Islamic Review merupakan jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Institut Pesantren Mathali'ul Falah (IPMAFA) Pati yang sebelumnya bernama Sekolah Tinggi Mathali’ul Falah Pati (STAIMAFA). Jurnal Islamic Review ini disingkat dengan “IR”. Dengan hadirnya jurnal “IR” ini diharapkan memberikan cakrawala baru mengenai keilmuan program studi (prodi) yang berada di bawah naungan IPMAFA, yaitu Pendidikan Bahasa Arab (PBA), Perbankan Syari’ah (PS), Pengembangan Masyarakat Islam (PMI), Pendidikan Islam Anak Usia Dini (PIAUD), Manajemen Zakat dan Wakaf (ZAWA), Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam (KPI), dan Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (PGMI).

Penerbit : Keluarga Mathali’ul Falah Yogyakarta Tahun terbit : I, 2012 Halaman : xvi + 187 halaman Setiap lembaga pendidikan tentu memiliki orientasi keilmuan yang telah dipilih guna mengantarkan peserta didiknya menuju pintu kesuksesan masing-masing. Ada lembaga yang hanya berorientasi dunia kerja (ekonomi). Ada pula lembaga yang hanya melulu hanya mengejar akhirat, dengan sedikit mempertimbangkan dunia. Kedua model lembaga ini cenderung mendikotomikan agama dan dunia. Selain itu, ada suatu lembaga pendidikan yang mencoba memadukan kedua tujuan pembelajaran sebelumnya. Namun, di era serba instan dan pragmatis ini model lembaga yang ketiga ini sudah mulai ditinggal oleh masyarakat. Padahal sebagai umat muslim seharusnya mampu mengintegrasikan antara dunia dan akhirat sebagai tujuan pendidikan. Salah satu lembaga pendidikan Islam yang istiqa>mah memadukan keilmuan yang bersifat agama dan duniawi adalah Mathali’ul Falah (selanjutnya disingkat Mathali’). Lewat buku berjudul “Madrasah Para Kiai; Refleksi Untuk Satu Abad Perguruan Islam Mathali’ul Falah” para alumninya ingin mengenalkan dan membuktikan sisi idealitas keilmuan itu. Sehingga meskipun berada di tengah-tengah perubahan arus lembaga pendidikan yang berorientasi pada dunia kerja, Mathali’ mampu konsistensi dan bersaing. Bahkan dalam kurikulum pendidikan -yang setara dengan MI/SD sampai MA/SMK/SMA-Mathali’ tidak mengikuti Sistem Pendidikan Nasional yang dianggap sementara ahli-pendidikan ‘gagal’ membentuk peserta didik yang berkarakter dan berwawasan moral-agamis.

Abstract

Pesantren is the oldest and unique educational institution which has Indonesian characteristics, therefore, many studies have been conducted from different perspectives, especially in the terms of periodisation of its history. However, the study appears to be so broad and described in general while correlating with the role and its progress involved. On this basis, this paper will examine deeper in the role of pesantren in the context of history of education in Indonesia. Based on the historical analysis through library research, the study shows that pesantren in Indonesia is periodically divided into five periods, viz: emergence, development, evolution, ideological fortress, and Muslims media development. While the role of pesantren is to be the source in formulating the national education system, preparing the educational and intellectual figures and the character education model.

Abstract

The emergence of the issue of terrorism in Indonesia uccusedly done by the Muslim students make many Muslim intellectuals interested to cunduct more studies. Because it is well known that the traditional boarding school is the oldest educational institution in Indonesia which is tolerant in differences and diversity. Based on the modern multicultural theory, this paper intends to prove the consistency of pesantren as an educational institution that teaches diversity which has always been the sound. Based on the descriptive analysis through literature study, it is found that as traditional educational institutions, pesantren teaches about the values ​​and traditions that reflect diversity. In addition, there are several elements emberio of tradition that encourages diversity, this is the mainstream schools, while the terrorist groups have nowhere to enter in.

Abstract

The success of pesantren in delivering the students have an integral knowledge, piety attitude, politeness behavior, independence, and sincerity, a simbol that is recognized and powerful embedded in society. In his journey, many aspects of being teased between maintaining the character of Islamic tradition with a desire to follow the demands of change. Understanding the need to formulate the essence pesantren material structure studies, education and learning strategies as well as management and leadership that is able to make the schools persist in their characteristics, and also provide additional opportunities for the study of the material process of adaptation to the needs in the community. As a result, traditional pesantren alumni possess the character but modernist in addressing the changes and developments.

