Abstract

Hospital X was class b private hospitals that are located in Batam with 297 unit beds. The waste that can be categorized as solid waste medical in the hospital which is infectious, pharmacy, hazardous and toxic waste, cytotoxic, sharp object.  The purpose of this research is to identify, a source of , the characteristics, solid waste medical produced by hospital X in Batam and also conduct an evaluation of solid waste medical management hospital in accordance with the minister of environment and forestry 56 2015 on procedures and technical requirements of hazardous and toxic waste management than health service facilities. This research used primary and secondary data collection method. The research results show solid waste medical management at the hospital X in Batam most of them are in according to rule. But there are some things that must be improved are blinding trash bag, efficiency and minimal temparature the combustion chamber incinerator. Management efforts must to do are briefing to officer of the waste collection about the way to blinding trash bag in according to the regulation and the incinerator that can serve confirming to standard of burning hazardous and toxic waste.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection  is defined as an acute respiratory disease caused by an infectious agent that is transmitted from human to human. Symptoms include shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, fever, wheezing, runny nose, and cough. This research implements CBR to help diagnose ARI. The diagnosis process is done by entering a new problem that contains the symptoms and risk factors that will be diagnosed in the system. The normalized nearest neighbor method with expert confidence is used to calculate the similarity between new problems and cases stored on a case basis. The results of testing the system using 112 case data with 78 case stored in a case base and 34 data used as new cases data, the system has identified four types of ARI disease with a system performance measurement 97.06%.

Abstract

Poor landfill management and not in accordance with the rules raises serious problems of liquid waste (leachate). One alternative treatment of heavy metal contaminated waste is phytoremediation techniques with aquatic plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of growth on Typha Latifolia test plants using leachate concentrations. The study used the concentration method for diluting V1.N1 = V2.N2 and Regression. The leachate concentrations used were 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% and control. Observation data focused on the number of tillers, root length, leaf length and number of leaf petals. The results obtained from the observation data the higher the leachate concentration, the lower the number of tillers, root length, number of leaves and number of leaf petals in Typha latifolia test plants. This proves that Typha latifolia plants are hyperaccumulator plants that can grow on leachate.

Abstract

Disposal of the residual production of an industry containing hazardous and toxic materials can have a negative impact on the environment and human health. PT. X The Spinning Division is a company engaged in spinning yarn that produces hazardous waste in the production process, especially in machine maintenance. The hazardous waste produced is in the form of used TL lamps, contaminated cotton waste, used oil, and used hazardous packaging. The hazardous waste is toxic, corrosive and flammable. The purpose of this study is to compare the existing conditions of hazardous waste management with applicable regulations. The study was conducted by directly observing the existing conditions and scoring using Guttman scale. The research variables include sorting, storing, collecting, transporting, utilizing, processing and landfill hazardous waste. The results showed that the management of hazardous waste in PT. X The Spinning Division gets a score 34.3% which is categorized “Poor”.

Abstract

Noise level in the classroom is a factor affecting the learning process. This study aims to determine the level of indoor noise of a private university campus in West Jakarta. Measurements were made using Sound Level Meter that can record the noise level every second with accuracy up to 0.1 dBA. Sampling was carried out in a number of classrooms in an empty condition, closed door, and air conditioning system either in off or on position. Classrooms are distinguished based on the condition of the wall, namely the window facing the outside environment and massive walls without windows to the environment. The measurement results indicate a significant difference in noise level at a 95% confidence level in an empty classroom when the air conditioning system is not functioning and when the system is running. Differences also occur in classrooms with and without windows to the environment. The difference shows that the classroom in an empty condition can experience an increase in latent noise level due to the operation of the air conditioner between 5.78-16.49 dBA. Increased noise from the environment including the highway is about 3 dBA for classrooms located on the 5th floor, with a horizontal distance about 100 meters from the highway and has thick and permanent glass windows.

