Abstract

Many research had been done about pepper cultivation in post tin mining area, but there are still have problems with the growth of pepper plants. This is caused by the rapidly decreasing of nutrients available in the post-tin mining area. This research conducted to know the growth response of one-year-old pepper in post-tin mining area by different single inorganic fertilizer doses. And obtaining single inorganic fertilizer dose which gives the best response to the growth of one-year-old pepper in the post-tin mining area. This research began from January to May 2018 in post tin mining area owned by PT. Timah in Dwi Makmur Village, Merawang, Bangka. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (RBD) with a single factor. The factors used were dosages of Single inorganic fertilizer consist DS0(Urea 105 g, TSP 90 g, KCL 80 g), DS1(Urea 125 g, TSP 110 g, KCL 100 g), DS2(Urea 145 g, TSP 130 g, KCL 120 g), DS3(Urea 165 g, TSP 150 g, KCL 140 g), and DS4(Urea 185 g, TSP 170 g, KCL 160 gr). The single dose of inorganic fertilizer showed no significant effect on each growth of variable in pepper, it is possible that the given dose was not effective to stimulate plant growth.

Abstract

Callosobruchus maculatus is a postharvest pest in storage that causes the decrease in quality of green beans. One of control technique that can be done by using clove leaf flour as a botanical insecticide at different storage temperature. The purpose of this study was to know the effect of various clove leaf doses, to know the effect of storage temperature and interaction between various doses with different storage temperatures in controlling C. maculatus. This research used the experimental method with Split Plot design which consists of 3 levels main plot and 5 levels of subplot. Each treatment has 3 replications.. The results showed that the difference of dose and temperature as well as interaction both had a very significant effect on the number of eggs, the number of imagoes and the percentage of seed damage. Water content increased at temperatures ± 15 ºC and decreased at temperatures ±35ºC. The conclusion of this research is clove leaf flour gave effect to mortality of pest C. maculatus, storage temperature effect on mortality of pest C. maculatus, clove leaf dose 5 g per 100 g green beans and storage temperature ± 15 ºC is the best combination in controlling pest C. maculatus on green beans.

Abstract

Germination is first stepping propagation a plant especially of plants yielding seed. Salinity effect during the germination phase can cause obstructed of seed grain because seed grain to experience plasmolysis. The aim of the research to know germination response seed grain of corn in the condition of a stress salt. This experimental was arranged in randomized complete design (RCD) with five replication. This research was done by germinated seed grain of corn in the seedling medium contained salt with the kind of concentration were 0 ppm (control), 2000 ppm, 4000 ppm, 6000 ppm, 8000 ppm then observation of germination seed process 14 days after seedling. The average value was counted with the F test and continued Honestly significant different at the 0,05 significant level. The result showed variable stress salt with concentration 4000 ppm not different significant with concentration 0 ppm

Abstract

Cincalo wax apple has non-climacteric respiration activity with high water content, so that not exactly post-harvest handling will trigger fungal growth. This study aims to determine the effect of edible coating from basil leaf oleoresin and determine the best concentration to extend the storage duration of cincalo wax apple. The study used a single completely randomized design (CRD), there were 4 treatments which were the types of basil leaf oleoresin concentrations consisting of K0 (without the addition of oleoresin), K1 (0,3% oleoresin), K2 (0,6% oleoresin) and K3 (0,9% oleoresin) with 3 replications. The variables observed were weight loss, total dissolved solids, total fruit acids, vitamin C content and organoleptic index. The results showed that the treatment of basil leaf oleoresin concentration had no significant effect on the observed variables, including weight loss, total dissolved solids, total fruit acid, and vitamin C content. All treatments with the addition of oleoresin or without the addition of basil leaf oleoresin tend to have the same results on cincalo wax apple.

Abstract

This study aims to support technically the use of space by adjusting the spacing and the use of high yielding new CI01, CI02 and CI03 maize varieties jointly developed by corn researchers from China and Indonesia with appropriate cultivation techniques. This experiment was conducted in March 2018 in Kediri, East Java, Indonesia. Planting is carried out in beds using plastic mulch. Planting was designed with a high population using a distance of 14 cm between plants, 2 rows per bed, and zigzag planted to obtain 99,000 plants/ha population. With this method, high yields of 13.35 t / ha for CI01 varieties, 13.72 t / Ha for CI02 varieties, and 12.78 t / Ha for CI03 varieties were obtained. The downy mildew disease rate was the lowest 0.8% in the CI01 variety. Economically, the use of high yield pattern planting methods increases yields by more than 20% and increases economic profit by 15% of the cost of corn production.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan lahan dan posisi lereng terhadap kandungan c-organik dan beberapa sifat fisik tanah pada daerah Jatinangor, Jawa Barat. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan April 2018 sampai Oktober 2018. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial. Faktor pertama adalah penggunaan lahan (hutan dan tegalan) dan faktor kedua adalah posisi lereng (atas, tengah dan bawah). Metode pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode survai, komparatif dan deskriptif melalui pendekatan fisiografik (fisiography approach) secara bebas, yaitu metode survai berdasarkan penampakan fisiografis lahan dan pengambilan contoh tanah dilakukan secara transek pada lereng yang sama tanpa memperhitungkan jarak antar titik pengamatan. Pengamatan yang dilakukan adalah C-organik, Tekstur, Bobot isi dan Permeabilitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Penggunaan lahan (hutan dan tegalan) dan posisi lereng (atas tengah dan bawah) berpengaruh terhadap kandungan c-organik dan sifat fisik tanah seperti Tekstur (pasir, debu dan liat), bobot isi dan permeabilitas pada tanah Inceptisol Jatinangor. Penggunaan lahan tegalan dengan posisi lereng bawah mempunyai pengaruh paling baik terhadap kandungan c-organik, tekstur, bobot isi dan permeabilitas tanah dibandingkan dengan penggunaan lahan dan posisi lereng lainnya.

