Abstract

Slum is a general impression or picture of attitudes and low behavior seen from the standard of living and middle class income. Communities that live in slums economically are generally classified as poor and low-income groups, which are often the reason for the degradation of discipline and disorder in various social order. This study aims to investigate and determine the right location for Family Hope Program (PKH) implementation so program implementation can be more targeted and targeted and able to reduce and overcome the problem of slums in Tebing Tinggi City, North Sumatra province. The method used is to use spatial analysis with a Geographic Information System (GIS) and 5 indicators data from TNP2K. These indicators are combined and modeled spatially using 3 class locations namely Inaccurate, Less Accurate and Precisely Accurate. The results of spatial analysis and modeling are the location of Inaccurate (Tebing Tinggi Kota sub-district), Less Accurate (Padang Hilir and Padang Hulu sub-district) and Precisely Accurate (Bajenis and Rambutan sub-district). The resulting spatial model was validated with satellite photos from Google Earth and photos of field visits using triangulation validation techniques

Abstract

Sungai Mahap is used by the people of Nanga Mahap Village, Nanga Mahap District, Sekadau Regency for daily needs such as cooking, transportation and even consumption as drinking water. Utilization is done by the community because this area has not been flooded with clean water facilities. The quality and status of the Mahap River water quality standard needs to be further examined to study the feasibility of water as an air source used by the community regarding the importance of increasing plantation activities upstream. This research uses descriptive method using quantitative. Air sampling was conducted using a sample survey method with proposed parameters namely BOD, COD, pH, DO, TSS and NH3. Water quality testing is based on Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 and determines the status of water quality using the STORET method and the pollution index based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment No.115 of 2003. In this study, the river pollution load was also calculated. The results show that the composition of BOD, COD, and Fe has exceeded the specified quality standards. The water quality status of the Mahap River is classified as moderate to severe based on the STORET method and Pollution Index. The highest river pollution load occurs at point II, in the dry season at 104.725 kg/day and in the rainy season at 171.873 kg/day

Abstract

The amount of MSMEs units about 99.99 percent of the overall number of business operators in Indonesia showed that MSMEs play a significant role in economic growth and development. At the same time, MSMEs cumulative contribution to environmental issues is not recorded MSMEs participation in the cleaner environment has not yet been noticed. Thus, the environmental management system for MSMes is crucial. This study is a literature review about the implementation of the ISO 14001 environmental management system in MSMEs, challenges and its future potential. The result and discussion discussed the case study of ISO 14001 implementation in Indonesia and other countries. Case studies from Indonesia and other countries showed that implementation of ISO 14001 is possible for MSMEs. The biggest challenges of its implementation is cost, the competence of employees, and resources available for the organization. An alternative for overcoming these challenges is implementing other models of EMS that is more suitable for MSMEs. The important aspects is the environmental awareness of the stakeholders and the internal and external drivers within the organization. Further studies can be done to research specific case studies of EMS such as ISO 14001 or AMEMs implementation in MSMEs.

Abstract

Development in principle is to create changes in a better direction which includes changes in economic structure, creating growth, social change, reducing or eliminating poverty, reducing disparity and overcoming the problem of unemployment. This study aims to analyze the effect of poverty, unemployment, Human Development Index (IPM) and Regional Original Income (PAD) on income disparity (VW) in North Sumatra Province. The results/Inequality condition in North Sumatra Province shows a decreasing pattern which means income disparity/inequality is getting smaller and more evenly distributed. Judging from the average Williamson Index in the western region has the smallest Williamson Index compared to the eastern region of North Sumatra, the poverty variable (POV) has a negative and significant effect on income, i.e. if POV increases, VW decreases. Unemployment Variable (TPT) has a positive and significant effect on VW, namely if TPT increases, VW increases. The Human Development Indexes variable (HDI) has a positive and significant effect on VW. If the HDI increases, the VW increases, and the Regional Original Income (PAD) has a negative and significant effect on VW, if the PAD increases, the VW decreases.

Abstract

Rain intensity is defined as the rainfall falls in per unit time, expressed in mm/hours. Rain determined to get the discharge flood plans in sub-districts west Bogor, Bogor. Discharge flood plan needed to take into account the drainage channel would be designed again in districts west Bogor having problems. The study aimed to determine the intensity of rainfall in west Bogor as the basic determination of the drainage channel in west Bogor. Research carried out by changing the maximum daily rainfall to rain intensity. Methods used the method Bell Tanimoto, Van Breen, and Hasper Der Weduwen which is a statistical method and produce the intensity of rain. The amount of rain obtained will be substituted into formula Talbot, Sherman, and Ishiguro, and then compared to the early rain intensity. The selection method determined based on the value of the smallest standard deviation. The result of this study showed that the method chosen to determine the intensity of rain is Van Breen Method with Talbot Formula.

