Abstract

Purpose done research to know how mathematical communication ability of student either in writing or orally.The type of this research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. The subjects of the research are S-1 students of Mathematics Education Department of UNIPA Surabaya who are taking angle geometry courses that have good mathematical communication ability, good enough and less good that has been predicted by mathematics teacher in that class. Methods of data collection used were observations during learning, tests and in-depth interviews. Research instruments are diagnostic tests and interview guidelines. Data analysis in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis. The data analyzed are observational data during the learning, test results and in-depth interviews that are used to describe students' mathematical communication abilities in writing and orally. The results obtained from this study among others. The result of the analysis of students who have the ability of mathematical communication as a whole found that 28.65% are at level 4, where students are able to use math language (term, symbol, sign, and or representation) which is very effective, accurate and comprehensive. Furthermore, 21.87% of students are at level 3, where students are able to use math language (terms, symbols, signs, and or representations) that are less effective but accurate. So also students who have the ability of mathematical communication at level 2 is 19.78%. Where at level 2 students are able to use math language (terms, symbols, signs, and or representations) that are less effective. Furthermore 25% of students are at level 1, where students in using mathematics language (term, symbol, sign, and or representation) are inaccurate and ineffective. At level 0 where the student does not give answer as much as 4.67%. Keywords: analysis of mathematical communication skills, angular geometry

Abstract

The Good instruments have good realibility and each items have good discrimination power. But the facts, most teachers in making tests just take from a book. Therefore, the author feel the need to analyze the items that are used as an instrument by teachers, so that the results of research can provide input to the instrument used. The purpose of this research is to discribe the instrument viewed from the reability, the items viewed from discrimination power, and test distractors. This research method used is descriptive method. Based on the results of the analysis are obtained that the instrument realibility isn’t good, the items have ugly discrimination power, and the distractors are not function. Abstract

This descriptive study used a quantitative approach that aims at describing the students' critical thinking in solving business mathematics problems with respect to the origin of the school majors. Subjects were students of FEB management UMSIDA first half of the academic year 2016/2017. Data collection techniques in the form of tests to complete the Problem Solving Test (TPM) and the provision of critical thinking questionnaire relating to the work of students on TPM has been given. Data were analyzed using the average, percentage and Pearson Product Moment Correlation test (PPM). And the results showed that (1) the ability to solve business mathematics problems, student majoring in science studies is higher than the ability to solve mathematical problems business student majoring in social studies or student majoring in vocational school (2) critical thinking skills of students majoring in science studies, social studies and vocational school overall thinking ability critical successively shows the critical criterion, quite critical and critical enough (3) critical thinking skills of students at every step of Polya’s Problem Solving as follows: (a) at the stage Understanding the problem, a student of the science studies showed criteria please critical, a student of the social studies indicate criteria quite Critical and student of vocational school indicate the criteria fairly Critical (b) at the stage Make a Plan, a student of the science studies indicates the criteria fairly critical, a student of the social studies indicate criteria is quite critical and student of vocational school indicate the criteria fairly Critical (c) at the stage implement the plan, a student of the science studies showed criteria please Critical, a student of the social studies indicate criteria please Critical and student of vocational school indicate criteria please Critical (c) at the stage Checking Back, a student of the science studies indicates the criteria Critical, a student of the social studies show Critical criteria and student of vocational schools show the criteria, please Critical (4) there is a strong relationship between Business Mathematics problem Solving ability with Students Critical Thinking Skills. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pemikiran bahwa untuk menghadapi tantangan perkembangan IPTEK diperlukan sumber daya yang memiliki keterampilan tinggi yang melibatkan pemikiran kritis, logis, kreatif dan kemampuan bekerjasama yang baik, tiga komponen kunci yang dinilai dalam berpikir kreatif adalah kefasihan (fluency), fleksibilitas (flexibility) dan kebaruan (novelty). Kefasihan mengacu pada banyaknya ide-ide yang dibuat dalam merespons sebuah perintah. Fleksibilitas tampak pada perubahan-perubahan pendekatan ketika merespons perintah. Kebaruan merupakan keaslian ide yang dibuat dalam merespons perintah. Untuk mengembangkan dan mengasah kemampuan kreativitas siswa, maka siswa harus diperkenalkan dengan masalah-masalah matematika yang terbuka yang memungkinkan memiliki cara-cara yang berbeda dalam penyelesaianya serta memiliki jawaban yang beragam atau bahkan memiliki banyak solusi benar sehingga mampu merangsang peserta didik untuk berpikir kreatif, karena dengan masalah-masalah matematika yang terbuka siswa diharapkan dapat mengaitkan antara konsep yang satu dengan yang lain dan menggunakannya dalam pemecahan masalah. Dalam memecahkan suatu masalah, terdapat informasi yang harus diolah dan diserap dengan baik agar masalah tersebut dapat terselesaikan, aktifitas menyerap, mengatur, dan mengolah informasi disebut, itu yang dikatakan sebagai gaya belajar. Banyak ciri perilaku yang merupakan petunjuk kecenderungan gaya belajar seseorang; yaitu gaya belajar visual, auditori dan kinestetik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kreatifitas siswa dalam pemecahan masalah matematika terbuka dengan gaya belajar visual, auditori, dan kinestetik. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga subjek yang masing-masing memiliki gaya belajar visual, auditori dan kinestetik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian diskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Adapun tahapan penelitian yang digunakan peneliti terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukan subjek dengan gaya belajar visual dalam memecahkan masalah matematika terbuka memenuhi tiga indikator kreativitas; yakni, kefasian, fleksibilitas dan kebaruan. Subjek dengan gaya belajar auditori dalam memecahkan masalah matematika terbuka hanya memenuhi satu indikator kreativitas; yakni kefasihan, sedangkan subjek dengan gaya belajar kinestetik dalam memecahkan masalah matematika terbuka hanya memenuhi satu indikator kreativitas; yakni kefasihan. Abstract

