Abstract

Business performance at production level would influence the overall performance of the aquaculture industry. Many factors can be associated with business performance. It has been argued that a good marketing and logistics practice would lead to a positive business performance. However, it may not be always true for all types of industry, setting and condition. This study examined the effects of marketing and logistics on small business performance in the Kelantanese aquaculture industry. Using a self-administered questionnaire, data were collected from 216 respondents in small aquaculture in Kelantan. The Partial Least Squares Analysis (PLS) was employed to examine the relationship between the marketing, logistics and business performance variables. It was found that only one of the four marketing variables, i.e. place, explained the variation in business performance. But, it had a wrong sign that was negative, instead of a positive sign. On the contrary, two out of three logistics variables (transportation and order processing) influenced the changes in business performance. In the condition of excess demand, marketing did not work, whereas logistics was more important. Thus, a good practice in logistics is more important than that of marketing for small aquaculture businesses.

Abstract

Main results from past studies had indicated that level of fear indication is affected by a wide range of elements such as bus service, infrastructure and social environment where travelling took place. However, what is less explored is that how these this travel satisfaction is not only an outcome of travel-related preferences and choices, but that travel satisfaction can act asalso be a predictor of travel-related fear.components. ThusIn thisis conceptual paper we tend to fill the gaps in the existing field of study by examining each of the significant factors that relates to feeling of fear among urban commuters especially for female commuters who live and travel by public bus in urban areas. albeit rather fragmented literature concerning travel satisfaction The paper provide . We provide an overview of the elements explaining on how different level travelof travel satisfaction, can and possibly affect the level of fear le outcomes of travel satisfaction, with a focus on on two extreme condition, (i) subjective well-beingvery satisfied, (ii) very dissatisfied.travel mode choice, (iii) travel-related attitudes, and (iv) the residential location. Furthermore, we suggest a continuous cyclical process including the four above This model highlight a few elements mentioned elements in which travel satisfaction plays an essential role which can results ; a process whichcan result in the formation of of higher or lower level of feartravel habits. This paper will discuss purely on the research methods used in this study where major independent and dependent variable of the study will be discusses especially on the fear detector model being generate through multiple regression analysis. The main focus is on the simulation and evaluation of the model model produced to measure the different level of fear indication based on the different level of satisfaction.

Abstract

With the increase in terrorism and piracy threats around the world, the issue is not if an attack will occur, but where and when it will come. Ports and waterways are crucial for international trade, and damage to them may cost millions to the global economy. In the past, Malaysia has been threatened and attacked by terrorists, and pirates have hijacked ships near the coasts of the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea. Such acts can negatively affect the country’s maritime supply chain. This research analyses the risk to Malaysia’s maritime supply chain security in ports and waterways by applying a risk assessment matrix. The findings show that Malaysian ports are vulnerable to attacks and crime due to various factors. Also, Malaysia’s waterways may always be at risk given the country’s geographical location and status as one of the most important trade routes in the world. Mitigating the risk to ports and waterways can be accomplished by investing in more advanced security equipment, eliminating corruption, and increasing the military presence in the Strait of Malacca. This research may be able to help increase ports’ policy-makers’ preparation and decision-making, helping them to address risks to ports and waterways in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

Globalization, rapid technological changes and growing competition not only facilitate but also make the supply chain more complex and fragile. Any disruption can disturb many organizations and even whole system. There are many theories and frameworks that present solution but no study is available that theoretically development framework for supply chain risk management. Due to the lack of structured supply chain risk management system the focus of this study is to develop a novel framework for identifying the potential risks and assessment of their effects on supply chain performance. Additionally, evaluate the role of supply chain collaboration in risk mitigation and performance improvement in Malaysian manufacturing sector. This study has highlighted numerous problems of Malaysian organizations and developed a theoretical framework. This framework will guide Malaysian organizations and will present better understanding for managers in resolving these issues. This is a conceptual paper, systematic as well as content analysis have been done for literature review. For future study, there is need to empirically verification of this theoretical framework. The proposed methodology to achieve this framework is; questionnaire will be developed from a pool and will be validate by exploratory view for risk identification. This questionnaire will be distributed among Malaysian manufacturing and data will be analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for risk assessment and mitigation. The theoretical contribution of this study is support of theory of swift, even flow as underpinning theory and information processing theory as supportive theory.

Abstract

Abstract - Supply chain management (SCM) performance evaluation has gained noteworthy considerations from researchers and practitioners in the manufacturing paradigms for improving organizational effectiveness that can be applied to pronounce and review the historical performance, as well as to set performance targets for the future. Precise diagnosis and analysis of SCM evaluation are imperative to attain and enhance organizational productivity and profitability through focusing strategic, tactical and operational planning as well as control. Enterprises scrutinize the best fit to evaluate the existing approaches of performance evaluation framework including financial and operational. The researchers investigate a multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) approach to demonstrate how analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is applied to select the best performance evaluation framework and illustrates a decision model to structure the problem related to select the supply chain performance evaluation system in a hierarchical form with substitutes to the decision maker. The study also illustrates that there are nine methods where supply chain performance could be evaluated. However, it is yet to establish and validate a comprehensive approach which can establish both qualitative and quantitative factors along with different decision-making levels and rank the decision preferences which constitutes a gap between the theory and their potential application. The study leads to the integrated SCPM model which could be a valuable contribution in order to measure SCPM in the manufacturing industry.
