Abstract

Supply chain management plays a major role in industrial companies, with strengthen collaboration among their suppliers and customers. The main aims of his paper, is to examine the role of Supply Chain Management Capabilities- SCMC toward industrial companies performance in Yemen. Top and middle managers were asked to answer the questionnaire, which drawn from a geographical clustered sample. Thirty nine manufacturing were surveyed in five governorates. To examine the role of SCMC towards industrial companies hypothesis testing employed correlation. The findings showed a significant positive relationship at statistical significant level ( 0.05) between outside-in capabilities and inside-out capabilities, inside-out capabilities and companies market performance only, and spanning capabilities with both outside-in capabilities and companys performance.

Abstract

Conflict between the Central and Provincial Governments in Indonesia is one of the main hindrances for Malaysian MNEs implementing palm oil investment in Indonesia. This issue if not resolved can lead to the failure of the MNEs investment and affect FDI flows. The objective of this paper is to discuss the issues arising from conflict between the Central and Provincial Governments in Indonesia faced by the Malaysian MNEs in Indonesia. This paper provides the approaches that have been taken to address the problems. Qualitative and legal research methodologies were used in this paper. From this writing, certain data can be generated to show the severity and gravity of the problems arising from land conflict in palm oil plantation ventures in Indonesia and the approaches that have been taken to deal with the problems. The findings of the research will benefit the Malaysian MNEs in its internationalization of palm oil plantation ventures.

Abstract

The growing of religious consciousness among Muslim consumers is become an introductory factor for the new concept of businesses that concern with religious values expand in the market. Retailer must realize that Muslim consumer must be treat as a niche market for the reason that, they have their own evaluation in patronizing a stores. The effect of Islamic lifestyles in the marketing environment had urge retailer to complement their marketing strategy to be suit with Islamic attributes. The religiosity adherence among Muslim consumers may affect the patronage behavior of the store. With the changing behavior among Muslim consumer, thus, this study intends to examine the influence of Islamic store image on Muslim consumer attitudes. The study was done in several states of Malaysia by cluster sampling. A number of customers were asked to complete the questionnaires by mall intercept method. Finding of the study found that, Islamic store image have a significant impact to the patronage behavior of the Muslim consumer in patronizing a store in Malaysia. As a conclusion for this study, Islamic image of the store significantly become major determinant towards Muslim customer in patronizing a store. Customer feel more confident by considering store image as it give a first impression towards the expectation of the halal status.

Abstract

The aim of this conceptual paper is to examine the inventory performance focusing on days of supply. Problem focal towards the context of inventory performance further narrow down to the capability of the relevant corporate governance mechanisms in managing inventory. Basically as far as concern to corporate governance study mainly focus on financial aspects and this research explore from the angle of non-financial aspects of the inventory control thats contribute toward 60 to 70% of total manufacturing cost. Two main corporate governance variables were discussed in terms of their relative impact on inventory performance thats include CEO duality, and managerial ownership. Abstract

This empirical study investigated HRM-performance links in Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs). SMEs performance is conceptualized within a multidimensional framework consisting of four dimensions, which are satisfaction with financial performance, satisfaction with non-financial performance, performance relative to competitors and business growth. The five HRM practices adapted consisted of communication and information sharing, compensation, job design, performance appraisal, selection and training and development. The hypothesis of this study has been built on a resource based view. Field research was conducted through surveys with a total of 321 owners/managers of manufacturing SMEs, representing a response rate of 60.5%. Confirmatory factor analyses were used to analyse the quality of the scales and PLS-SEM were conducted to test the hypotheses of the study. Statistical results show certain HRM practices, namely, communication and information sharing and selection are positively related to organizational performance. Finally, this study is useful for future researchers, entrepreneurs and policy makers in realizing the importance of HRM practices towards enhancing SMEs performance.

Abstract

Franchising is one of the best way for expanding a business in the competitive industry and global market. Franchising industries are growing rapidly in most countries and have contributed to the growth of gross domestic product. This study adopts a quantitative approach, applying a cross-sectional study. This study attempts to examine empirically relational mechanisms which may influence the relationship quality and business performance in franchising relationship from franchisees perspective. The findings reveal that relational mechanisms are crucial in affecting franchisee relationship quality. The results provide strong evidence that franchisee relationship quality is found to significantly affect business performance in the franchise system.

Abstract

The inclusion of cost and benefit analysis (CBA) on the airport road access wayfinding design is important. Standard CBA was used to determine the additional costs incurred and benefits from airport road access wayfinding development. This concept paper explains the willingness to trade-off between the social benefits and the cost comparison of airport road access wayfinding design. The importance of airport cost and benefit structures and their influence on the decision-making process for the provision of airport road access wayfinding was considered. The key issues were then analysed and presented; costs (i.e. investment, operating, maintenance, and fuel consumption costs); benefits (i.e. travel time, accident reduction savings, and airport road advertising revenue). The CBA is an appropriate technique for the airport road access wayfinding appraisal. It has an explicit normative basis and was performed for the purpose of guidelines of informing airport management and road sign design professionals that the alternative airport road access wayfinding with the largest positive Net Present Value (NPV) and Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) exceeding 1.0 would be given primary consideration as the preferred course of action.

Abstract

The purpose of the Paper is to examine the provision of passenger facilities in Low Cost Terminals (LCTs) after reviewing a selection of LCT models at airports in the Asia Pacific, European and United States regions, and supported by an in-depth survey of low cost passenger, low cost airline and airport management preferences related to operations at the Low Cost Terminal, Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The forecasting of passenger profiles is important so that the airport can establish an adequate terminal design which may be able to cope with an acceptable level of service to the passengers while, at the same time, the terminal is able to generate sufficient commercial revenues from the LCC customers. Taking account of the LCC profiles, the airport needs to pay attention by ensuring their preferences for facilities and level of service should be included in the terminal design. The decision by airport management for the provision of specific terminal facilities (TFs) may be dependent on budget restrictions, cost of investment, land availability and the preferences of the major customers, that is, in the case of LCTs, the low-cost carriers (LCCs). Consequently, most (but not all) LCT designs are based on the concept of a basic terminal layout with limited terminal facilities in order to reduce both construction and operating costs, a shorter construction time, acceptable service standards and minimum aircraft turnaround time. However, there are contradictions. For example, passenger expectations of level of service and terminal facilities do not always coincide with those of airline and airport management. Furthermore, a consequent low level of aeronautical revenue drives the requirement to maximise commercial revenues. The paper will conclude by suggesting guidelines for LCT development that will seek to optimise the relative aspirations of all parties concerned.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the motivational factors and barriers that influence the implementation of green practices in Malaysian hotels. The environmental issue in Malaysia has a long history, which began with river pollution because of tin mining operations. It has now become more critical as air pollution and waste disposal by the hotel industry have a negative impact on the environment. A total of 86 questionnaires were received from four-star and five-star hotels in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The dependent variable is green practices, while the independent variables are motivational factors and barriers. Data from the questionnaires were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling approach and the SmartPLS software. Motivational factors are found to have a significantly positive relationship with the implementation of green practices. However, the barriers to green practices do not have statistical significance. The study contributes to existing literature by introducing factors that encourage the Environmental Management System (EMS) and also recommends the study of more strong factors in green practices research.
