Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the contributions of researchers in the field of management internationally through this journal in last ten years. Authors conduct a bibliometric analysis of the Supply Chain Management: an International Journal which is indexed in the Social Science Citation Index. This study was developed from a bibliometric survey to expand knowledge regarding publications in the supply chain management: an international journal from 2005-14. The present study Bibliometric analysis of Supply chain management: an international journal which covers the 458 articles of 10 volumes and 59 issues in 10 years from 2005-2014. Authors performed the analysis of scientific publications, reviewed and indexed in databases Emerald. Nonparametric test X2 was done to test the hypotheses. The Authors attempted to reveal the year wise publication of articles, authorship pattern of articles, citation pattern, No of citations, country wise distribution of articles, average number of citation per articles and length of papers etc. Results showed that, in the year 2006, highest 59(12.94%) articles were published out of 458 articles in last ten years. Dual author contribution has predominant with 35.80%. In geographical distribution of articles, UK has contributed highest 103 articles with 22.49% and highest 49.56% articles are published with page range of 11-20. The X2 test depict that there is significant relationship between highly cited articles and the most productive author while there is no significant relationship between highly cited articles and the most productive country as well as most productive institute/university. The limitation of this study is that articles were taken from 2005-14 only and the citations are taken from the Google scholar only. First, this research could be used for further analysis in the future such as keyword content analysis of getting the deeper knowledge. Second, only one SSCI Journal was considered in this research. Therefore, future research could use the different journal databases to retrieve more in-depth issues. This study will helpful for researchers to know which article and which author has major contribution and what kind of study he has done in the past 10 years as well as what will be the future scope. The study is first of its kind with reference to this journal and thus it will contribute to the researchers to enhance the knowledge /information about the kind of study being published in this journal in last ten years.

Abstract

Abstract- Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems have been successfully applied and shown its worth in many fields of manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, healthcare and supply chain just to name a few. The use of RFID in healthcare and hospital services has increased significantly over the years due to its credibility and accuracy. RFID technology is acting crucial in item level tracing and tracking systems in hospital scenarios. The aim of the paper is to express and display the role of RFID technology in maintaining the inventory level of medicines and surgical items in hospital warehouses and increase its impact in healthcare. One of the crucial points that should be noted in healthcare is that the medicines and surgical items should be made available at any point of time. The implementation of RFID technology in this area is to ensure patient safety and satisfaction by maintaining a perfect inventory of medicines and surgical items. Keywords- Enterprise management, SCOR model, RFID, healthcare, hospital.

Abstract

This research proposes a methodology to estimate the customer order lead-time in supply chain based on the process capability index. The cases when the process output is normally distributed and when it is not are considered. The relationships between the system capability indices in both service and manufacturing applications, delivery system reliabilities and the percentages of orders delivered after their promised due-dates are presented. The proposed method can be used to examine the current process capability to deliver the orders before the promised lead-time. If the system was found to be incapable, the method can be used to help revise the current lead-time to a proper value according to the service reliability level selected by the management. Numerical examples and a case study describing the lead time estimation methodology and testing the system capability of delivering the orders before their promised due date are illustrated.

Abstract

Companies are paying a growing attention to volatility in the supply chain and many manufacturers are reassessing their global sourcing strategies. Will multinationals retreat to a hemispheric, near-shoring model or opt for a hybrid that maintains an international component? This paper investigates the current challenges for Chief Procurement Officers facing risks and evaluating total costs along the global supply chain. The authors have reviewed both practitioners and academic literature, exploring the main trends in the global approach to supply markets and the trade-offs that could affect strategic sourcing decision in the near future.

Abstract

This paper explores inter-firm collaboration in a tourism supply chain via transaction cost economics using a single case-study method. We focus on supply chain collaboration between a hotel, and its food and beverage suppliers. The transaction costs found consist of the search cost and cost of quality checking. Search cost exists due to bounded rationality of the firm. This is influenced by asymmetric information. The cost of quality checking incurs because the firm perceives that its suppliers may behave opportunistically. It is revealed that trust could reduce transaction cost of the tourist operators.

Abstract

Abstract- This article presents our method of applying radio frequency identification (RFID) technology within healthcare organizations, with the key concept of treating it as a supply chain enterprise. We present past research relating to the pertinent elements, including RFID, supply chain reference model (SCOR model), healthcare supply chains. We then present our methodology for evaluating the supply chain, understanding where to possibly implement RFID, evaluate how it would impact the enterprise metrics and processes, evaluate the return on investment (ROI) of these, evaluate the cross-dependency, choose areas to proceed forward with implementation, and finally begin implementation. Additionally, we present the results of a recent company where this was implemented. Keywords- Enterprise management, SCOR model, RFID, healthcare, hospital.

Abstract

Identifying the performance measures for textile supply chain network is rapidly growing multi criteria decision making problem and so the task of performance measurement due to large number of parameters involvement. Selection analysis of appropriate performance measures is critical to achieve success for textile industry in todays global competitive market. With this paper, we tried to overcome it by recognizing three areas; i) cyclic processes of supply chain network (procurement-production-distribution), ii) measures under three decision making levels iii) considering balanced scorecard (BSC) perspectives Developed a framework for supply chain performance measurement and analyzed using analytical hierarchy process.

Abstract

Today, most of the companies are focusing on cost reduction to ensure that there is an effective supply chain in the organization where performance measurement and metrics are the key parameters which have received the attention of researchers and practitioners recently to use for measurement. To survive in a highly challenging and competitive environment, an efficient and effective way of measuring supply chain performance is a must to improve profitability and efficiency of an organization. There are several performance measures for evaluating the process of Supply Chain Management since it is important to make the system robust. In this paper an attempt has been made to evaluate outbound SCM mainly by focusing the whole process by evaluating the performance measurement parameters and metrics which are involved in the process and keeping the total cost of SCM in control. The performance can be measured in terms of Inventory turnover ratio, logistics cost and linking inventory control methods with respect to total cost of supply chain.

Abstract

Project planning is considered to be a critical success factor for project success. However, recent literature questions whether planning has similar importance in various project contexts. This research investigates the effectiveness of project planning on project success in various project risk contexts of software development projects. A survey based research design was used to collect data to test the proposed model. The results reveal that various inherent project risks can moderate the effects of project planning on project success and in different ways for various success measures. More specifically, the results indicate that project planning makes a greater contribution to project success when there is a low level of inherent project risk and its positive impact on project success diminishes when there is a high level of inherent project risk. The results of this study contribute to a more acute understanding of the contingency approach to software project risk management. Practical implications of these results suggest that project managers should put more emphasis on less detailed formal planning in high risk project situations in order to meet project success.
