Abstract

End-stage kidney disease is a global health problem with a steadily increasing prevalence. Nurses need standardized nursing care instruments to improve care quality and contribute to overall health care improvement. This study aimed to develop an Indonesian nursing care instrument for patients with end-stage kidney disease. The study used a research and development design conducted in two stages. In the first stage, 101 medical records and 11 respondents were involved, while the second stage included 9 respondents. Samples were selected using purposive sampling. Validity and reliability were tested using the Item Content Validity Index (I-CVI) and Kuder–Richardson 20 (KR-20), and data were analyzed descriptively. The instrument was developed for 10 nursing diagnoses: hypervolemia, ineffective breathing pattern, impaired gas exchange, activity intolerance, anxiety, risk of electrolyte imbalance, risk of imbalanced nutrition, risk of falling, risk of ineffective renal perfusion, and readiness for enhanced nutrition. The instrument was aligned with Indonesian nursing standards, including SDKI, SLKI, and SIKI. By providing structured guidance for diagnoses, outcomes, and interventions, this instrument supports nurses in daily practice, improves documentation accuracy, and enhances consistency and quality of nursing care. Nurses’ evaluations indicated that the instrument is feasible for clinical implementation.

Abstract

Stroke remains a major neurological condition that frequently results in long-term functional impairments and reduced quality of life among survivors. In addition to pharmacological therapy, various non-pharmacological interventions have been investigated to support recovery, among which footbath therapy has demonstrated potential benefits for both physical and psychological outcomes. This systematic review aimed to identify and synthesise current scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of footbath therapy in stroke patients. Following PRISMA guidelines, a comprehensive search was conducted for articles published between 2014 and 2024 in ProQuest, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, EBSCO, PubMed, and Google Scholar, using keywords developed through the PICO framework. A narrative synthesis approach was employed to analyze the findings, with six eligible studies comprising four randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and two quasi-experimental studies. The findings suggest that footbath therapy may enhance parasympathetic nervous system activity, improve muscle strength, and reduce spasticity and physical fatigue. Psychologically, it appears to alleviate anxiety and psycho-emotional stress while promoting comfort and sleep satisfaction. The evidence suggests potential benefits of footbath therapy in stroke patients. Given its low risk and ease of implementation, footbath therapy may be regarded as a promising complementary intervention in stroke patients. However, the evidence is based on a small number of heterogeneous studies, and the overall quality of evidence appears limited, suggesting that the findings should be interpreted with caution. Therefore, high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to strengthen the evidence.

Abstract

Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is a common arrhythmia, and early management is crucial to prevent complications. The Valsalva maneuver, a non-invasive technique, has proven effective as a first-line therapy, with modifications enhancing its success. This scoping review explores evidence on the use of the Valsalva maneuver in managing SVT in emergency and pre-hospital settings, with a search in Scopus and PubMed using relevant keywords. Data were extracted independently from 16 articles that met inclusion criteria. The modified Valsalva maneuver significantly improves the success rate of converting SVT to sinus rhythm, with minimal side effects. Postural modifications were more effective than the standard maneuver and reduced reliance on pharmacological treatments. The modified Valsalva maneuver is effective, safe, and cost-efficient in managing SVT. However, its implementation requires more standardized protocols and better training for healthcare professionals.

Abstract

Sexual misconduct has existed since long ago, and every year millions of children are exposed to various forms of abuse. Pedophilia among children in Demak has become a phenomenon that must be handled properly between perpetrators and victims. Pedophilia among children: Incidents of child pedophilia will disrupt the balance of children's thought processes in the future regarding the concept of sexuality. Pedophilia and child sexual abuse require in-depth scientific knowledge to improve prevention strategies in society. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of knowledge about pedophilia among school children in the Demak region of Indonesia. The research method used descriptive analysis with the CKAQ questionnaire, including children's knowledge related to pedophilia and sexual deviance, with a sample of 196 children with an average age of 10-11 years. The results of the study show that there are still students who lack understanding about pedophilia in the low to moderate range. The conclusion of the study shows that the level of knowledge among schoolchildren regarding pedophilia still needs to be improved through regular education on the importance of knowing and maintaining reproductive health and understanding the correct concept of sexuality.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is a prevalent musculoskeletal complaint during pregnancy, associated with physiological and biomechanical changes that limit daily activity. Structured physical activity and educational interventions have shown benefits in reducing pain and improving maternal attitudes toward exercise. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of physical activity education using a booklet on the incidence of LBP and attitudes towards physical activity among pregnant women. This quasi-experimental study employed a one-group pretest-post-test design without a control group. Participants included 33 pregnant women in the second and third trimesters attending a primary health centre in Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A pretested questionnaire was used to collect data on the sociodemographic characteristics, the occurrence of low back pain, and the attitude towards physical activity during pregnancy. The intervention consisted of structured physical activity education using a handbook containing recommended prenatal exercises, ergonomic guidance, and safe practice tips, delivered over three weeks. Data were analysed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with significance level α=0.05. A total of 29 respondents were included in the study. The median LBP score decreased from 5 to 2 post-intervention (Z = -4.737, p < 0.001). The proportion of participants with a positive attitude towards physical activity increased from 37.9% to 89.7% (Z = -3.638, p < 0.001). Physical activity education using a booklet effectively reduced the intensity of LBP and improved the physical activity attitudes of pregnant women. Integration of structured exercise education into antenatal care services is recommended to promote maternal comfort

