Abstract

This research was triggered by complaints of female students who suffered from dysmenorrhea and had their activities disturbed. Meanwhile, dysmenorrhea symptoms can be overcome by physical exercises, pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Lack of exercises is a risk factor of dysmenorrhea pain severity. Moreover during Covid-19 pandemic, exercises became one of the top physical activities for maintaining immunity and physical health. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between physical activities during Covid-19 pandemic and dysmenorrhea pain levels among female students. This study used cross-sectional approach and the data collection technique used International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF) instrument. The sampling method used purposive sampling and the sample size were 194 respondents. The results of Spearman's rank statistical test showed a correlation between physical activities during Covid-19 pandemic and the pain level of primary dysmenorrhea, in which the r value is 0.745 and the p-value is <0.05. The Research results could be disseminated to educational institutions to carry out a program of joint physical activity.

Abstract

Clinical learning is a very important activity at the stage of professional nurse program. In this activity, the students implement theories obtained during college. The learning process requires a good method in order to achieve learning objectives. Furthermore, clinical supervisors must identify the existed obstacles so that they can determine the clinical learning method to be used. The purpose of the study was to describe some clinical learning methods in the practice of professional nurse program and the obstacles in the clinical learning. It was a descriptive analytical study with cross-sectional approach. The samples were 88 students of professional nurse program, selected by using the accidental sampling technique. The bivariate analysis used chi square statistical test. The test results showed that experiential learning method and preceptorship method was highly implemented (respectively 22.7%), observation learning method was frequently implemented (34%), the conference method was rarely used (34.0%), and the nursing clinic method was extremely sparse (64.7%). The most frequent obstacle in clinical learning came from clinical supervisors (65.9%). The statistical results obtained p value 0.001 < 0.05, which can be concluded that there was a relationship between methods and obstacles of clinical learning.

Abstract

Brisk walking exercise is an intervention that can lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. It is very effective to stimulate muscle contraction, increase heart rate and oxygen in the tissues and break down glycogen. This exercise can reduce the process of plaque formation through increased glucose and fat utilization. The research objective was to determine the effectiveness of brisk walking exercise on lowering blood pressure of hypertensive patients. This study was a systematic review. The articles were obtained from online database, namely Science Direct, Scopus, Wiley Online, Oxford Journal, Research Gate, and Google Scholar from 2010 to 2020. The search obtained 10 articles which showed that brisk walking exercise had a significant effect on lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Brisk walking exercise should be developed as a clinical intervention of lowering blood pressure in health services such as hospitals and public health centers.

Abstract

Stroke is a disease caused by an impaired blood flow to the brain that can cause death. The risk factors of stroke can be divided into modifiable factors and non-modifiable factors. Stroke prevention can be done by avoiding modifiable risk factors. This research used a retrospective method and a total sampling technique of 200 stroke patients as the respondents. The data was taken from their medical record document at the Tulip Room of Doctor Dradjat Prawiranegara Hospital from January to March 2020. The data were analyzed by a descriptive approach which described the variables of age, sex, type of stroke (ischemic or hemorrhagic), and history of disease (hypertension, DM, and cholesterol) in-depth. The variables were considered as modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors. The risk factors in this study were determined based on the medical record data which showed the highest number. The results of this study indicated that most of the respondents experienced ischemic stroke. In addition, the most non-modifiable stroke risk factors were age > 50 years and male sex. Meanwhile, the modifiable stroke risk factor showing the highest percentage was hypertension. It was the main cause of intracerebral hemorrhage, more than 60% of stroke patients suffered from it. Further research should more emphasize on the relationship analysis of risk factors and stroke occurrence.

Abstract

Response time is the indicator of emergency patient management. The handling delay can be fatal, which one of the factors is a high workload causing fatigue. Fatigue was physically characterized by a decrease of movement reflex quality which results on a decrease of emergency response time. This study aimed to identify the effects of fatigue on the response time of emergency patient management. The research design was correlation with cross-sectional approach on 21 emergency department officers who were selected by total sampling technique. The instrument of fatigue measurement was the Indonesian version of Fatigue Severity Scal; while the response time was measured by an observation sheet and stopwatch. The results showed that 52.4% of respondents experienced mild fatigue, 100% response time of emergency patient management was suited to Australasian Triage Scale (ATS) category 1,2,3,4,5 with a median score of 57 seconds, and the response time of 52.4% respondents was less than 57 seconds. The value of Spearman Rank test obtained r value 0.121 which indicates statistically no correlation between fatigue and response time. The weak statistical test results still showed a value that fatigue cause the decrease of problem-solving analysis ability, reflex and movement quality which results on response time decrease. It is necessary to handle fatigue with stress management, work hours arrangement, and adequate rest time management.
