Abstract

This study will discuss the form of class language in a collection of short stories. Interestingly in Indonesian in a unique collection of unique short stories to be studied, because most of the others have not thought form kias in a literature. Kias are always only examined in the form of text utterances containing the mandate of parents and so on. This research uses Keraf theory (2010) as a form of kias language style, and kias meaning using Manaf (2008) and Aminuddin (2008) theory. The method which is the method ordered by Sudaryanto (1993). The results of this study found that the forms and meanings of language styles found most often in the book Satu Hari Bukan di Hari Minggu Yetti A.Ka's work is simile, personification, irony, cynicism, sarcasm and epithet which refers to the meaning that corresponds to the short story text and in accordance with the context of the short story.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membandingkan dua teknik pembelajaran yang efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran menulis argumentasi. Guru memerlukan teknik pembelajaran pembelajaran yang efektif dalam proses pembelajaran menulis argumentasi agar siswa lebih termotivasi dalam belajar dan hasil belajar siswa pun lebih maksimal. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain penelitian eksperimen untuk memperoleh data. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X4 dan X5 SMA N 14 Padang. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian ini adalah tes unjuk kerja menulis argumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar menulis argumentasi siswa yang diajar dengan teknik brainstorming adalah 79,56 dengan tingkat penguasaan 76—85% berkualifikasi baik, hasil belajar menulis argumentasi siswa yang diajar dengan teknik mind mapping adalah 80,64 dengan tingkat penguasaan 76—85% berkualifikasi baik. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar menulis argumentasi siswa yang diajar dengan teknik brainstorming dan teknik mind mapping karena thitung < ttabel yaitu 0,312 < 1,67. Dengan demikian dapat dikatakan bahwa teknik brainstorming dan teknik mind mapping sama-sama efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran menulis argumentasi. This study was conducted to compare the two techniques used for effective learning in the process of learning to write arguments. Teachers require learning techniques for effective learning in the learning process to write the argument that students are more motivated to learn and student learning outcomes even more leverage. This research is a quantitative study using design experimental studies to obtain data. The sample was graders X4 and X5 SMAN 14 Padang. The instrument used to collect the data of this study is to test the performance of written arguments. The results showed that the learning outcomes of students who are taught to write arguments with brainstorming technique is 79.56 with a 76-85% level of mastery of well-qualified, learning outcomes of students who are taught to write arguments to the mind mapping technique is 80.64 with a mastery level 76-85% well qualified. Statistical analysis showed that there was no difference in learning outcomes of students who are taught to write arguments with brainstorming techniques and mind mapping techniques for tcount <ttable ie 0.312 <1.67. Therefore, can be said that the technique of brainstorming and mind mapping techniques are equally effective are used in the process of learning to write arguments.

Abstract

Think pair share (TPS) type of cooperative learning model is a useful teaching strategy to train students to reconstruct their knowledge they have learnt. It gives students time to think, respond and help each other. It has three important phases; think which means thinking problems individually;  pair which means discussing and drawing a hypothesis of a problem in pair; and share which means pairs of student share their ideas and the other students respond to their presentation in the class. The population of this research was all students of grade X at MAN Kota Padang. Problems which rise in grade X MAN Kota Padang are students low concept acquisition and mathematics comunication ability in learning mathematic. In order to overcome those problems, it was planned to apply think pair share. Therefore, this research was intended to know the influence of TPS toward the students’ concept acquisition and mathematics comunication ability. This research was quasy experimental. Data analysis used test of t test dan Mann Withney  U. Based on analysis data showed that : (1) The students’ concept acquisition and mathematics comunication ability who studied by using TPS better than those who were taught by using conventional learning.(2) The concept acquisiton and mathematics comunication of the high prior knowledge, medium prior knowledge dan the low prior knowledge of student who studied by using TPS better than those who were taught by using conventional learning. Based on the result of the study, the researcher suggest TPS cooperative learning model a considerable teaching model because it has effectively improved students’ concept acquisition and mathematics comunication ability.

Abstract

This research was classroom action research. Classroom action research was a research that was conducted by a teacher in order to find out solutions of any problems found during teaching and learning process. In this research, it was done to explain whether by using an outline technique could improve the students’ writing paragraph and also to investigate some factors that influenced the students in writing descriptive paragraph. This research was done at grade VIII B of SMP Negeri 6 Sungai Penuh in academic year 2017/2018. From the result of the test in this research, the result was increased in cycle and two. In cycle one, the mean score was 58.25% and it increased to 76.87%, it increased 18.63% point. It meant that teaching writing through outline improved the students’ writing skill. The improvements were also improved on the result of each sub-indicators of writing test between cycle 1 and 2.

Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating the perception of the lecturers of English toward their teaching and learning performance by finding out the most dominant indicators of performance in terms of planning and preparing, conducting learning process, and learning evaluation. The design of the study was survey study involved sixteen lecturers of English at ten different medical colleges in Jambi as participants. The data were obtained through a set of questionnaire. The percentage analysis was used as technique to find out the most dominant indicators of teaching and learning performance implemented by lecturers of English at medical colleges in Jambi in terms of the three sections (planning and preparing, conducting learning process, learning evaluation).
