Abstract

Quail is a type of poultry that is popular because compared to broiler chickens, quail grow faster. This research aims to test the influence Substitution of gamal leaf flour (Gliricidia sepium) in feed on quail carcass composition. This research was carried out from 28 May to 28 July 2022 at Kandang Poultry, Tri Jaya Farm Sukabumi. This research used 1 (one) day old female quail originating from Pondok Wirausaha Agribisnis Cikembar, Sukabumi. The research design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan's advanced test. Research treatments R0 = 100% commercial feed (PK), R1 = 99% PK + 1% gamal, R2 = 98% PK + 2% gamal, R3 = 97% PK + 3% gamal and R4 = 96% PK + 4% gamal. Drinking water is provided adlibitum. Observed parameters in study This that is chest and thigh composition, ratio meat with bones and ratios meat with skin on the chest and thighs respectively. The research results show that substitution gamal leaf flour in quail feed is not significantly different (P > 0.05) to chest composition, compoElevsition thighs, ratio meat chest bones and skin as well ratio bones and skin thigh. Research results can conclude that substitution flour leaf gamal 1% to 4% in ration Not yet capable increase chest composition, thighs, ratio meat chest bones and skin as well ratio meat bones and skin thigh. Recommended for research this with substitution flour leaf gamal as feed commercial use 4% level to get percentage more carcasses good

Abstract

Citronella is a plant from the grass family that has active compounds, namely antibiotics and antioxidants, so it has the potential to be used as a feed additive. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of giving citronella meal (Cymbopogon nardus) in rations on the percentage of Joper chicken carcasses. This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replicates, where each replicate consisted of five Joper chickens. This data was analyzed by Anova and continued with Duncan Multiple Range-Test, if applicable. The treatments consisted of 1) R0= No provision of citronella meal in the ration, 2) R1= Provision of 2% citronella meal in the ration, 3) R2= Provision of 4% citronella meal in the ration, 4) R3= Provision of 6% citronella meal in the ration, and 5) R4= Provision of 8% citronella meal in the ration. The variables observed in this study were slaughter weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage, chest percentage, thigh percentage, wing percentage, and back percentage. The results of this study showed that giving citronella meal in rations up to 6% (as fed basis, w/w) had a significant effect (P<0.05) on slaughter weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage. Feeding 8% citronella meal showed a significant effect (P<0.05) on the back percentage of Joper chicken. The use of citronella in Joper chickens is limited to 8%, because it is high in fiber (34-36%). The addition of citronella meal up to level 6% in the ration increased weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage, and the 8% of citronella meal increased the back percentage of Joper chicken.

Abstract

Partnership pattern broiler chicken production has contributed to chicken meat production, employment, and income of farmer households in rural areas. However, the challenge faced is the change of seasons which takes place twice a year which affects the production system. This study aims to evaluate differences in broiler chicken mortality, feed conversion (FCR) and Performance Index (IP) between the rainy and dry seasons. It was carried out in Gowa and Takalat Regencies from May to October 2022. Data was collected through surveys and interviews with 40 plasma farmers. The results showed that in the rainy season mortality was higher, FCR was not efficient, and IP performance was lower than in the dry season. I was concluded that broiler chicken maintenance in the rainy season has the potential to be detrimental to breeders. The implication of this research is that breeders need to minimize risks in the rainy season. It is recommended that breeders must be able to control the microclimate, especially humidity and wind speed which are ideal for broilers, maintain ration quality, and carry out fortification or the addition of certain substances to improve ration nutrition.

Abstract

Transportation of broiler chickens is very crucial because it determines the level of welfare of the livestock, especially economic losses due to decreased performance. Transportation of broiler chickens greatly influences mortality and body weight loss. One thing that can be done to minimize mortality and weight loss is management of livestock transportation time. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of transportation time for broiler chickens on mortality and body weight loss. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis to determine the effect of differences in transportation time on the performance of broiler chickens. The results of the research showed that the transportation of broiler chickens carried out in the morning experienced a loss of 0.5 kg, while the transportation of broiler chickens carried out in the afternoon experienced a weight loss of 4,0 kg. Furthermore, in transportation in the morning there were no deaths at all, while in transportation in the afternoon the mortality was 0.29%.

