Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of bank financial risk consisting of liquidity risk, credit risk, and other factors on bank stability. This study took samples from 41 open conventional banks in five ASEAN countries that experienced crises, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The analysis methods used in this study are a combination of simultaneous and non-simultaneous GMM and VECM for the data period between Q-4 2015 to Q-3 2020. It covers the period before and during the crisis. This study found a reciprocal effect of the two financial risks on bank stability in the long term, an effect of the combined two risks on bank stability in the short term, and other factors that also affect each of the risks and bank stability. The results of this study can provide further knowledge about bank financial risk management that can be useful for reducing the potential for bank bankruptcy during a crisis.

Abstract

Indonesia is currently experiencing a Covid-19 pandemic. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a bad impact on the majority of Indonesians. Companies in Indonesia were severely affected. Many companies have experienced a decrease in turnover and sales. This situation has resulted in a reduction in employees to a cut in wages. Company policy is undoubtedly not allowed to decrease employee performance, therefore. This study aimed to determine the effect of perceptions of salary on employee performance through work motivation. The research subject was the employees in Surabaya who experienced salary cuts due to the Covid-19 impact. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The total number of respondents was 88. The PLS results showed that employees' perceptions of salary did not affect employee performance. Perceptions of salary only affected work motivation. Work motivation affected employee performance, but work motivation did not mediate the effect of perceptions of salary on employee performance.

Abstract

Manufacturing companies in Indonesia experienced the most severe growth due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19). The effect of the pandemic resulted in companies reducing production capacity by reducing the use of utilities owned by the company. This study examines the effect of early supplier involvement on firm performance through teamwork and new product development. This research surveyed 55 companies from 104 manufacturing companies with more than 100 employees in East Java, Indonesia. The data collection used a questionnaire designed with a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis used SmartPLS version 3.0 to assess the measurement model and examine the hypothesis. This study developed nine hypotheses, which indicated that eight hypotheses were supported, and one hypothesis was rejected. Early supplier involvement affects teamwork, new product development, and firm performance. Furthermore, teamwork affects new product development and firm performance. Moreover, new product development affects firm performance. In addition, early supplier involvement indirectly affects firm performance through new product development and teamwork, respectively and simultaneously. These findings provide an insight for manufacturing management to consider early supplier involvement in developping new products and enhancing firm performance. This research will enrich the supply chain management theory, focusing on product development as the competitiveness of companies that are changing rapidly.

Abstract

Servant Leadership has been considered as significant to improve the leadership of educational leaders including the one at schools. This research explores the academic leadership in a faith based Senior Highschool in Indonesia. The research involves a mix method of interview and questionnaire survey with the purpose of confirming the understanding and enactment of servant leadership by the teachers. This study was guided by the central question ‘To what extent the teachers understand Servant Leadership? To what extent the teachers have practiced Servant Leadership (SL)?’ for interviewing the teachers. The authors apply the Servant Leadership Behavior Scale as the theoretical foundation and statement items for 261 students. The collected data are then processed using qualitative data analysis which involves a reiterative process of data display, data condensation and conclusion drawing. The authors concluded that teachers understand Servant Leadership as ‘mengutamakan orang lain’ (prioritizing others), mendengarkan (listening), dan mau terlibat/mendampingi (being involved) and in they have been practicing SL as in line with the understanding. These understanding and practice have been confirmed by the findings from the questionnaire that 3 out of 6 dimensions of SLBS that have been understood and implemented well, specifically: Voluntary Subordination, Covenantal Relationship, and Transforming Influence.

Abstract

This study examined how supplier collaboration practices can affect company performance through the mediation of lean manufacturing and inventory control in the context of Java, Indonesia. The mediating effect of lean manufacturing and inventory control on the relationship between supplier collaboration practices and company performance was investigated. This survey was collected among 88 manufacturing companies on the island of Java, which are engaged in the chemical and chemical goods sector and the non-metallic minerals industry. Validity and reliability analysis and structural equation modeling to test hypotheses using smartPLS software. This study reveals that supplier collaboration practices positively and significantly affect company performance. In addition, it also found that inventory control positively and significantly mediates the relationship between supplier collaboration practices and company performance. In contrast, lean manufacturing does not significantly mediate the relationship between supplier collaboration practices and company performance. This study contributes to the knowledge of the mediation effect in the practice of inventory control and lean manufacturing on the company performance-supplier collaboration relationship. Company leaders also gain insight on how to collaborate with suppliers to help companies implement more efficient business practices by making continuous improvements and always maintaining inventory levels so that companies can improve their performance.

Abstract

Information technology enables companies to build good communication and coordination with external partners. The information system owned by the company can provide fast information for management in determining the company's direction. This research proposed a model to investigate the effect of trust suppliers on firm performance through the mediation of information sharing and collaboration. For this purpose, this study postulates nine hypotheses to be examined. Eighty-five (85) manufacturing companies have been surveyed as the sample in this study. Data collection used a questionnaire designed with a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis used smartPLS software to examine the hypotheses. The result indicated that all hypotheses were supported as follows. Trust supplier, information sharing, and collaboration directly affect firm performance. Interestingly, information sharing and collaboration mediate the influence of trust in suppliers on firm performance. These findings provide a managerial implication on how to improve the firm performance by establishing trust in the supplier, sharing information, and developing collaboration between partners. This study also contributes to the current research in supply chain management.

Abstract

A covid-19 pandemic is a significant event that causes supply chain disruption in Indonesia. As a result, the manufacturing sector experienced a significant decline which is indicated by the greatly decreasing Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) in April and May 2020. Therefore, supply chain resilience (SCR) becomes essential for a company to minimize risk, reduce negative impact, and quickly adapt to the business condition. This research aims to analyse the relationship between variables that can increase SCR, namely information management capability (IMC) and collaboration, and the relationship between SCR and company performance. This research was conducted by collecting primary data using questionnaires and analysing the relationship among variables using the PLS-SEM method. This research indicates that IMC and collaboration significantly affect SCR. SCR also has a significant effect on company performance. However, IMC does not significantly impact company performance, while collaboration significantly affects company performance. This research also indicates that collaboration mediates the relationship between IMC toward company performance.
