Abstract

The civil aviation, is an industry evolving at exponential speed despite the significant problems that faces in the last decade (increase of oil price, terrorist attacks etc.) An important feature of aviation firms and generally all companies, is that their size reflects their efficiency and in general their economic growth. In this era of financial crisis, liquidity is a significant factor for the stabilization and growth of economic organizations. Therefore, the examination of cash flows as indicator of liquidity limitations is necessary for the measurement of firms profitability. In this study, we tried to see whether the efficiency of size of European and American airlines listed firms, depends on their growth and cash flows from investment activity

Abstract

The literature differs by choosing the quality management practices depending on the organization's activities or the type of sector. Meanwhile, there is a differentiation in selecting the best practices, even in the same sector. Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award has resonated with researchers as the best practices that can conform to the higher education activities. Moreover, the literature discusses the impact of quality management practices on performance through being divided into Core and infrastructure practices. This study proposes to discuss any of these practices concerned with the Core-QMPs or Infrastructure-QMPs. It recommends being tested in the future.

Abstract

To learn mathematics is somehow difficult to most students in different educational levels. There exists a cultural presumption that it happens and therefore the motivation to learn mathematics is low. In national and international tests Chile performs poorly. Researchers suggest different variables to explain this situation. Additionally, there exist work propositions in development. One of these is to use technological support to improve the students' results regarding mathematics especially in the school system. This paper describes a research from 2012 until today focused in the available lexicon of mathematics on secondary school and university students in the 8 Region of the country as an important variable that affects significantly mathematics learning. Data about the available lexicon was obtained after the application of the Test of Lexical Availability. Furthermore, to analyze the obtained data, Lexmath is created. Lexmath is an adaptive hypermedia that employs Excel, graphs theory and Gephi software to establish the available lexicon in which mathematics learning is developed and the need to improve it using this software.

Abstract

Recently countries are gaining opportunities and confronting confront obstacles arising from global supply chain integration. The main objective of this paper is to explore business opportunities and threats in terms of logistics and supply chain management of exporting Thai fruits to India. Supply Chain Analysis (SCA) framework is used to analyse the business opportunities and logistics management in India market in schemes run by the modern trade to assist smallholders with production and marketing. The study, consequently, intends to explore empirically the pattern of Thai fruits supply chain management and restructuring in India market. The patterns of logistics and supply chain management found in this study are substantiated and linked with the existing modern trade scheme to see whether there are inconsistencies in the policies and actual implementations. This presents threats as well as opportunities for smallholders in Thailand. The standard set by buyers requires farmers to adjust their production and marketing systems. Assistances for farmers are derived from modern trade and government and collaborations amongst these two parties. MICE is proposed to be a mechanism to promote opportunities of exporting Thai fruits to India.

Abstract

Given a lack of studies that have explored the integration of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management within supply chain operations reference (SCOR), the purpose of this study is to identify the discrepancies in how CSR management (CSRM) be incorporated into SCOR, including issues with the hierarchical representation of CSRM processes, metrics, best practices and skills. Therefore, this research aims to establish a performance evaluation framework with application of SCOR model using Fuzzy extended AHP method for evaluating CSR performances in supply chains. These may be potentially helpful for embedding CSRM within other supply chain management processes, visualizing CSR performance metrics in a supply chains performance hierarchy and integrating supply chain management with organisational enterprise CSRM.

Abstract

This paper aims to evaluate the supply chain collaboration in the cultural tourism on the R3A route, which is starting from Kunming (China) to Luang Namtha (Lao PDR) and to Chiang Rai (Thailand). The Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used to evaluate the key factors that have affected to the collaboration between partners along the route. Data were collected from 200 cultural tourism enterprises via self-administrative questionnaires. The result was found that lack of data sharing is the barriers of collaboration on cultural tourism in R3A route between supply chain partners. Information, commitment, and communication technology are the key factors to promote collaboration sustainability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to verify the significance of supply chain strategies (lean and agile supply chain, strategic supplier partnership and postponement) on achieving supply chain responsiveness. By applying the strategic-choice theory and the resource-based view of firms to the supply chain, this study has attempted to develop a research model. The model demonstrates the premise that by implementing proper supply chain practices to support and execute supply chain strategy, this will enhance the responsiveness of the supply chain. For that purpose, this study utilizes survey data from 89 senior executives and managers in the purchasing and supply chain functions from manufacturing firms in Malaysia. By applying multiple regression analysis, this study finds that all supply chain strategies, namely, the lean, agile, strategic supplier partnership and postponement have a positive relationship towards the supply chain responsiveness. For supply chain practitioners, the results indicate that firms benefit greatly if they consider the strategies of their supply chain and that such a matching would yield to improve the supply chain responsiveness. The paper theoretically develops logic for and empirically shows that all of the supply chain strategies are appropriate practices to enhance supply chain responsiveness. Furthermore, these relationships indicate a contribution to theory that explains how supply chain strategy can result in supply chain responsiveness, through the concurrent deployment of appropriately matched supply chain practices. This research was conducted using a small sample of 89 respondents.
