Abstract

One psychological impact experienced by women victims of violence in courtship depression. This study aims to reduce the symptoms of depression by using Empathic Love Therapy. This research uses a quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design model. Three women aged 21-23 years, experiencing severe depression based on Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) participated in eight therapy sessions. The results of quantitative analysis with the Friedman Test showed that there were differences in depression scores before treatment, after treatment and after the follow-up process. This result is supported by the average value of depression which decreases from before treatment, after treatment and after the follow-up process. Besides, Empathic Love Therapy has also been shown to affect decreasing manifestations of depression both in emotional, cognitive, motivational and physical/vegetative aspects. Meanwhile, the description analysis shows that the Empathic Love Therapy session is effective and useful to help participants identify themselves towards recovery. Therefore, it can be concluded that Empathic Love Therapy is effectively used to reduce the symptoms of depression in female victims of dating violence. Empathic Love Therapy can heal wounds for victims of violence in courtship by fostering empathic love in the participants so that the level of depression decreases.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency poses a constant social challenge to the public. Juvenile delinquency can be defined as a repeated social disorder among children or adolescents. In this regard, human behaviour and the environment are linked to each other. Hence, the distortion of one aspect will definitely affect the latter. This article presents a comprehensive intervention where the integrated social work approach was applied to deal with juvenile delinquency. The integrated social work approach has become a framework for social work as it focuses on both the individuals and the environment. This framework has been applied to reduce the gap between individuals and their environments, and it is very important for social work intervention. Since the nature of this framework encompasses several different professions, it has become beneficial for social workers to deliver a multi-context intervention and assessment that is based on the preventive, rehabilitative, and development perspectives, especially in the case of juvenile delinquency. The implementation of an integrated social work framework in the line of a social worker’s profession could bring advantages in terms of pinpointing the cause of the problems. Finally, social workers will be able to address juvenile delinquency problems through appropriate techniques.

Abstract

This study is based on a review of literature on social interventions given to children and the youth in institutional contexts. From the review, the study reports that the efficacy of social interventions may be ascertained by the presence of the following indicators in looked-after children: attachment to caregivers and peers, social connectedness, interpersonal competence, sense of autonomy. Based on these results, the study recommends that institutions of care need to develop a framework for evaluating their social programmes that integrate these indicators. Such an evaluation programme would offer a comprehensive framework for enhancing programme efficiency and continuous improvements of the standards of care given to looked-after youths and children. Despite being based on a review of literature, this study make important suggestions on the most effective ways for helping looked-after youths to cope with life’s difficulties now and in the future. The paper may help care homes to provide an environment conducive for social restoration and nurturing of healthy youths and children. This forms an important foundation to the holistic development of youths and their ability to achieve success in school, work, and social interactions. The study also provides useful information to the government, scholars and other child-care stakeholders on the actual effect of the social interventions on development of resilience factors like optimism, active coping, hardiness and purpose in life.
