Abstract

As the largest professional health workforce in Indonesia, nurses face high demands and responsibilities in hospitals, making them vulnerable to burnout syndrome. Resilience and self-efficacy are considered important factors that may mitigate this risk. This study aimed to analyze the relationship of resilience, self-efficacy, and burnout syndrome among nurses. This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 140 inpatient nurses, from which a sample of 100 respondents was selected using stratified random sampling with a 5% significance level. The majority of nurses had high levels of resilience (58%) and self-efficacy (55%). However, a high level of burnout syndrome was also found in 55% of the nurses. The Spearman Rank correlation test revealed no significant relationship between resilience and burnout syndrome (p=0.968), nor between self-efficacy and burnout syndrome (p=0.921). No relationship was found between resilience, self-efficacy, and burnout syndrome in the nurse population of this study. Further research is recommended to explore other contributing factors or to investigate this phenomenon in different contexts, such as among nurses in the education sector.

Abstract

Around 7.8 million of the 23 million children under five in Indonesia were stunted. The Indonesian government was committed to overcoming stunting, as stated in the national strategy plan for stunting prevention by 2018-2024. This study aims to examine stunting prevention strategies through the integration of nutrition, health education and socio-economic status in a vulnerable group, namely toddlers, in priority locations. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The data were collected through interviews, documentation and observations to informants who were considered to know the importance of nutrition in the first 1000 days of birth as an effective intervention on child growth. Education and parental involvement in managing children's diets have an effect on stunting risk. Nutritional education to parents can play an important role in changing family eating behaviors. Successful interventions in addressing stunting involve a combination of strategies, including supplementation, nutritional supplementation, dietary changes and educational campaigns. Stunting prevention through improving nutritional fulfillment requires a holistic approach that involves various aspects, including nutritional education, access to quality food sources, supportive nutrition policies, and public understanding of the importance of a balanced diet.

Abstract

Some previous acute coronary syndrome (ACS) studies have focused on educational interventions or general management of ACS, without reviewing the key role of systematic early assessment in reducing morbidity and mortality. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of initial assessment in improving early response and clinical outcomes in ACS patients in pre-hospital care. A systematic review was conducted on 16 articles obtained from five databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, Scopus, and ProQuest. Keywords used in the literature search included “initial assessment,” “Pre hospital,” and “Acute coronary syndrome (ACS),” with a publication range between 201 and 2024. The initial search yielded 88 articles. After removing duplicates and screening based on inclusion criteria as well as selection by title, abstract, and full text, 16 articles were included in the final analysis. Article quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) appraisal tool. The analysis showed that a systematic and timely initial assessment significantly improves diagnostic speed, accuracy of early intervention, and reduces mortality and complications in ACS patients. Ongoing training for pre-hospital healthcare providers, standardized treatment protocols, and inter-system emergency care collaboration are essential to improve overall clinical outcomes. This review recommends integrating initial assessment as a key component of pre-hospital services and cardiovascular emergency management strategies.

Abstract

Ministerial Regulation No. 1501 of 2010, Article 21(2), highlights the formation of a Rapid Action Team (RAT) as a part of Indonesia's outbreak control strategies. However, due to the massive spread and increase in Covid-19 cases, the education and training for RAT was carried out online. This study aims to identify determinant factors influencing the effectiveness of education and training using the online method for RAT community health centers. It employed a quasi-experimental design one-group pretest-posttest. The sample consisted of all training participants, totaling 60 individuals, from 12 health centers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Data analysis involved both simple and multiple linear regression tests. Research findings indicated that: 1) a significant difference existed in participants' knowledge scores before and after receiving education and training using the online method; 2) Determinant factors related to effectiveness included the quality of assignments, participant satisfaction with facilitator performance, and participant engagement. Continuation of online education and training methods can be achieved through ongoing monitoring of task quality, participant engagement, and facilitator performance. Technical challenges can be addressed by recording activities, testing content, and preparing contingency plans

Abstract

Many toddlers in Indonesia still suffered from chronic malnutrition. The condition was still not in line with sustainable development goals (SDGs)'s target of eliminating all forms of malnutrition by 2030. This study aimed to analyse the influence of maternal anemia, low birth weight (LBW), and birth spacing on incidence of stunting. The study employed an analytical approach with a cross-sectional design. The research instrument was a checklist sheet with secondary data sources from monitoring the local area of maternal and child health (PWS KIA) and registers. A total of 93 toddlers were selected for this study using simple random sampling. The statistical tests used were chi-square tests. The results showed that almost all of toddlers did not have a history of anemia (79.57%). Similarly, nearly all toddlers did not have a history of low birth weight (LBW) (94.62%). Almost half of toddlers had an interpregnancy interval of two years (49.46%). Most toddlers were not affected by stunting (67.74%). The data analysis showed that a history of anemia did not affect on stunting (ρ = 0.632 and OR= 1.29). However, history of LBW did influence stunting (ρ = 0.001 and OR = 119.23). The interval between pregnancies also affected on stunting (ρ = 0.000 and OR = 25.75). Through the provision of good nutrition and proper parenting, the risk of stunting in toddlers can be reduced. History of anemia had no effect, while history of LBW and interpregnancy interval had an effect on the incidence of stunting. The next pregnancy needs to be planned by setting a minimum spacing of 2 years to 5 years.

