Abstract

The use of question instrument in determining achievement of students’ study goal can be referred from the score achieved by the students in solving contextual questions with solution or solving strategy in high level of thinking. The research aims to get integrated assessment toolsof conceptual understanding of Pteridophyta and metacognitive skill that is validated and can be used in learning activity. The research is conducted in July 2018 – November 2019 at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, course of Botany Cryptogamae, sub-course Pteridophytes. This is a Research and Development study using 4D method (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). However, the research will be conducted up to the develop phase only. The result shows that integrated assessment toolon conceptualunderstanding of Pteridophytesand students’ metacognitive skill is proper to be used, with expert validation result shows 78.13 on criteria for concept understanding, and 79.17 for students’ metacognitive skill. Result of instrument validation shows more than 0.396, means it is valid, and reliability more than 0.6.

Abstract

The availability of teaching materials in SMP and MTs Nurul Muchlishin is limited. Thus, some students need to copy the textbook and simple teaching materials with a percentage of 14% and the students' creative thinking skill is low with a percentage of 48%. An effort that can be done in order to overcome this problem is by developing the teaching materials in the form of Buku IPA Berjendela. The objective of this research is to know the advisability and teacher’s also students’ responses through Buku IPA Berjendela. The type of this research is Research and Development (R & D) and it was developed by using 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The result of the study is the advisability of Buku IPA Berjendela on the material content validation is 90.59% (very decent); format validation 94% (very decent); and display validation 94.17% (very decent). Teacher’s response is 100% (very good) and students’ response are 99.56% (very good). Buku IPA Berjendela is suitable to be used to train students' creative thinking skill by using many features in the book.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with the second highest dengue cases in Southeast Asia in 2004- 2010 (WHO, 2012). Examination used in diagnosis of DHF diagnosis is platelet count, which is done at Mitra Kemayoran Hospital, if a clot occurs when checking platelets using EDTA anti- coagulant. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in platelet count results using EDTA and Na Citrat anticoagulants. This research was conducted at Mitra Kemayoran Hospital in April - June 2018. The samples in this study were all patients who performed platelet count examination at Mitra Kemayoran Hospital in April - June 2018. The data in this study were carried out by examining the platelet count using anticoagulants EDTA and Na Citrat. The data in this study were analyzed using Normality Test and t-est Test. The results at this time obtained the p-value of the examination results of 0.222 from these results can be censored if there are no correct results from examining the platelet count using EDTA and Na Citrat anticoagulants.

Abstract

The Selarong Cave area which is located in Bantul is a tourism site that has a humid environment condition due to the dense of big trees in these locations. There is also a waterfall. These conditions make it possible for bryophyte to grow surrounding the area. This research aims to identify the type of bryophyte grow in the Selarong Cave area, and know the characteristics. The method of this research is the exploration method which includes site investigation, identification, inventory, and descriptive analysis for both morphology and anatomy of the bryophyte. The finding of this research shows that there are 6 species of bryophyte which were found in the Selarong Cave area. They are Hyophila involuta (Hook.) Jaeg., Barbula consanguinea (Thw.&Mitt.) Jaeg., Bryum erytropus Fleisch., Weissia controversa Hedw., Preissia sp., and Vesicularia dubyana (C. Mull.) Broth.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop a textbook for a course of pengembangan bahan ajar biologi (Biology teaching material development) for the students of biology education department, Faculty of Education and Teachers Training, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. This research is a Research and Development (R & D). The development was done by referring to a 4-D model which includes define, design, develop, and disseminate. The assessment of the product was conducted by the expert of the material and the expert of the media. The trial was done by 47 students of biology education department, Faculty of Education and Teachers Training, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. In detail, there are 10 students for the small group trial and 37 students for the field trial. The data was collected using questionnaires. The data which was obtained from the questionnaires were analysed descriptively. The finding of the research is as follows; 1). The textbook is suitable to be used in the learning process, 2). The developed textbook was assessed by (a) the aspect of content advisability belongs to good quality, (b) the aspect of presentation belongs to good quality (c) the aspect of language belongs to very good quality, and (d) the aspect of graphics belongs to good quality, 3). The students’ responses toward the developed textbook which is categorized as “good” in terms of both the aspect of the look and the aspect of the material presentation. Abstract

Used cooking oil contains free radicals that are carcinogenic. These radicals able to damage the myocardium structure. Red dragon fruit has many types of antioxidants. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of red dragon fruit juice on the histopathological image of albino rat (Rattus norvegicus) myocardium treated with used cooking oil. This study used thirty male albino rat  divided into 6 groups namely control healthy group (K), used cooking oil group (K-), vitamin C group (K+), 2.5 g red dragon fruit juice /kg body weight  (P1), 5g red dragon fruit juice/kg body weight  (P2), and 10g red dragon fruit juice 10g/ kg body weight (P3). Each group (except K) were given 2.5ml used cooking oil after one hour treated with a various dosage of red dragon juice for 30 days. On the 31st day, a surgical action was performed and the heart stained by Haematoxylin-eosin (HE). The quantitative data of parenchymal degeneration, hydropic degeneration, and myocardium necrosis were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA and LSD.The results showed that red dragon fruit juice can reduce parenchymal degeneration, hydropic degeneration, and necrosis due to the used cooking oil treatment. The most effective dose of red dragon fruit juice that reduce myocardium damage was 10 g/ kg body weight.
