Abstract

Abstract— In this study, we examine the current state of supply chain integration, estimate the economic impact of inadequate integration, and identify opportunities for governmental organizations to provide critical standards infrastructures that will improve the efficiency of supply chain communications. The development of methods to reduce the impact of multicollinearity in the construction of a linear regression model is an urgent task of applied econometrics. The article proposes a method for reducing multicollinearity in the construction of a linear regression model for evaluating the supply chain impact on economy. In the case of non-stationary multidimensional time series, it is assumed that all variables have a polynomial trend. Each predictor xj(t) is decomposed into a trend and a remainder uj(t), and then a regression y(t) is constructed for time t and the remainder uj(t). In this case, the regression coefficients for uj(t) are equal to the regression coefficients for xj(t), but they are estimated using less correlated regressors SCM. The article gives a quantitative assessment of the increase in the accuracy of the forecast of the considered model in comparison with other models. In the case of spatial variables, the proposed approach is that some Xj regressors SCM correlated with others are replaced by the sum of two summands. One of them is the predicted value of Xj obtained from the regression equation Xj on the predictor correlated with it; the other is the remainder of this regression Uj. As a result, we get a new set of regressors SCM that are much less correlated with each other. The new regressors - the remnants of Uj - are susceptible to meaningful interpretation. However, the new regression equation changes the regression coefficients only for variables that act as dependent variables in auxiliary regressions. The application of the proposed method is illustrated by examples through the supply chain process. Calculations are performed in the R software environment.

Abstract

Organizational Performance (OP) and the Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) are two of the most significant studies to provide benefits to the organizations. There are different investigations on the ERP and OP in private and public organizations in developed and developing countries. This paper basically review the relationship between ERP and OP. Notably, as only a few studies have addressed the implication of ERP on OP in Arab countries such as in the Libyan context, it needs more investigation. The main objective to review and explore to which extent the Libyan public organizations are looking to improve their performance through the ERP system

Abstract

This study explored the public procurement on the Direct Negotiation issues. There are various types of public procurements implemented in the Malaysian government procurement system, however, Direct Negotiation has become the contractors’ opportunities in abusing the system where many projects have failed to be completed as scheduled and others were completed with below standard which has not achieved the expectations. As stated in Ministry of Finance Circular 2013, the Direct Negotiation can only be awarded when there is urgent requirement, only for expert and credible contractor. This study has collected data from the Auditors General annual report from year 2015 until 2017, focuses mainly on auditor’s observation on Direct Negotiation issues. Despite many comments from the public on the corrupt practice in the public procurement, this study has identified that there might be non-compliance on the decision in appointing the contractor for the Direct Negotiation which many issues arise in Auditor General report were on inefficiency of the contractor which has defeated the purposes on awarding the project through Direct Negotiation to credible contractor. Therefore, this research has agreed and supported that in order to be transparent and open, the Malaysian Government should eliminate Direct Negotiation and apply open tender on all public procurement.

Abstract

This research was done with a purpose to find out the solution of supply shortage problem which often occurs in supplying companies in Indonesia, which resulted by non-optimized order quantity. Quantity Discount Pricing Integrated Newsvendor Model (this term will further be called as Extended Newsvendor) was examined then having its performance compared with subjective method which has already been used by the companies. The comparison was done to discover which method is able to reduce the potential shortage of supplies, total cost of each unit, age of inventory, and order frequency. Extended Newsvendor method was chosen to be examined in the first place due to its assumption which was deemed suitable with the actual condition that is encountered by the companies, where the demand happens stochastically, and quantity discount pricing policy is applied. The calculation that utilizes 5 years of the company historical data, this research find that the Extended Newsvendor method is generally able to improve the performance of the order quantity medium-sized companies but is unable to improve the performance of the order quantity of small-sized companies

Abstract

The banking institutions worldwide, including banks in emerging Asia have been operating in more challenging and more uncertain environment after the 2007 financial calamity. In ensuring an optimal functioning of the banking sector, Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) highlighted the importance of effective corporate governance in the banking sector. Observing from the suggestion for banks to reform their corporate governance, this study is conducted to examine the relationship between risk governance mechanism and bank performance. Using a sample of 109 banks with 545 observations in eight Asia emerging economies for a period of 2011-2015, it is evidenced that risk governance mechanism is significantly and positively related with bank performance represented by its liquidity. Therefore, risk governance is vital for banks betterment in Asia emerging market to weather future negative effects as well as to restore and maintain their resilience.

Abstract

Although the current paddy production in Peninsular Malaysia shows a satisfying self-sufficiency level, the countrys annual rough paddy production, however, will still have to increase over the next 10 years to sustain up with the local population growth and the growing demand level for this staple food. Thus, immediate action needs to be done to evaluate the efficiency of paddy production, so that the information obtained can help the government to come out with strategies to maximize the outputs with the current existing inputs. The objective of this study is to measure the efficiency of paddy production of 11 states in Peninsular Malaysia using a hybrid of Principal Component Analysis and Data Envelopment Analysis. The variables used as inputs include planted paddy area, number of rice farmers, amount of seeds usage and total budget allocation whereas the variables used as outputs cover paddy output, rice output and rice income. As the input and output variables are highly correlated, this study proposes the combination of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approaches to reduce the data dimensionality problem instead of eliminating the variables with multicollinearity problem from the analysis. PCA is applied separately on both sides of all inputs and all outputs, resulting in one principal component (PC) to represent the input and one PC to represent the output side. Both PCs were found to contribute greater than 70% of the data variation. The results from output-oriented DEA model under variable return to scale (VRS) indicate that Kedah is the most efficient state in producing the paddy output, leaving the rest of states with average efficiency scores ranging from 0.745 to 0.998. Further results show that Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang were placed at the lowest three states in terms of efficiency levels. There is a need for the government to pay extra attention on these states in bringing off the significant factors that may disrupt the functioning of efficient paddy production.

Abstract

This paper presents the integrated, multi-objective, multi-echelon, multi-product environment optimization model for steel retail distribution network. Model formulated covers retail supply chain processes applicable for steel products starting from production of different grades of material, its transfer to company warehouse, then to distributor warehouse cum service center and finally to retailer. The input parameters considered are the cost of opening new warehouse, order costs, administrative cost, inventory holding cost, transportation costs and desired service level for serving customers. In order to solve the problem a Territory Defined Evolutionary Algorithm (TDEA) is utilized. The paper discusses a realistic application of the validity of the model. The model developed supports organization and distributor in deciding the optimal location for minimizing inventory and transportation cost after taking into account desired service level requirements of retail customers. The framework presented further assist distributor in allocating the retailers to respective DC. Moreover, the model formulated benefits distributor and retailers in maintaining optimal regular and safety stock after taking into account variation in lead time and demand.
