Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the structural characteristics of each type of swing arm material of the Honda Supra X 125R motorcycle against random vibration responses. The random vibration response is modeled in modal analysis so that the value of natural frequency, maximum displacement, and correction factor that occurs can be identified. This research is based on FEM simulation by making 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor software, which is then simulated using Ansys software. Based on the results of the FEM simulation, it was found that the most dominant mild steel material with the best response was SS400, with a maximum equivalent stress (von Mises) value of 16.601 MPa and a maximum displacement of 2.9109e–002 mm. The modal analysis results also show that the SS400 material has the most dominant response, with the highest average natural frequency in shapes 2, 4, and 5 modes, and has the smallest displacement value in shapes 1, 3, and 4 modes.

Abstract

The weapon system's modernization is expected to anticipate a very conditional and fluctuating defense situation. One is developing Medium Altitude Long Endurance Unmanned Aircraft (PTTA MALE) vehicles by completing weapons systems to strengthen the national defense system. This study analyzes the technical specifications of weapons systems that meet user needs at PTTA MALE. This study uses qualitative and quantitative methods with research analysis using a Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach. The analysis is carried out based on the priority scale value reference from the technical specifications of the user requirements. The research results obtained priority scale of operational requirements and technical specifications of weapons systems based on Benchmark Performance (BP) values, namely weapon load (84.31%), warheads (80.39%), guidance systems (68.63%), sensors ( 68.63%), target distance (68.63%), based on independence (63.40%), target type (63.40%), and explosion range (49.02%).

Abstract

Natural fiber composites are an alternative Multilayered Armor System (MAS) material. One of the most common natural fibers used as MAS is a fiber made from bamboo rope. Bamboo fiber composites have a low density and a low manufacturing cost. However, in terms of mechanical properties, bamboo fiber composites have different characteristics. In this research, the mechanical properties of the bamboo rope fiber composite, which has an orientation of 0°/90°, will be analyzed. The composite materials used are bamboo rope fiber as a reinforcement and epoxy as the fiber binding matrix. From the mechanical tests performed, it was found that the average tensile strength of the bamboo rope fiber composite was 109.86 MPa. The bending strength is 95.32 MPa, and the shear strength is 34.11 MPa.

Abstract

Utilizing a nuclear propulsion system as a source of propulsion is one method for extending the durability of warships. Compared to using natural oil, using nuclear energy as a propulsion system offers a high effectiveness value. The Molten Salt Reactor illustrates a reactor design that can be utilized on warships (MSR). The current MSR is still quite big. Therefore in this research, an optimal design of the Small Modular Molten Salt Reactor (SM-MSR) core will be adapted to the surface area of ​​a warship. From the simulation and optimization carried out with the MCNP software, the parameter used as a reference is criticality. The optimal fuel material composition is 1% Li and 2% U-235, with an optimal design geometry having a cell core pin radius of 0.8 cm, a pin cell blanket radius of 2.6 cm, and a core height of 160 cm. The initial design of the SM-MSR in this study had a negative coefficient of void reactivity.

Abstract

This research uses the finite element analysis method to examine the design and safety analysis of the bracket roll brush. The problem occurs when the bracket roll brush is deformed during the wetting process, which impacts the printout of the product, where the ink dirt is still attached. The bracket roll brush uses 6061 T6 aluminum material of 38 mm x 25 mm x 19 mm, and the weight generated from mass properties is ± 0.03 Kg. The loading variable on the bracket roll brush is 147 N, 172 N, and 196 N. The simulation results show that the bracket roll brush has a maximum stress value of 85.551 N/mm2, and the value at the maximum stress of the bracket roll brush is still below the material yield strength value of 275,000 N/mm2. The simulation results on the bracket roll brush have a maximum displacement value of 0.0035 mm. And the simulation results on the bracket roll brush have a minimum safety factor value of 3.214.

Abstract

In the digital era, the need for electricity supply is very large. According to research data from the Ministry of Communication and Information, in 2019 Indonesia had a high need for electrical energy, reaching 50,000 Mega Watts. Fulfillment of renewable energy such as PLTO in Indonesia's maritime areas is still very possible. The aim of this research is to design a PLTO device using the cylinder float method on a small scale. Ocean waves will move the buoy up and down and move a series of gears and generators. The amount of lifting power (buoyancy) is influenced by the dimensions (length and width) of the cylinder float. The dimensions (length and location of inertia) of the arm also determine the amount of torque to rotate the gearbox and generator. From the results of the float mass-based PLTO design, it can be seen that on the first day of data collection the highest voltage was 16.06 V, current 0.66 A and electrical power 10.59 W, on the second day the highest voltage was 18.2 V, current 0.66 A and power electricity 10.53 W.

Abstract

The availability of solar energy has great potential for application in the agricultural sector. Electrical power from photovoltaic cells or solar panels mainly depends on sunlight at certain times. The use of this technology can be applied to pump drives in agricultural irrigation systems. In this research, we try to measure a certain time with the efficiency of components from using solar photovoltaic (SPV) with the water discharge produced by the pump on these components. From the experimental results, it was found that the best efficiency was at 14.00 WITA with an efficiency of 57% with the panel facing directly to the sun. From pump testing, it was found that the average water flow was 20.95 liters/minute. From these performance tests, Indonesia itself has sufficient levels of solar radiation to use solar panels as an alternative to sustainable resource.

Abstract

PT. TL Pasuruan is a company operating to produce bottled mineral water products. The type of product that is often produced is mineral water in 600 ml bottles using preform materials. The problem occurs when the material is replaced from type B to type A, the effect is that there are many defects caused by the temperature of the heater not matching the type of material used before. This research method is the Response Surface Methodology. The type of factorial design used is Box Behnken Design (BBD) with Minitab 21 software. The results obtained using Minitab software are 54 runs. The results of the study using the response surface method obtained the parameter settings for zone 1 = 164.7475℃, zone 2 = 137.8990℃, zone 3 = 74.4242℃, zone 4 = 76.8081℃, cycle time = 4.2485 (s) and blowing time = 1.250 (s). The product quality response variable is 0.6845 with a desirability of 1.000.

Abstract

As a producer of cold water in large quantities used by PT. XYZ Pasuruan to cool the room and production machines, one of the most important elements is to use a water chiller system. Success in producing cold water is supported by optimal parameter settings in the system. Less than optimal settings result in a decrease in the COP value of the water chiller system.This research was conducted to analyze the heat flow in the condenser and evaporator using temperature variations in the water chiller system. Data processing was carried out using the Logarithmic Mean Temperature Difference (LMTD) method From the results of research using temperature variations, the optimal settings for the water chiller system were obtained, namely at a temperature variation of 5⁰C with a COP of 6.1 and an LMTD value of 3.97 for the condenser and 1.49 for the evaporator.

Abstract

In the case study at PT XYZ Pasuruan, there is a preform production in the packaging section using an injection molding machine with the brand SIPA XFORM 500 using PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) material. In February-April 2023, there were cases of short-shot defects in as many as 20,737 pcs of preform products. The method used in this study is RSM (Response surface methodology) by calculating using minitab21 software based on Box-Behnken experimental design. The independent variables used consisted of temperature (280 °C, 283 °C, and 285 °C), holding pressure (65 bar, 67 bar, 70 bar), and cooling time (1.8 s, 1.9 s, 2 s) so that 15 runs of experiments were obtained. From the optimization results, a temperature of 285 °C, a holding pressure of 70 bar, and a cooling time of 1.8 s. The resulting variable short-shot response of -0.0128 with a desirability value of 1.0 indicates that the program is increasingly able to produce the desired product perfectly.