Abstract

The rain intensity is the high rainfall in unit of time. The length of rain will be reversed by the amount rain intensity. The shorter time the rain lasts, the greater of the intensity and re-period of its rain. The value of rain intensity is required to calculate the flood discharge plan on the drainage system planning area in East Karawang district. Determining the value rain intensity is required the maximum daily rainfall data obtained from the main observer stations in the Plawad station planning area. The method of determination rain intensity analysis can be done with three methods: Van Breen, Bell Tanimoto and Hasper der Weduwen. Selected method is based on the smallest deviation value. Determination deviation value is determined by comparing rain intensity value of Van Breen method, Bell Tanimoto, Hasper der Weduwen. By comparing rain intensity value of the Van Breen method, Bell Tanimoto, Hasper der Weduwen with the results of calculating three methods through the method approach Talbot, Sherman and Ishiguro. Calculation results show that the method of rain has smallest deviation standard is method Van Breen with Talbot approach for rainy period (PUH) 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 years.

Abstract

Life Cycle Assessement (LCA) studies in Indonesia have developed since last few years with a various product system studied. This paper aims to provide a critical review of LCA studies that have been performed in Indonesia, which is expected to improve the quality of study in Indonesia in the future. Scope of the study was limited to papers published in national journals and traced through the Indonesian Publication Index website from year of 2010 to 2016. There were 17 LCA studies reviewed, including the studies for renewable energy products, plantation, waste management, water treatment, and several products’ manufacturing etc. Various critical issues found that need further attention to improve the quality of research LCA including the narrow LCA boundary, functional units, data inventory and allocation procedures, the conclusion that exceeds the results of the study, application of uncertainty analysis and sensitivity analysis, and transparency of the report.

Abstract

The construction of the residential and commercial area of Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 Cluster “D” is located in the part of two sub-district, which is Sub-district of Kosambi and Sub-district of Teluknaga. PIK 2 Cluster “D” has an area of 508,59 Ha. With the construction of PIK 2 Cluster “D”, there will be a change of land use and an enchancement of run off water. The relationship between the change of land use and the enhancement of run off water can be seen from run off peak deviation for reset time T year (Qr) on existing condition with planning condition after the change of land use. The method used is the rational method which is estimating run off peak. There is an enhancement off run off coefficient value (C) on existing condition about 0,46 and 0,81 on planning condition which causing an enhancement off run off peak in planning area as the effect of the change of land use as Q = 87,59 m3/second. The enhancement of run off coefficient value as the effect of the change of land use is directly proportional with the enhancement of run off peak in case study residential and commercial area of PIK 2 Cluster “D”.

Abstract

Environmental management in the Nyaru Menteng Arboretum Conservation area especially for the Kerangas forest has not been done much. This research was conducted to determine the analysis of vegetation in the Kerangas forest in the Arboretum conservation area. This research is expected to get the value of vegetation and important value index in the Kerangas forest, based on the results of the study there are 23 types of vegetation found at seedling level, 24 types of vegetation found at sapling level, 14 types of vegetation found on poles, 13 types of vegetation found at tree. Blumeodendron tokbrai vegetation has the highest value with a NIP value of 18,047 at the seedling level. Vegetation type Litsea sp. Has the highest value with a NIP value of 18,159 at the stake level. The vegetation type Syzygium lineatum, has the highest value with a NIP value of 44,584 at the pole level. Vegetation type Cratoxylon glaucum, has the highest value with a NIP value of 48,656 at the tree level.

Abstract

The compilation of a database of public primary school sanitation infrastructure in Rasau Jaya District is based on the 2007 Minister of Education Regulation on the standards for facilities and infrastructure of public primary schools in Indonesia. Besides, this research is also an effort to support the Kubu Raya District one data program which aims to help district governments in planning district programs so that they can be implemented properly and accurately in the field of public elementary school sanitation infrastructure. In this study direct observations to the site and conduct interviews related to the availability of primary school sanitation infrastructure. The number of public elementary schools included in the research area is 18 public elementary schools spread across 6 villages in Rasau Jaya District. The results of this study are in the form of a website-based elementary school sanitation infrastructure database which can be viewed on the website www.sigsanitasikuburaya.com. On the website, data can be seen including the availability of handwashing facilities, latrine facilities, clean water facilities, menstrual facilities, waste management facilities, and drainage facilities.