Mathematics is a science that underlies the development of modern technology, has an important role in various disciplines and advance the human mind. The development in the field of information and communication technology is influenced and based on the development of Mathematics. Mathematics is a lesson that is directly related to the development of science and technology, both material and its usefulness. So Mathematics needs to be developed and upgraded including materials, teaching and learning process, environment as well as school facilities, as the special purpose of teaching Mathematics in primary school is to develop numeracy skills that are useful in everyday life. Based on the results of observations during the learning, the problem faced by students is the lack of mastery of the concept of integers so that student learning outcomes are still lacking. Teachers also still dominate learning by lecturing method so that happened is teacher centered. This makes the learners less motivated and less enthusiastic in following the lesson. For that we need to make changes in learning that is with the model of learning that creates learning to be student centered. So learning activities centered on the learners, teachers as a motivator and facilitator in it so that the atmosphere of the classroom more conducive. Teams Games Tournament (TGT) becomes one of the learning models that can be applied to change the above paradigm. Abstract

Kereta api merupakan salah satu jenis transportasi umum yang banyak diminati karena mempunyai banyak kelebihan antara lain harga tiket yang bervariasi dan relatif terjangkau oleh seluruh lapisan masyarakat banyak pilihan stasiun tujuan, jadwal keberangkatan dan jenis kelas gerbong yang tersedia. Pertumbuhan jumlah penumpang kereta api di Indonesia tahun 2006 sampai dengan 2017 merupakan data time series yang menunjukkan tren naik dari tahun ke tahun. Double Eksponential Smoothing merupakan metode Eksponensial Smoothing terbaik untuk meramalkan data jumlah penumpang kereta api karena memliliki nilai SSE, MSE dan MAPE terkecil yaitu 71.686.012, 3.258.455,1 dan 0,05. Model Double Eksponensisal yang dihasilkan adalah dan dan . Hasil peramalan jumlah penumpang kereta api bulan Januari sampai dengan Desember 2018 menunjukkan adanya pertumbuhan dari bulan ke bulan sepanjang tahun. Abstract