Abstract

Previous studies have shown that the level of family knowledge increases significantly after receiving health education about the treatment of stroke patients and the use of video media is effective in increasing family knowledge, especially on how to perform range of motion (ROM). This research aims to assess how ROM educational videos impact the knowledge and skills of family caregivers in training stroke patients. It used a pre-experiment one group pretest-posttest approach. The research sample was 50 family caregivers with stroke at Ajibarang Hospital in East Java, Indonesia, selected by purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were questionnaires and checklist sheets. ROM education was conducted once via a 10-minute video. The results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The research results showed an influence of ROM educational videos on the knowledge and skills of family caregivers with a p-value = 0.001. Further research could add a comparison group and increase the frequency of the intervention. The authors recommended a regular implementation of health education using video media as part of routine educational programs in healthcare facilities. This is because videos have been proven to enhance family caregivers’ understanding by combining audio and visuals and being able to replay at any time.

Abstract

The incidence of congenital hypothyroidism (CH) in Indonesia was estimated to be as high as 1 in 1,500 live births, significantly higher than in neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam. However, despite efforts by the Ministry of Health to implement CH screening as part of maternal and child health services, the program's national coverage remains limited. This study aimed to identify factors influencing congenital hypothyroidism screening (CHS) implementation among mothers with newborns. The study was conducted at the Sekarwangi Health Center area, Sukabumi Regency, in 2023. This cross-sectional study used proportional random sampling to collect data from 291 respondents. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were performed. Bivariate analysis showed that only the mother's occupation, time, and distance to healthcare facilities significantly influenced CHS implementation (p<0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that the variables of occupation (p=0.016, PR=3.433), income (p=0.045, PR=2.348), marital status (p=0.023, PR=7.720), and accessibility of healthcare facilities (distance) (p<0.001, PR=2.055) were significant. Based on the analysis, accessibility to healthcare facilities (distance) was the most dominant factor influencing CHS implementation among newborns, followed by the variables of occupation, income, and marital status. Improving access to healthcare services is necessary, such as through the provision of mobile healthcare programs and digital-based education, to expand the coverage of screening.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are a vulnerable group to anemia, which can increase the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of health promotion through animated video on adolescent girls’ knowledge, attitudes, and adherence to iron supplementation in preventing anemia. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed, involving all seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Rancaekek, Bandung Regency, West Java who met the inclusion criteria (n = 152). The group allocation was conducted using purposive sampling. Data analysis included frequency distribution, T-test and Wilcoxon test for bivariate analysis, and logistic regression for multivariate analysis. The results showed a significant improvement in the intervention group: knowledge (p ≤ 0.001), attitudes (p = 0.001), and adherence to iron supplementation (p ≤ 0.001). The novelty of this study lies in the use of interactive animated video, which not only improves knowledge but also enhances attitudes and adherence among adolescent girls. The findings suggest that animated videos are effective as an educational medium for anemia prevention in adolescent girls and recommend routine monitoring as well as support from health workers to promote synchronized consumption of iron tablets at school.

Abstract

One in five children under 5 years old do not grow well due to malnutrition. This condition can be overcome by giving randu honey and date juice. Honey can help with nutrient absorption, while dates have a balanced nutritional composition. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of randu honey (Ceiba pentandra) and date juice in increasing the appetite of malnourished toddlers. The research design is pre-experimental with a two-group pre-test-post-test design. Purposive sampling was used to select 20 toddlers diagnosed with malnutrition. Data were analyzed using the paired sample t-test. Instruments included observation sheets, the Children’s Eating Behavior Questionnaire (CEBQ), and checklists. The increase in appetite had a higher mean difference in the date juice group compared to the randu honey group, which was 19.40±25.10 with a p value of 0.006. This indicates a difference in appetite increase between the randu honey and date juice intervention groups. This study recommends that toddlers should be given natural ingredients such as date juice to increase their appetite.

Abstract

Nurses constituted the largest workforce in the global healthcare system but faced challenges such as high workloads, limited decision-making autonomy, and a negative public image, all of which affected their quality of work life. This study aimed to map and analyze the quality of work life among hospital nurses and its influencing factors. A scoping review method was applied using the Arksey and O’Malley framework, guided by the PRISMA-ScR checklist. Literature was sourced from PubMed, Scopus, EBSCO, ScienceDirect, and Gscholar, focusing on full-text articles in English or Indonesian published between 2020 and 2025. Ten articles were included in the final review. Findings indicated that nurses’ quality of work life was generally at a moderate level. Among the four dimensions assessed, namely work life/home life, work design, work context, and work world, the highest scores were found in the work context dimension, while the lowest appeared in work life/home life and work world. Factors influencing these outcomes included age, gender, experience, workload, family responsibilities, shift patterns, and perceptions of the profession. This review highlighted the need for targeted organizational and policy-level strategies to improve nurses’ well-being at work.
