Abstract

Introduction. Dating behavior becomes one of risky behavior in adolescence. The research purpose was to analyze the correlation between smartphone usage and parents role with risky adolescent dating behaviour. Methods. The research design was observational analytic with cross sectional approach. This research was conducted in January 2018. The population was the entire students of class X and XI in Jember X Senior High School. As many as 150 respondents taken with simple random sampling. The independent variables were information seeking, entertainment seeking, use of problematic smartphone, and parents role. The dependent variable was adolescent dating behaviour. Data collection used questionnaire. The data results were analyzed using chi-square and logistic regression (α = 0,05). Results. The research results showed that adolescents with information seeking 5-6 times/day (OR = 7,010; 95% CI = 2,072 - 23,710) and information seeking 2-4 times/day (OR = 4,853; 95% CI = 2,013 - 11,696) tend to have risky dating behavior than adolescents with information seeking > 6 times/day. Adolescents with entertainment seeking > 6 times/day (OR=2,497; 95% CI=1,007-6,190) tend to have risky dating behavior compared to adolescents with entertainment seeking ≤ 4 times/day. Adolescents with poor parent role (OR=2,913; 95% CI=1,294 - 6,554) tend to have risky dating behavior compared to adolescents with good parent role. Conclusion. Wise smartphone usage should be done by adolescent. Parents should be able to open discussion about sexual health and monitor smartphone usage in adolescent. School nurses should be able to provide education related to wise smartphone usage to adolescent.

Abstract

Background. Anemia in pregnant women is currently a national problem of maternal and child health in Indonesia. Based on Riskesdas data in 2013, the prevalence of pregnant women with anemia in Indonesia was 37.1%, namely pregnant women with Hb levels of less than 11.0 grams/dl, with almost the same proportion in urban areas (36.4%) and rural (37.8%). The program of giving at least 90 iron tablets during pregnancy is an important component in efforts to prevent iron deficiency anemia. However, the absorption of non-heme iron can be increased by consuming vitamin C from fruits, vegetables, or other food factors that facilitate absorption. One of them is the local wisdom of Pekalongan Regency, namely sweet potato leaf which is used as a vegetable. The purpose of this study was to determine maternal hemoglobin levels before and after being given the treatment of boiling sweet potato leaves and iron tablets. Methods. This research is a pre-post experiment research (mini-research) with a sample of 4 people who will be assessed and assessed for hemoglobin levels before and after treatment. Results. The result shows that the treatment of 100 grams of sweet potato leaves decoction for 10 days can increase hemoglobin levels in each respondent at R1 1.7 gr%, R2 2.1, R3 2.2, and R4 2.7 gr%. Conclusion. Further research is needed to prove the stronger benefits of sweet potato leaf decoction in helping to increase Hb levels of pregnant women by increasing the number of samples and testing hematocrit levels in the blood.

Abstract

Background. Concentration can determine individual learning achievement. Concentration can be enhanced by implementing Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) therapy method, because EFT can increase the learning concentration by stimulating the limbic system. The study aimed at identifying the effect of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Therapy on Student Learning Concentration. Methods. The research method used in this study was quasi experimental design with the untreated control group design with dependent pre-test and post-test samples. The number of samples in the study was 30 respondents, divided into intervention and control groups using non-probability sampling technique of purposive sampling. The intervention group was given EFT within 30 minutes, three times, and for two weeks. Before and after intervention, the level of learning concentration was measured by using a psychological scale. Data analysis used in this study was t-test. Results. The results showed that there was a significant differences between learning concentration level before and after being implemented EFT intervention (p<0.05) and there was a significant difference in the concentration of learning after being given the intervention between the experimental and control groups (p<0.05). Conclusion. It could be concluded that EFT can improve the concentration of individual learning especially adolescents. The use of EFT is supported by empirical evidence, using simple techniques, easy to be conducted by anyone, and gives no side effects.

Abstract

Background. The transition period for novice nurses is the transition of roles as students become professional nurses. Conflict between expectations and the reality of the roles faced can cause stress. The peer learning learning model is a method of learning with peers that aims to develop skills, ways of thinking, solving problems, giving feedback and communicating with others. This study aims to determine the effect of peer learning on nursing care knowledge and work stress on novice nurses in hospital in Jakarta. Methods. This study used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The novice nurse research sample was divided into two groups, namely the intervention group and the control group with the number of each of 35 respondents using purposive sampling technique. Data collection tools use knowledge instruments about nursing care and Nursing Students Clinical Stress Scale. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test, Chi-Square test, and Multivariate logistic regression. Results. The results showed differences in the quality of knowledge of nursing care and work stress before and after the implementation of peer learning for 3 times in 3 weeks had the possibility of knowledge increased 13 times compared to clinical nurses who did not implement peer learning and had the possibility of reducing work stress 27 times compared to clinical nurses who do not carry out peer learning. Conclusion. The implementation of peer learning is proven to influence the knowledge of nursing care and occupational stress of the novice nurse. It is recommended to carry out scheduled peer learning programs.

Abstract

Background. The process of aging causes various health problems namely the physiological changes of the elderly. The increase in number of elderly is directly proportional to the problems of elderly, including the decreased cognitive function and physical activity. This phenomenon is most commonly found in people over the age of 60 years, but also can attack the age of 40 years. Methods. type of research using quantitative research with quasi experimental pre-posttest design. The Sampling method uses non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. The sample of this research is 62 elderly, divided into treatment and control groups in Puskesmas Jetak Tuban. The questionnaire in this research uses MMSE for cognitive function and Index katz for physical activity. The research was conducted from March to April 2018. Results. the statistical test results uses wilcoxon sign rank test obtained significant values of cognitive function intervention group and physical activity variables, before and after given the intervention, the Elderly Cognitive Care has a calculated value Z= -4.32 and Z = -3.94 with significant value α = 0.00. This result means if value of p value ≤0.05, then the hypothesis is accepted, this means that there is influence of Elderly Cognitive Care to cognitive function and physical activity of elderly in Puskesmas Jetak Tuban. Conclusion. There is an enhancement in cognitive function and physical activity in the elderly, after being given Elderly Cognitive Care. This intervention can be used as management for the elderly against the reduction in cognitive function and physical activity.