Abstract

Transportation of chickens to the slaughterhouse causes severe stress. This stress affects body temperature, respiratory rate, and body weight. Providing rest time before slaughter can reduce the negative impact of stress, restore physiological conditions, and result in good carcass quality. This study was conducted from August to November 2024 at the Cicurug Slaughterhouse. The study used broiler chickens weighing >1.5 kg and <1.5 kg, with 72 chickens in each group. The treatments included resting times of 60 minutes and 120 minutes. The parameters measured were physiological responses, including body temperature, respiratory rate, and body weight loss. Data were analyzed using a two-way ANOVA. The results showed three hypotheses: resting time affected body temperature (Sig.<0.05), body weight group did not affect body temperature (Sig.>0.05), and the interaction between resting time and body weight group affected body temperature (Sig.<0.05). Resting time did not affect respiratory rate (P>0.05), body weight group affected respiratory rate (Sig.<0.05), and the interaction between resting time and body weight group did not affect respiratory rate (Sig.>0.05). Resting time did not affect body weight loss (Sig.>0.05), body weight group affected body weight loss (Sig.<0.05), and the interaction between resting time and body weight group did not affect body weight loss (Sig.>0.05). Providing rest time for chickens that have just arrived at the slaughterhouse influences a decrease in body temperature, but has no effect on the decrease in respiratory rate and body weight loss.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the quality of ecoprint leather under different boiling temperatures and durations. The research method used was an experimental approach with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in a factorial pattern with two factors, First factor: Boiling temperature (60˚C, 70˚C, 80˚C) Second factor: Boiling duration (1.5 hours and 2 hours).The measured variables included leather quality parameters such as tensile strength, seam strength, tear strength, leather elongation, and color fastness to wet and dry rubbing. The results showed that the interaction between boiling temperature and duration had a significant effect (P>0.01) on ecoprint leather quality, particularly in terms of tensile strength, seam strength, tear strength, and color fastness to both dry and wet rubbing. Conclusion The quality of ecoprint leather is influenced by boiling temperature and duration in the ecoprinting process. It is recommended that the ecoprinting process on tanned leather be conducted at a boiling temperature of 70˚C for 2 hours

Abstract

Kayambang (Salvinia molesta) is an aquatic plant that has the potential to be an alternative feed for poultry. The aim of this research was to evaluated the use of kayambang leaves meal as a feed ingredient for layer quail. One hundred twenty day-old quail (DOQ) that reared for 7 weeks. The treatments of the using kayambang leaves meal as much as 2%, 4% and 6% in the ration. The experimental design used completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The results showed that the treatments was given in the ration not significantly affected (P<0.05) on consumption, feed conversion, and egg production, egg yolk, egg weight, and thick of shell. In can be conncluded 3% of kayambang leaves meal can be used as an alternative feed on the quail layer ration.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the physiological response of empty and lactating buffalo mothers in semi-intensive rearing system in Pemalang Regency, Central Java. This study is an observational study with t-Test analysis. The population in this study were all empty and lactating buffalo mothers in Surajaya Village, Pemalang Subdistrict, Pemalang Regency, Central Java. The sample was determined using purposive sampling. Instruments used in collecting data on buffalo physiology and environmental conditions using thermohygrometer, stopwatch and thermometer gun. Data analysis method used t-Test and Pearson correlation test to determine the difference between body temperature andrespiration rate of empty buffaloes and lactating buffaloes. The results showed that empty and lactating buffaloes had no differences or comparisons because both animals were in normal conditions, which means that the animals were in a comfort zone and able to adapt to their environmental conditions. However, based on the calculation of Temperature Humidity Index (THI) the cattle fall into the category of moderate heat stress. It is necessary to correct THI in accordance with the climatic conditions in Indonesia.