Abstract

As time goes, the pace of growth and social functioning of the physical and socio-economic areas of Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) experienced rapid development, so the policy of national spatial and policy The provincial spatial of West Java emphasized the need for adequate infrastructure development to make the city of Bogor ideal as a buffer area (hinterland) of DKI Jakarta. Referring to the condition of development dynamics of Bogor City, two important things to consider are changes in land use and spatial planning, because city drainage problems arise due to these changes. then to anticipate these problems, it is necessary to immediately review the Bogor City drainage masterplan, and it is necessary to study the material and formulate alternative solutions in the area that will be prioritized for handling. This study aimed to discuss about the arrangement of areas that will be prioritized for handling, based on Peraturan Menteri Pekerja Umum No. 12 Tahun 2014 about concerning Procedures for Planning a City Drainage System. This study can be used as a recommendation to determine priority areas for Central Bogor District.

Abstract

Antang Furniture Center in Makassar is one of the wood industries and is still traditionally. The wood processing produces waste containing cellulose that is difficult to degrade. This study aims to isolate and observe the characteristics of cellulose degrading bacteria. This research was conducted at the Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, Makassar from March 2019 to November 2019. The method used was an experimental laboratory consisting of Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (CMC) media for bacterial selection and characterization including microscopic morphology with Gram staining and morphology macroscopic with colony structure. The results showed that cellulose degrading bacteria were characterized by the formation of clear zones formed on CMC media in petri dishes. Based on macroscopic and microscopic morphological characteristics, eleven types of cellulose degrading bacteria isolates were obtained. The isolates obtained can be a source of bacterial isolates for further application in wood waste or other wastes that contain of cellulose.

Abstract

Waste management in the Dasan Agung Market in Mataram City still uses conventional patterns. This pattern is not in line with the NTB Province policy that launched the concept of zero waste in 2019-2023. One approach that can support the program is the 3R method of waste management. This study aims to develop a waste management plan using the 3R approach. The method used in this study is the observation method, which is observing the current conditions and measuring the generation and composition of waste. The technique of determining the sample and measurement time and the procedure refers to SNI-19-3964-1995. The results showed that the amount of solid waste generation in Dasan Agung Market was 2.7 m3 / day and the weight of solid waste was 467 kg / day. Waste composition was obtained by organic waste 52.60% and inorganic waste 47.40%. TPS 3R is planned with an area of 110 m2, namely 74 m2 for composting area and 36 m2 for sorting and handling inorganic waste, and residual waste. The composting system implemented is using the drum method with a capacity of 100 liters, a total of 307 pieces. Waste Management Planning using the 3R Approach is capable of handling 80% of the waste, and 20% of the residue is disposed of in the landfill.

Abstract

Fruit leather is a flesh of fruit that has been crushed and dried at 50-60oC. The study aimed to determine the effect of ratio of gourd and pineapple and the addition of sugar in the production of fruit leather. The variables were analyzed for chemistry analysis and organoleptic response. Chemical analyzes performed were water content analysis and fiber content. Organoleptic responses include color, aroma, texture, and flavor. The data was analyzed by Randomized Completely Design with two factorial. The ratio of kundur and pineapple (K) those are 80:20%, 70:30%, 60:40% while (G) those are 20%, 30% and 40%. The result of this study showed that the ratio of the concentration of kundur and pineapple 80:20% while the concentration of sugar 30% (K1G2) produced fruit leather of the highest quality with a moisture content of 8.15%, fiber content of 1.882, and organoleptic response of texture 3.80 (like) , color 3,71 (like), aroma 3,58 (like), flavor 3,91 (like).

Abstract

The hospital is a health service building, a place of transmission of disease and allows environmental pollution and health problems. One of the prevention of disease transmission and environmental pollution, it is necessary to do repairs and improvements by using a plumbing system to have good sanitation and environmental friendly. In this case, needed to know how much water can save by method comparing between plumbing tools conventional and non-conventional standar. UNSRAT’s hospital has a population of 2,962 people who needed clean water distribution of 372,48 m3/ day. Compared by using conventional plumbing tools is 66,72 m3/hari, meanwhile non-conventional plumbing tools is 39,60 m3/hari, it shown that using non-conventional plumbing  tools standard is more saving than conventional standard, where percentage non-conventional water saving is 40,64%. Also expected that the resulting domestic wastewater will be reduced by 31,68 m3/ day. This is more important than water savings in the amount of Rp. 3.564.000 and domestic wastewater treatment costs Rp. 9.500.000.
