging a safety culture through a behavior-based safety approach could prevent work accidents. PT X's Mulawarman University building construction project reporting from June 2018 to November 2019, there were 13 accidents. It is crucial to encourage a behavior-based safety approach by promoting occupational safety and health to prevent accidents in the workplace. The research objective was to determine the relationship between safety promotion consisting of safety talk, K3 training, supervision with safe behavior in PT X construction workers, and the Mulawarman University building construction. Method: This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional method. The population of this study was all employees of PT X, with a sample of 138 workers using probability sampling techniques with a proportionate stratified random sampling method. The data source obtained from a questionnaire that previously tested the validity with a value> 0.361 and reliability with a value of safe behavior (0.892), safety talk (0.920), training (0.920), and supervision (0.739). Bivariate analysis using Spearman Rank test and multivariate analysis using Binary Logistics Regression test (significant level 0.05). Results: The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between safety promotion which consists of a safety talk (p-value = 0.001), training (pvalue = 0.009) and supervision (p-value = 0.001) with safe behavior in PT X building construction workers. The variable that has the level of influence on the safe behavior of workers is the supervision variable. Therefore, efforts to improve by having a commitment through safety promotion activities and involving workers in implementing safety in the company environment are critical.
