Abstract

The low character of students, one of which is the level of creativity possessed by students, has decreased after experiencing online learning due to Covid-19. The purpose of this study was to analyse the teacher's strategy in fostering student creativity through project learning to strengthen Pancasila students and to describe the constraints experienced by the teacher and the solutions made by the teacher in carrying out project learning. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological model. The subjects in this study were teachers and 4th-grade elementary school students. Researchers collect data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is an interactive model from Miles and Haberman. The results showed that teachers used two strategies in cultivating students' character and creativity: differentiation learning and project learning to strengthen the Pancasila student profile. Constraints found in addition to the low creativity of students are the limited references to the independent curriculum books for grades 1 and 4, the low availability of facilities, and project learning support tools. Another obstacle is time management because project-based learning usually takes a long time. For this reason, the teacher needs the right strategy to foster student creativity. It is hoped that the implications of this research can be studied in more depth to complement and be used as a basis for other research.

Abstract

Currently, many schools still do not have the courage to develop the curriculum to the fullest. The curriculum model used by schools is also less varied because it is still based on the model set by the government. This study aims to analyse the model and curriculum development at nature school. Qualitative research is used in this research. The research subjects are teachers and school principals at Nature-Based Elementary School. The research data was taken by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analysed by means of data reduction, data presentation, and verification/conclusion. The research findings show that Nature-Based Elementary School adopts the spider web model and the 2013 curriculum model with curriculum development consisting of three things, namely first, planning as evidenced by the formulation of natural school goals, school programs, daily, weekly, monthly activities, and annually, determining learning techniques, as well as management of facilities and infrastructure. Second, the implementation of the curriculum as evidenced by the implementation of religious-based and nature-oriented learning. Third, curriculum evaluation as evidenced by the provision of official report cards and narrative report cards as a characteristic of natural schools.

Abstract

The importance of developing higher-order thinking skills in the 21st century impacts the standardization of learning tools in schools. This research analyses the lesson plans prepared using the HOTS-based learning plan indicators. The research design used is document analysis. The data source in the study was the lesson plans that elementary school teachers had prepared, as many as 4 lesson plans—data collection techniques using documentation and interviews. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, display, and verification. The study results showed that the HOTS aspect was included in the lesson plan the teacher had prepared. Namely, the competency selection aspect was 83.3%. Formulation of indicators by 25%. The identity of the selection of learning materials is 100%. The formulation of learning objectives is 50%, the use of learning methods is 75%, and the use of learning resources is 75%. The use of learning media is 100%. Learning activities by 100%, selection of assessment by 100%. Overall the coverage of lesson plans analyzed on HOTS was 80.2%. The HOTS-based learning plans that elementary school teachers have prepared still need to improve their preparation, especially in using HOTS verbs. A review of the HOTS-based learning implementation plan is needed to achieve learning activities that refer to developing students' higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

English teachers and students face difficulties grasping the meaning, leading to misunderstanding. This study aims to analyses the use of conversational implicature focusing on instructional communication in an English classroom. The research used qualitative methodology and descriptive analysis as the design. The instrument consisted of observations and documentation. The research data used video recording during an English classroom process. The participants of this study involved an English teacher and students in grade 5 at an Islamic private elementary school. This study used an interactive analysis model consisting of collection, reduction, conclusion and verification. This study indicated that English teachers and students used the four maxims of conversational implicature focusing on instructional communication, with 18 utterances. The maxim of quantity consisted of 3 utterances. The maxim of relation consisted of 5 utterances. The maxim of manner consisted of 4 utterances. The most dominant conversational implicature was the maxim of quality consisting of 6 utterances. It showed that the interaction between English teachers and students needs to provide factual and accurate information. Therefore, it becomes necessary for English teachers and students to understand the language's meaning in instructional communication by involving the conversational implicature or four maxims, particularly in elementary school.
