Abstract

The success of broiler production is expressed in the performance of broiler chickens. One of the achievements of broiler performance is influenced by management. Housing management factors have an important role as a determinant of the success of broiler farms. The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance of broilers in closed cages and open cages at Agricultural PPPPTK, Cianjur. The material used in the study was a closed house with a size of 10m x 20m with 3,000 birds and an opened house measuring 8m x 3m with 2,500 broiler chickens. The research design used was a completely randomized design with 2 treatments, namely closed cages and open cages and 3 repetitions of maintenance periods. The research method used is the observation method (direct observation in the field). The data used in the study are primary data and secondary data, are data on maintenance results of broiler chickens in closed cages and open cages at Agricultural PPPPTK in 2018 for 6 maintenance periods. The variables observed in this study were mortality, feed consumption, final body weight, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and performance index (IP). Data that has been observed, collected, then analyzed using the t test. The results showed that mortality, feed consumption, final body weight, FCR, and IP in closed house were respectively 13.07%; 2.53 kg / bird; 1.43 kg / bird; 1.78; and 213, while in opened house respectively 7.70%; 2.24 kg / bird; 1.38 kg / bird; 1.62; and 255. The performance of broiler chickens in open house is better than closed house. The performance of broilers in both types of house showed a low which was reflected in the low performance index, <300. Keywords: Broiler, Closed house, Opened house, Performance.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research on Morphometrics of Male Pasundan on Various Age was carried out in July 2018 in Cibalong District, South Garut Regency, West Java. This study aims to determine the relationship between body size of male calves at various ages and estimation of body weight using body size. The object in this study was 28 male calves at the age of 1-12 months. The results showed a relationship (R2 approaching 1) with the equation of each measurement, namely the Logarithmic regression equation for body lenght and chest deep (96,837ln(x) – 311,88), Polinomial regression equation for body and length body height (-0144x2 + 2,9524x – 48,433), Power regression equation for chest deep and chest girth (0,5317x0,9285), Logarithmic regression equation for body length and chest deep (34,974ln(x) – 110,5), Polynomial regression equation for body height and chest deep (0,004x2 - 0,1438x + 19,89). The result also show that the best model of estimating the body weight of Pasundan cattel is to use the the Polynomial formula with the equation y= 0.218x2 – 2.2536x + 76.074 where x is the size of the calf’s chest girth.Keyword: Extensive, morphometrics, pasundan male calf, weight estimation, polynomial

Abstract

Broiler chickens in Indonesia have good prospects to develop. However, there are many obstacles that must be faced by broiler breeders, such as soaring prices of feed and medicine, harvest prices that tend to fluctuate, and the outbreak of bird flu that has not yet been found.  The objective of the experiment was to investigate the effectiveness of treating broiler with temulawak and kunyit extracts to enhance productivity and as imunostimulator of avian influenza.  Broiler were given either temulawak, kunyit or temulawak+kunyit extracts. The treatments, including a control, were arranged in a factorial design. Variables measured were production index and immune titter with haemaglutination Inhibition (HI) test at 35 days of age. Results showet that control, temulawak, kunyit and temulawak+ kunyit treated chicken have production indexes of 302,10; 387,11; 324,52; and 354,70, respectively. Haemaglutination Inhibition (HI) test result were all negative. It can be concluded that neither temulawak, kunyit or temulawak+ kunyit extracts is effective immunostimulator of avian influenza in broiler. Nevertheless, temulawak-treated chicken showed highest production index.Key Words : Temulawak, Kunyit, Avian Influenza, Haemaglutination Inhibition

Abstract

Mojosari x Alabio (MA) ducks have several advantages including higher egg productivity, early age of egg laying, faster growth, better production consistency, compared to its parents. The bay plant is scientifically named Latin Eugenia polyantha Wight. Bay leaves contain phenolic compounds, saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids and steroids. This study aims to determine the effect of giving bay leaf extract in drinking water on the percentage of giblet and mojosari alabio duck digestive apparatus.  The research was carried out in the cages of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Djuanda, Bogor, from March to May 2019. The cattle used in this study were 100 mojosari alabio (MA) ducks aged 1 day which were kept until one week old (adaptation period).  This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 replications and each repetition consists of 5 ducks. The treatments in this study consisted of 4 treatments: R0 = 0% bay leaf extract (control), R1 = 4% bay leaf extract, R2 = 8% bay leaf extract, R3 = 12% bay leaf extract.  The data obtained were analyzed using the Analysis of variance (ANOVA), the results data were significantly different (P <0.05) followed by the Duncan test. The variables observed in this study were: giblet weight and digestive organ weight. The results showed that giving of bay leaf extract had no significant effect (P <0.05) on the observation variables. The conclusion of this study is the provision of bay leaf extract in drinking water up to the level of 12% has an impact on the percentage of gizzard and pancreas at the age of 6 weeks. At the age of 8 weeks no effect on the percentage of giblets and the percentage of digestive organs of mojosari alabio ducks. It is recommended to give bay leaves in the form of flour with a level higher than 12%.Keywords: bay leaf extract, mojosari alabio duck, giblet percentage, digestive organ percentage.

Abstract

Sheep is a small ruminant llivestock that area mostly raised by farmers in Indonesia fat tailed sheep (DEG) is one of the genetic resources of livestock that has  economics, scientifics and socio-cultural values and has the potential; to be used to meet the needs of animal protein for humans. This study aimed to examine the effect of indigofera sp flour feeding on the physiological response of fat tail rams. The design used was a completely randomized design with the following treatments: control feed without administration of indigofera sp flour (P0), commercial feed + 10% Indigofera sp flour (P1), Commercial feed +20% Indigofera sp flour (P2). The treatments was given to male fat-tailed sheep with body weight (30 kg) and uniform age (1,5 years), healthy and not disabled. The variables observed were body temperature, respiration rate, heart rate, and feed consumption. The treatments of giving Indigofera sp flour to the ration was estimated to have a significant effect (respiration rate, heart rate and body temperature) from the normal limit compared to thr treatments of fat tail rams without administration of Indigofera sp flour.Key words: fat tailed sheep, Indigofera sp flour, physiological response

Abstract

Aimed this  study to know about percentage of drip loss at Musculus infraspinatus and Musculus gluteobiceps local cows after freeze-thawing. Musculus infraspinatus and Musculus gluteobiceps is cutting about 50-75 gram for 15 sample. All sample is weighing  for the first weigh and then freezing until 24 hours. After that thawing the sample until 24 hours too in refrigerator. Repeat this process until four season. The finally we can read drip loss in Musculus gluteobiceps is the bigger at process freeze-thawing fourth. Duncan test showing a diferent percentage of drip loss after freeze-thawing.Key words : Drip loss, freeze-thawing , Musculus infraspinatus and Musculus gluteobiceps