Pada sebagian besar siswa, matematika merupakan pelajaran yang meninggalkan pengalaman yang kurang menyenangkan dalam belajar. Hal ini disebabkan oleh banyak faktor antara lain faktor siswa, guru, materi pelajaran, kurikulum dan lingkungan. Dari permasalahan yang diungkapkan di atas, hal yang perlu dilakukan untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut adalah mengembangkan buku intisari yang sesuai sehingga dapat meningkatkan komponen penting dalam mengembangkan kemampuan analitis dan kemampuan kritis peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan buku intisari matematika ditinjau dari aspek kelayakan isi, penyajian, bahasa, dan kegrafikan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan. Buku intisari Matematika jenjang sekolah dasar dikembangkan dengan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Adapun tahap-tahap pada model pengembangan model ADDIE antara lain tahap analysis meliputi: a. analisis kurikulum, b. analisis materi, dan c. analisis karakter siswa; tahap design meliputi: a. perancangan garis besar isi buku, b. menyusun peta kebutuhan buku, c. Menyusun instrumen penelitian; tahap development meliputi: a. penulisan buku, b. validasi buku, c. uji coba terbatas, d. revisi buku; tahap implementation dan tahap evalution. Dua tahap terakhir belum dilakukan mengingat keterbatasan waktu penelitian. Buku ini mendapatkan validasi kelayakan isi, penyajian, bahasa, dan kegrafikan dengan kriteria sangat baik, dan dapat digunakan dengan revisi. Dengan beberapa revisi, maka buku ini sudah dapat digunakan dalam implementasi di sekolah. Setelah diimplementasikan di sekolah buku Intisari Matematika jenjang Sekolah, diperoleh nilai ketuntasan siswa yaitu secara klasikal kelas dikatakan tuntas dengan pembelajaran menggunakan buku Intisari Matematika. Abstract

Since October 2017, Electronic automatic payments have been applied in all Indonesian toll roads. This payment system needes an extra system which is able to distinguish the types of motor vehicles that will enter the toll road due to the regulation itself which allow four-wheel or more vehicle to pass the toll road. This automatic system can be built by a classification algorithm, and one of the best is Support Vector Machine (SVM), in order to be able to classify non-linear separable data, SVM must be modified by giving kernel function on it. Furthermore, determining the approriate kernel for every classification problem is a fundamental step, and that’s obviously not easy, to solve that problem the researchers found a method that can make this kernel function more flexible, this method called Multi Kernel Learning (MKL). Main idea of this method is formulating some kernel function to be one kernel function. This framework is built an automatic system to classify the types of motor vehicles using Support Vector Machine modified using Multi Kernel Learning method. The experimental result shows that the system has a good average value of accuracy that is 84.60%, the average value of precision is 84.95% and also average value of recall is 84.60%. Abstract

This research is an experimental research with the aim to know: (1) improvement of the average of mathematical representation skills of class VIII student of SMP Negeri 2 Uluiwoi before getting learning with contextual approach; (2) improvement of the average of mathematical representation skills of grade VIII student of SMP Negeri 2 Uluiwoi before getting learning with conventional approach; (3) an average increase in student representation skills taught by a contextual learning approach is better than an increase in the average of mathematical representation skills taught by conventional learning. The population in this study is all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Uluiwoi academic year 2016/2017 spread in 2 parallel classes with the number of 46 people. The population consists of two classes, then the sample is chosen by specifying the first class as the experimental class and the second class as the control class, assuming that the two classes are statistically homogeneous. This data collection technique uses test and observation techniques. Data analysis techniques use descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of empirical research indicate that; (1) Improvement of mathematical representation skills of class VIIIA students taught by using contextual learning model consisting of 24 students showed average value 46,25 and deviation standard 7,409 with mean increase or average N-Gain value 0, 42 is in the medium category. The improvement of the mathematical representation skills of VIIIB class students taught by using conventional learning model which consist of 22 students shows the average value 49,09 and deviation standard 15,402 with mean increase or average of N-Gain value equal to 0,25 is at low category. Inferential statistical analysis shows that (1) there is an increase in the average ability of students 'mathematical representation after having contextual learning, (2) There is an increase in the average ability of students' mathematical representation after conventional learning, and (3) students' mathematical representation with the application of contextual approach is higher than the conventional learning model in Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Uluiwoi.