Abstract

As the children learning practices in the national learning system do not consider physical and spiritual dimensions, it can not lead to a humanist learning system, even it may be said as un-Islamic. Is Gaza>li>, a classical Islamic education leaders who offer the concept of human potential that can sinergize the two-dimensional requirements of human. Based on this, this article intends to study and applying the concepts of learning students. By using a descriptive analysis of the literature owned by Gaza>li> it is found that human potential consists of the potential birth (al-h{iss al-khams) and the inner potential (al-khaya>l, at-tafakkur, al-khifz{, at-taz|akkur dan al Musytarak). According to him, these two potentials have their different functions each of which greatly affect the learning process of students. Furthermore, the thesis Gaza>li> This was the same even able to integrate the theories of modern cognitive psychology and behavioral education.

Abstract

Pesantren is a traditional Islamic educational institution whose purpose is to equip the students with tafaqquh fi> ad-di>n and al-akhla>q al-kar>imah to achieve success in the world as well as hereafter and to thrive in the countryside. Due to the demands of global development, pesantren runs modernized school salafi> to khalafi> to serve the community. Development is done by balancing religion and science as well as general science in their curriculum, which is done through formal education. Thus, pesantren always has development which keep space with the development era rhythm. This is consistent with the andegium they hold i.e. preserving good old things, as well as taking and developing new things which are better. Curriculum development is performed by adjusting the global demand, without leaving the tradition of reading “yellow book” as a dynamic space for the boards of the pesantren; so that the characteristics of the salafi pesantren is still maintained and the spirit of khalafi can be accommodated. Thus, pesantren develops a curriculum with an emphasis on Islamic values which aims are to form ‘abd Alla>h and khali>fah Alla>h fi> al-ard{ without leaving the matters concerning individual worldly needs.

Abstract

Kecenderungan pelaku tindakan fundamentalisme radikalisme agama berasal dari alumni sekolah bukan dari madrasah pesantren. Pahadal madrasah yang juga mengajarkan agama-bahkan berbasis agama- para alumninya sama sekali tidak terlibat. Atas dasar inilah tulisan ini mengkaji lebih mendalam mengenai strategi madrasah pesantren dalam meminimalisi atau mengikis radikalisme agama di Indonesia. Berdasarkan kajian pustaka dengan metode deskriptif-analisis ditemukan bahwa strategi madrasah pesantern tersebut adalah mendirikan madrasah yang memadukan ilmu agama dan ilmu yang datang dari Barat, materi yang diajarkan mengandung konsep kedewasaan dalam mengahadapi perbedaan, reorientasi dan reformulasi kurikulum pesantren-pesantren nonmainsteam, kebangkitan atas nalar intelektualisme, mengedepankan ajaran rah}mah li al-‘a>lami>n dan mensinegikan ilmu agama dan umum berdasarkan prinsip at-tauh}i>d.

Abstract

Banyak di sekitar kita tokoh yang mempunyai karisma baik dalam bidang keagamaan, pendidikan ataupun bidang lainnya. Sebagai contoh adalah sosok kyai yang menjadi figur dalam kehidupan masyarakat di bidang keagamaan. Kyai diklaim oleh sebagian masyarakat memegang peran penting dalam kebijakan dan penyelesaian permasalahan keagamaan. Peran seperti ini merupakan sebuah upaya menjalankan fungsi sosial seorang kyai dengan tujuan meningkatkan sejehteraan masyarakat. Bentuk riilnya sangat beragam, seperti pengajaran ilmu keagamaan, upaya peningkatan ekonomi sampai pada memberikan kesempatan kerja masyarakat.

Abstract

Constitutional desain which regulate the principle of district goverment with decentralization system give freedom to point out the vise of every district. But there is problem of disharmony because the conflict of authority. How is the significance vice district in the presidential system? How the politic of law regulate the ideal of vice district position? So Ideally the vice elected by the head of the district not elected by people of the region. The distribution of duty and authority between the head and his vice should be clear to avoid overlapping among them. The vice truly become the vice and responsible for the head of the district.

Abstract

This paper discusses about the fundamental cause of conflict in ethnicity and identity: stereotype and prejudice. The writer uses the perspective of Jurgen Habermas’s theory of rational discourse and communicative action to analyse the phsycological problem, and to find it’s implication to political action and system of law in the multicultural society. The basic concept here is Lebenswelt, an ideal living society with natural elements of life and no discrimination and ideological domination. Stereotype and prejudice action is an epistemological and phsycological problem of society. So, open discourse and rational dialogue are always needed to build an ethical and just democratic society.
