Abstract

This study addresses issues related to mathematics learning, particularly on the topic of fractions, which can enhance students' understanding and interest in mathematics learning. The study aims to develop the design and development of an Animation Video product based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), evaluate the quality of the Animation Video through expert evaluations, individual tests, and small group tests, and determine the effectiveness of the RME-based Animation Video media. The research follows the ADDIE development model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), with data collected through interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The data analysis techniques used are quantitative descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The results of the study show that the RME-based Animation Video, developed using Canva and Camtasia, can be accessed via YouTube/Google Drive links. Expert evaluations yielded scores of 94.64% for content experts, 92.5% for instructional design experts, and 96.15% for media experts. Individual testing with three students yielded a score of 91.66%, while small group testing involving nine students resulted in a score of 92.22%, both of which are categorized as excellent. The t-test results show a value of 27.277, which is higher than the t-table value of 2.056 at a 5% significance level with 26 degrees of freedom, thus rejecting H0 and accepting H1, indicating that the average post-test score of students is higher than the average pre-test score. This study demonstrates that the RME-based Animation Video can improve students' understanding of the topic of fractions by making abstract concepts easier to grasp. This approach can enhance problem-solving skills and motivate students, making it a valuable tool for teachers and curriculum developers. Future research may explore its impact on other mathematics topics and at different grade levels.

Abstract

Mathematics is often considered an abstract subject and difficult for elementary school students to understand, especially flat material. The lack of interesting and contextual learning media makes students less motivated to learn. In fact, mathematics learning can be connected to local culture through an ethnomathematics approach, which can make abstract concepts more meaningful. This research aims to describe the design of digital comic media based on Jejaitan Bali ethnomathematics, determine the feasibility of digital comic media based on Jejaitan Bali ethnomathematics, and determine the effectiveness of digital comic media based on Jejaitan Bali ethnomathematics on flat material. This development research uses the ADDIE development model. The subjects of this research were fourth grade elementary school students with a total of 31 students. The data collection methods used are interviews, observations, questionnaires and tests. The data analysis used is quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis, as well as inferential statistical analysis. The main results of this research show that digital comic media based on Balinese jejaitan ethnomathematics is effective in increasing understanding of the concept of flat shapes in fourth grade students. The media developed successfully links mathematical concepts with local culture, so that students understand the material more easily through examples that are familiar in their daily lives.  The implications of this research indicate that the integration of local culture into learning media, such as digital comics based on Balinese jejaitan ethnomathematics, can be an effective strategy for increasing understanding of basic mathematics concepts in elementary schools. By utilizing cultural elements that are close to students' lives, learning becomes more contextual, meaningful and interesting, thereby increasing students' motivation and active involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

Mathematics is often considered difficult because the material is abstract, so the learning process requires media to help students understand concepts more concretely. This study aims to produce an ethnomathematics-based geometry framework with valid, practical, and effective criteria. The type of research used is development research with the ADDIE model. The test subjects involved material and media experts and 32 fifth-grade elementary school students. Data was collected through questionnaires and tests using instruments like questionnaire sheets and test questions. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis methods. The results showed that the developed framework obtained a decent assessment from material experts, media experts, and small groups of students. In addition, the results of the effectiveness test through hypothesis analysis showed a significant difference between students' metacognitive abilities and mathematical understanding before and after using the media. This indicates that the framework developed is valid, feasible to use, and effective in improving the quality of mathematics learning, especially in geometry materials. This research implies that teachers can utilize the ethnomathematics-based geometry framework as a contextual learning tool, and by the characteristics of students in understanding geometry concepts in grade V elementary school.

Abstract

Understanding the optimal planting date is essential to maximize agricultural productivity and ensure nutritional quality. This study aimed to analyze the effect of different planting dates on the growth, yield, proximate composition, and mineral composition of selected peanuts (Samnut 24). This study was an experimental field study. The subjects of this study were peanut plants of SAMNUT 24. Yield and yield components, such as number of pods, seeds, seed weight, pod weight, and total yield, were recorded at harvest. Proximate analysis was conducted to determine the content of water, protein, fat, fiber, ash, and carbohydrates, while mineral analysis focused on essential nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, and iron. The findings showed that planting date significantly affected the growth, yield, proximate composition, and mineral content of peanuts (Samnut 24), with advantages for early planting. Early planting during the growing season increases plant height, number of leaves, and leaf area index of peanuts (Samnut 24). In addition, early planting was the optimal planting date for the number of pods, seeds per plant, increase in pod weight, seed weight, and increase in pod and seed yield. Early planting ensures that groundnuts get the required thermal time to optimize yield components and harvest, thus ensuring better productivity and yield efficiency. The optimal planting date is early planting because much higher moisture, fiber, protein, and ash values are obtained from early planted groundnuts.

Abstract

This study presents the design and validation of an AI-based camera-trap system for wildlife monitoring at the border of Rinjani National Park, Indonesia. The system uses the YOLOv4 framework integrated with OpenCV to detect long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) in real-time. A total of 269 annotated images were used, including 202 for training, 17 for validation, and 50 for testing. The model was trained using Google Colaboratory and achieved a detection accuracy of 92.83%. Image pre-processing and labeling were conducted via Roboflow, and the model was optimized for potential deployment on a Raspberry Pi platform. Although physical deployment was not conducted, the system design supports low-power embedded implementation for field use. The results indicate that the proposed method can reliably detect camouflaged and partially occluded monkeys, suggesting its potential for mitigating human–wildlife conflict through smart conservation technology.
