Abstract

Providing formula milk is still the biggest obstacle in the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Bali Province reported as a province in Indonesia with the highest use of formula milk. This study aims to look at the percentage and factors of interest of breastfeeding mothers on formula milk. The method used is a mixed-method with questionnaire sheets and interviews. The results show the proportion of formula milk interest is 25.48%. Factors that increase interest in formula milk are higher education 3.03 times (CI 1.18-7.81: p0.02), duration of work more than 6 hours 12.22 times (CI 5.95-25.09: p 0.01), and not giving Exclusive Breastfeeding 5.85 times (CI 2.94-11.65; p 0.01). While the absence of promotion of formula reduces interest by up to 77% (OR 0.23 CI 0.13-0.42; p 0.01). The reason for the interest in formula milk is that mothers must work so that there is no time for breastfeeding, inadequate breastfeeding, and time off It is enough. Better guidance on how to store breast milk should be prioritized for working mothers not only an understanding of the benefits of breastfeeding. Health workers should review government regulation No. 33 of 2012 regarding exclusive breastfeeding to support breastfeeding and limit the use of formula milk.

Abstract

Typhoid fever is one of the infectious diseases which can cause many problems in Indonesia and other developing countries. This fever occurs as a result of infections triggered by Salmonella typhi bacteria. The growth of Salmonella typhi can be inhibited using antibiotics. This study aims at investigating whether there is a difference in the sensitivity test of  Salmonella typhi bacteria in an isolate of patients with typhoid fever and pure culture in a laboratory on some antibiotics.Salmonella typhi bacteria were isolated typhoid fever suspects at one of the hospitals in Surakarta. Pure cultures of Salmonella typhi bacteria were obtained from Microbiological Laboratory of Setia Budi University. Sensitivity test of antibiotics on Salmonella typhi bacteria used diffusion method. Data on antibiotics of inhibition zone diameter (mm) of antibiotics were analyzed statistically using the Two-Way Anova test. The research results demonstrate that the sensitivity test on Salmonella typhi bacteria in an isolate of patients with typhoid fever shows resistance (R) towards amoxicillin and sensitivity (S) towards trimethoprim, chloramphenicol, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin. Meanwhile, pure culture shows sensitivity (S) towards trimethoprim, chloramphenicol, gentamicin, amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin. The diameter of the inhibition zone of the patient isolate is smaller than that of pure culture.

Abstract

Achievement of the learning objectives of a student with the method of learning problem based learning (PBL), can be influenced by the results of extracting their peer information in small groups because the information obtained by students will be discussed to perfect the knowledge gained. This study applies a small group discussion (SGD) and tutorial in the PBL method. The results of the study, there was an increase in the value of students before and after treatment with a value of p = 0,000, and there was a difference in the grades of students in 2017 and 2016, where the grades of students in 2017 were better than in 2016, with p = 0.001. The results of the interview that students prefer the SGD method over discussion in large classes, students feel better understand the discussion material, each group member is more active and gives their opinions according to the theory of the book or journal that has been studied, lecturer attention to each student is greater, so students are very enthusiastic in studying the material and discussing it. PBL method with SGD is very effective to be applied in learning to increase the activeness, interactive, learning motivation, and critical thinking of students.

Abstract

Many alternative contraceptives can be used as needed. The most effective type of contraception is injection contraception because it is relatively safe, effective, simple and inexpensive. Contraceptive users must be selective in choosing contraception because there is no method of contraception that is safe and effective for all acceptors. The side effects of Medroxy Progesterone Acetat injection include bleeding disorders such as amenorrhoea, weight gain, high blood pressure, acne, spotting. Medroxy Progesterone Acetat is a progestin contraceptive regimen that is often used and works long-term. The mechanism of action of Medroxy Progesterone Acetate injection is to inhibit gonadotropin secretion so that it will prevent the maturation of primary follicles in the ovary and also prevent ovulation and cause endometrial depletion. The research design is the post test only control group design. The population in this research  are the white rats species Rattus norvegicus Wistar strain. The samples are taken randomly from all populations that met the following sample criteria: Female rats, Aged 12-14 weeks, having a body weight of 150 - 200 grams. The results showed that Medroxy Progesterone Acetate hormone affects the thickness of the endometrium, and there is a difference in the histological picture of endometrial thickness due to the administration of the Medroxy Progesterone Acetate hormone and without the administration of the Medroxy Progesterone Acetate hormone

Abstract

During in vitro maturation (IVM), oocytes are exposed to different situations from in vivo which may cause oxidative stress. Supplementation of antioxidants to the culture media is effective in as antioxidant defences against reactive oxygen species (ROS). Antioxidant is safe, it has some side effects. This is reviewed in this paper. Studies reported, supplementation antioxidant with different dose showed different effects. Double-edged effects of exogenous antioxidants on cellular responses during in vitro maturation depending potentially on their concentrations. Physiologic doses leading to beneficial effects whereas high doses may result in harmful effects.

Abstract

The importance of breastfeeding for the health of mothers and children has been accepted by people all over the world. Based on data from the Pekanbaru City Health Office (2016), the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Pekanbaru was 50.70%, below the national target of 80% and in the Umban Sari Health Center was only 39.22%. Some studies stated that self-efficacy and husband's engagement during the breastfeeding process support the successful of breastfeeding. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between husband's support and maternal self-efficacy in breastfeeding. This is a non-experimental research with correlational type. The study was conducted at the Umban Sari Health Center in January to September 2019. The data was collected by using primary data by self-reported questionnaire, processed by editing, coding, entry, cleaning processing, and then analyzed by regression correlation test. The results showed that there is a strong correlation between emotional (r = 0.63), informational (r = 0.56), appraisal (r = 0.53) support with maternal self-efficacy in breastfeeding, but moderate correlation for instrumental support (r = 0.47). By these results, it is suggested that the breastfeeding class program in the prenatal by involving husband needs to be held