Abstract

Fruit flies Bactrocera spp. (Diptera: Tephritidae) is one of the major pests in chili plants. The information about abundance and dominance of fruit fly species in chili orchard was limited, especially in Bangka Island. The purpose of this study was to determine the abundance and dominance species of fruit flies found in the chili orchard. This field experiment was conducted in the three chili orchard, Paya Benua Village, Bangka. This research used survey method by placing traps with methyl eugenol on host plants, in which four traps were being placed for each location. Traps were set in the morning (06.00-10.00), noon (10.00-14.00), and afternoon (14.00-18.00). The fruit fly species from trapping were identified as Bactrocera carambolae, Bactrocera dorsalis, and Bactrocera umbrosa. A total of 899 individuals were captured, with abundance of 251, 546, 102 individuals for Bactrocera carambolae, Bactrocera dorsalis, and Bactrocera umbrosa, respectively. The results showed that fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis as the most abundant and dominant species in chili orchard, Paya Benua Village, Bangka.

Abstract

Fertilization efficiency is an effort to break the chain of inorganic fertilizer use which is increasingly uncontrolled. This study aims to obtain the most appropriate composting time of enriched organic fertilizer to obtain the most optimal crop yield in the context of the efficiency of inorganic fertilizers N and P. The research was carried out in the Soil Fertility Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture UNSIKA and the Greenhouse laboratory of PT. Pupuk Kujang Cikampek, held during the dry season of 2017. The research was designed using factorial randomized block design. The first factor was the incubation time of enriched organic fertilizer consisting of 3 levels, namely W1 = 21 days incubation time, W2 = 35 days incubation time and W3 = 49 days incubation time. The second factor is a combination of fertilizing doses consisting of 4 levels, namely P1 = 20 tons of organic fertilizer enriched ha-1 + 100% dose recommended inorganic fertilizer NP, P2 = 20 tons of organic fertilizer enriched ha-1 + 75% dose recommended inorganic NP fertilizer , P3 = 20 tons of organic fertilizer enriched ha-1 + 50% dose recommended inorganic fertilizer NP and P4 = 20 tons of organic fertilizer enriched ha-1 + 25% dose recommended inorganic NP fertilizer. The results showed that the combination of treatment of 21 days after incubation + 25% recommended N and P inorganic fertilizers gave the best results in the total functional microbial population, observed growth and component yields.

Abstract

Java turmeric (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) is cultivated as a secondary crop, resulting in variable rhizome quality which can be increased by suitable cultivation methods. This study investigated the effect of different cultivation methods on the rhizome yield of Java turmeric. Different fertilizer treatments(none, organic, inorganic, and semi-organic fertilizer), three groups of rhizome seed size (small (50–80 g), medium (100–150 g), and large (200–250 g)) and three groups of harvesting age (eight, ten, and twelve months after planting) were evaluated in a split plot design experiment. Results show that large rhizome seed size together with organic fertilizer treatment increased secondary rhizome production, yielding the highest number, weight and diameter. As high levels of starch in the primary rhizome are crucial for growth of the plant, the use of large rhizomes for propagation is indicated in Java turmeric cultivation. The highest weight and number of primary rhizomes were yielded when plants were harvested twelve months after planting.

Abstract

Wick system is one of hydroponics system that uses wick asnutrient absorbing media. Chicken feather liquid compost can be used as a substitute for conventional nutrition in pakcoy plant cultivation using hydroponics. This study aims to determine the effect of chicken feather liquid compost and determine the best concentration chicken feather liquid compost on the growth of pakcoy, and to find out the potential of chicken feather liquid compost to replace conventional nutrient solutions in a hydroponic system. This study used completely randomized design (CRD), there were 6 level of treatments which were chicken feather liquid compost concentrations consisting of E0 (1000 ppm Ab-mix), E1 (900 ppm liquid compost ), E2 (800 ppm liquid compost), E3 (700 ppm of liquid compost), E4 (600 ppm of liquid compost), E5 (500 ppm of liquid compost) with 3 replications. The variables observed were plant height, leaf number, leaf color, wet weight and dry weight of plants. The results showed that the nutritional treatment of chicken feather liquid compost had a very significant effect compared to AB-mix, which showed that Ab-mix was superior to the observed variables,ncluding plant height, the number of leaves, leaf colour, wet weight and dry weight of plants. At the first and second week, pakcoy growth was still relatively similar to Ab-mix application. All treatments using compost chicken feather liquid compost could not replace AB-mix nutrient.