Abstract

Ectopic pregnancy Ectopic pregnancy is an obstetric condition with serious clinical consequences. This study aims to map the risk factors and location of ectopic pregnancy implantation based on the latest evidence. The design of this study is a scoping review with literature searches conducted on May 20–23, 2025, through ScienceDirect, PubMed, Web of Science, and ProQuest. Inclusion criteria included open-access original articles published between 2020 and 2025 that reported risk factors and implantation sites for ectopic pregnancy. Theoretical articles and instrument development studies were excluded. The selection and synthesis process followed the PRISMA-ScR (2020) guidelines, the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist (2020), and the Guidance for Conducting Systematic Scoping Reviews (2015). Of the 5,519 articles identified, eight studies with observational (n=7) and cross-sectional (n=1) designs met the criteria. The synthesis results showed that a history of previous ectopic pregnancy was the most consistently reported risk factor, followed by a history of surgery and infertility. The most common implantation site was the fallopian tube, particularly in the ampulla, fimbria, and isthmus. These findings emphasize the importance of comprehensive identification of risk factors to support more effective prevention, early detection, and long-term management strategies

Abstract

Hypertension often occurs in developing countries; limited availability of information about hypertension can lead to increased prevalence, low detection rates, and less than optimal prevention and control, especially in medication adherence. Articles were searched using the PRISMA framework with a search period of November 2025 to December 2025. Articles retrieved were from the last 5 years with a randomized trial (RCT) method, descriptive, and quasi-experimental studies with the keywords mobile health, telemedicine, telehealth, MHealth, medication adherence, and hypertension. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria in the analysis of 7 articles from various countries that have been published and meet the criteria. Interventions provided were in the form of SMS to applications created by a team of experts. Mobile health (mHealth)-based interventions, both through SMS and simple applications, are effective in increasing medication adherence because they are easily accessible, cost-effective, and able to overcome the problem of forgetting and limited health literacy.

Abstract

Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) remains a significant public health issue, with low rates of bystander basic life support (BLS) provision globally. Improving BLS preparedness among schoolteachers may contribute to strengthening early emergency response capacity. The objective of this research is to examine changes in knowledge and attitudes following video simulation-based basic life support training among junior high school teachers. A quasi-experimental one-group pre-post study was conducted among 30 purposively selected teachers from a public junior high school in Samarinda City. Knowledge and attitudes were measured using validated questionnaires before and after the intervention. Changes in categorical outcomes were analyzed using McNemar’s test, and effect size was calculated using Cohen’s w. Significant improvements were observed in both knowledge and attitudes after the training (p < 0.001). The proportion of teachers categorized as having adequate knowledge increased from 4.2% to 96.7%, while positive attitudes increased from 6.7% to 83.3%. A large effect size was identified (Cohen’s w = 0.856). However, given the absence of a control group, the observed improvements cannot be fully attributed to the intervention. Video simulation-based BLS training was associated with improvements in knowledge and attitudes among junior high school teachers. These findings suggest potential educational benefits; however, causal interpretations should be made cautiously due to the quasi-experimental design.

Abstract

The behavior of consuming unhealthy snacks among schoolchildren is still high, which can reduce students’ health. One intervention to improve this behavior is providing education about knowledge and attitudes toward healthy snacks. The aim of this study was to identify the effect of healthy snack education using animated videos on knowledge and attitudes. This research used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 112 respondents, with 56 respondents in each group. The instruments used were knowledge and attitude questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. The intervention included a pretest, animated video screenings, and leaflets in the intervention group, conducted twice, followed by a posttest. In the control group, the intervention included a pretest, leaflets, and a posttest. The study was conducted in two public elementary schools in West Jakarta. The analysis of independent variables between the control and intervention groups using the Mann-Whitney test showed a p-value of 0.001 for knowledge and 0.044 for attitudes. These results indicate that educational media using animated videos about healthy snacks has an effect on improving the knowledge and attitudes of elementary school students in West Jakarta.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women in Indonesia. The VIA examination is important for early detection, but the participation of women of childbearing age is still low, partly due to the lack of interpersonal support from husbands, family, health workers, and friends. To determine the relationship between interpersonal support (husband, family, health workers, and friends) and motivation of WUS members of PCA Aisyiyah Gumelar to undergo VIA examination. This quantitative research uses a correlation study design with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 82 women of childbearing age (WUS) was taken using total sampling techniques. Data was collected through an interpersonal support questionnaire including husband, family, health workers, friends, and motivation, with a research time frame of May 31, 2025, and analyzed using the Spearman rank test (α = 0.05) and logistic regression. The results show a significant relationship between interpersonal support and the motivation of WUS. Support from husbands (p = 0.000; r = 0.533), support from family (p = 0.000; r = 0.614), support from health workers (p = 0.000; r = 0.485), and support from friends (p = 0.000; r = 0.491). Interpersonal support from husbands, family members, healthcare workers, and peers is significantly associated with motivation to undergo VIA screening. These findings indicate statistical associations rather than causal relationships.
