Abstract

Adolescent-parent communication about reproductive health is still considered taboo. This view prevents students from telling their parents about their health problems. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between factors related to adolescent-parent communication about reproductive health. This research method is analytically observational with a cross-sectional approach. Respondents involved were students of classes VII and VIII, totaling 117 people. The results showed no relationship between gender (p-value= 0.182, OR (95%CI)= 0.846-3.686), information access (p-value= 0.561, OR (95%CI)= 0.603-3.314), gender compatibility (p-value= 0.302, OR (95%CI)= 0.707-5.020), and parental credibility (p-value= 0.100, OR (95%CI)= 0.950-4.370) with adolescent-parent communication about reproductive health. Adolescent-parent communication about reproductive health, which is low and high, has almost the same percentage—of recommendations to parents to improve communication with adolescents regarding reproductive health further. The school also needs to add reproductive health education activities.

Abstract

The duration of labour is influenced by 3 main factors, namely power, passage, passanger. Control of these factors is thought to be able to influence the duration of labor so as to minimize the incidence of complications caused by prolonged labour.  Maternal nutritional status, one of which is the weight gain during pregnancy, allegedly affects power and passanger as factors that play an important role in labour. This study aims to determine the effect of maternal weight gain during pregnancy on uterine contractions and fetal weight at Srikandi IBI Public Hospital, Jember, East Java. This research is an observational analytic study, a cross-sectional approach with sample size of 92 mothers giving birth at Srikandi General Hospital in Jember. Collected data was analyzed by inferential analysis using path analysis. It was found that the maternal weight gain during pregnancy had a significant effect on the fetal weight (t-value 3.77 with an estimated value of 0.37), but did not affect uterine contractions either in frequency (t-value 1.62) or duration (t -value 0.69). So it can be concluded that the greater maternal weight gain during pregnancy, the greater the fetal weight. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that health workers will provide assistance so that pregnant women pay attention to increasing body weight during pregnancy based on BMI, so that there are no labor complications due to passanger factors.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy carries the risk of premature birth, low birth weight, and fetus malformations and can impose additional costs on society and families. The prevalence of anemia would be the best indicator to monitor pregnant women’s health and prevent pregnancy complications. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted pregnant women. The prevalence of anemia in pregnancy increased from 38.33% in 2019 to 49.21% in 2020.  In the COVID-19 pandemic situation with social activity restrictions, decreasing family income, and limited access to health services, suffering from COVID-19 are risk factors for increasing the incidence of anemia in pregnancy. This study aimed to determine factors affecting the incidence of anemia in pregnancy during the COVID-19 pandemic in Karangrejo District, Magetan Regency. This study was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional study design. The sample was selected by purposive sampling with a sample size of 52 study subjects. Data were analyzed using logistic regression analysis with SPSS. Factors that increased the incidence of anemia in pregnancy during the COVID-19 pandemic were pregnancy interval (OR=17.67; CI 95%= 1.01 to 116.00; p=0.049),  gestational age (OR=11.39; CI 95% 1.12-116.00; p= 0,040), animal protein intake  (OR= 0.25; CI 95% 0.03 – 2.38; p= 0,044), iron supplementation (OR= 108.47; CI 95% 2.36 – 4978.68; p= 0,016), consumption of tea (OR=36,89; CI95% 1.57 to 868.41; p=0.025). Mothers’ education,  family income, parity, frequency of ANC visits, and COVID-19 morbidity do not significantly affect the incidence of anemia in pregnancy. There were effects of pregnancy interval, gestational age, animal protein intake, iron supplementation, and consumption of tea on the incidence of anemia in pregnancy during the COVID-19 in Karangrejo District, Magetan Regency.  Keywords: anemia;pregnancy;COVID-19

Abstract

Pregnancy due to merariq kodeq or getting married at an early age can be risky because, at that age, teenagers are relatively unable to accept physical and psychological changes. Efforts that can be made for couples who marry at an early age to prepare for a healthy pregnancy are through mentoring. The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of Merariq Kodeq (Bedeq) Education Bale Assistance on Pre-Pregnancy Readiness. This type of research is Quasi-Experimental research with a Post-Test only with Control Group Design approach with a total sampling technique of 60 people divided into two groups, namely the BEDEQ assistance intervention group and the Catin service counseling control group with 30 people in each group. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference between the intervention group and the control group, with a p value of 0.008 (p value 0.05). Most of the respondents had good knowledge after receiving the Bedeq intervention assistance treatment for prospective brides and grooms, 18 respondents (81.8%) and married couples, 7 people (87.5%). Meanwhile, in the control group, the level of knowledge about healthy pre-pregnancy among prospective brides and grooms was 10 people (45.5%) had good knowledge, 9 people (40.9%) had sufficient knowledge, and 3 people (13.6%) had poor knowledge. With BEDEQ assistance, the community, especially teenage brides and grooms, can pay more attention to their physical and psychological conditions in preparing for a healthy pre-pregnancy to prevent the risk of stunting

Abstract

Increasing body weight is an indicator for assessing baby growth. The baby's weight gain in the first year of life is based on whether the baby receives good nutrition from birth to the first six months. The weight gain per week ranges from 140-200 grams. Children 1-12 months experience rapid growth, so it is necessary to maintain the baby's weight according to age. They obtain optimal growth and development results from the interaction of several interrelated factors: genetic factors, nutrition, socio-economic status, health status, hormonal factors, environmental factors, cultural environment, parenting patterns, physical activity, and stimulation. Dietary factors play an essential role in the growth process because they influence the nutritional status of children. Stimulation factors are also critical to stimulate children's growth. Massage is a technique that combines the physical benefits of human touch with emotional benefits such as bonding and weight gain. This research aims to determine the relationship between baby massage and weight gain in babies at the Kasih Bunda Clinic in 2023. This type of research is the Shapiro-Wilk Test with a non-equivalent control group design and a pretest-posttest design. Then, measurements were taken before the pretest on both groups of respondents; then, measurements were carried out again (Posttest) to determine the difference in pretest and posttest body weight. The type of sampling uses purposive sampling. The results of the research were carried out with a confidence level of 95% (α=0.05), as proven by the p-value: 0.000 (p-value ≤ 0.05). In conclusion, a relationship exists between giving baby massages and increasing baby weight at the Kasih Bunda Clinic in 2023. It is hoped that health workers will make baby massage one of the counseling materials for mothers to support the increase in baby weight and teach them how to do proper baby massage.
