Abstract

The purpose of this study are to determine the antibacterial activity of mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata Lamk) and determine the lowest concentration of mangrove leaf extract can inhibit the growth of bacteria. Mangrove leaves macerated with methanol and then partitioned with solid liquid extraction method successively with n-hexane, chloroform, and ethylacetate. Thus obtained extract methanol, n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethyl acetate extracts insoluble. Each extract was tested antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 with agar diffusion method. The methanol extract, can inhibit the growth of E. coli at concentrations up to 200 mg/mL of 10.7 mm. Chloroform extract and extract of 8.1 mm by 8.2 mm ethylacetate to a concentration of 25 mg/mL, while the bacterium S. aureus, methanol extract and insoluble ethyl acetate extract is able to inhibit S. aureus up to a concentration of 50 mg/mL with a diameter of inhibition respectively 8.2 mm and 7.2 mm. At the chloroform extract can inhibit the growth of bacteria to a concentration of 6.25 mg/mL of 9.8 mm and 9.2 mm ethyl acetate extract to a concentration of 12.5 mg/mL. Abstract

Daun Kecombrang (Etlingera elatior (Jack) RM. Smith) diketahui memiliki banyak efek farmakologi seperti hipoglikemik, antimikroba, antifungi, antioksidan dan lain-lain. Standardisasi ekstrak etanol daun kecombrang dilakukan untuk mengendalikan mutu dan keamanan dari ekstrak sebagai bahan baku obat tradisional. Penetapan standar mutu ekstrak meliputi parameter spesifik dan parameter non spesifik. Ekstrak yang dihasilkan merupakan ekstrak kental berwama cokelat memiliki rasa yang pahit dan berbau karamel. Kadar senyawa yang terlarut pada pelarut air ekstrak daun kecombrang adalah ≤3,27% dan kadar senyawa terlarut dalam etanol adalah ≤4,52%. Penapisan fitokimia menunjukkan ekstrak mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, saponin dan tanin dengan pola kromatogram yang menunjukkan adanya senyawa flavonoid dengan menggunakan pembanding quersetin dengan nilai Rf yang sama, kadar flavonoid total ekstrak ≤0,198%, kadar air sebesar ≤9,64% dengan bobot jenis ekstrak 5% sebesar ≤1,0127g/ml. Kadar abu total diperoleh ≤3,68% sedangkan kadar abu tidak larut asam ≤2,.83% Total cemaran bakteri rnemenuhi syarat dengan nilai 6,033 x 102 koloni/g sedangkan cemaran kapang tidak terdapat pertumbuhan.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic disease that poses a health problem in the world, including Indonesia. The aim the research is to identify the interaction of anti-tuberculosis drug (OAT) with nonOAT and other medications in addition to OAT given to patients of pulmonary tuberculosis at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makasar hospital. This research used descriptive study design with a retrospective data carried out at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makasar hospital. The research design was descriptive study with a retrospective data. Data were collected from medical records of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in inpatients who were given treatment from January to September 2015. The result shows that among the positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients there were 24 males (61.5%) and 15 females (38.5%). The most prevalent drug interaction was significance level 4 with 36 cases (42.35%), there were 67 cases (78.82%) of delayed onset, and 54 cases (63.53%) of moderate severity interaction. The most interaction mechanism was pharmacokinetic interaction with 74 cases (87.1%) out of 85 total number of cases who experienced drug interactions.

Abstract

The leaves of (Moringa oleifera L) is empirically used in community as an anti-inflammatory. This study aimed to determine the anti-inflammatory effects of ethanolic extract of (Moringa oleifera L) based on the decrease in the volume of the rat foot edema induced by α- carrageenan, inflammation that occurs is measured using a pletysmometer. Tests is performed using Na.CMC as a negative control and Voltaren as a positive control. The results showed that the ethanolic extract (Moringa oleifera L) leaves has anti-inflammatory effects at concentrations of 5% with 47.09% in amount and in stable formulations show the formula 1 with a concentration of 1% carbopol.

Abstract

Drug Related Problems (DRPs) merupakan suatu kondisi terkait terapi obat yang secara nyata atau potensial mengganggu hasil klinis. DRP dapat terjadi pada penanganan berbagai penyakit salah satunya demam tifoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persentase kejadian DRPs pada pasien demam tifoid rawat inap di RSU Anutapura Palu periode 2014 - 2015. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional dengan pengumpulan data secara retrospektif dari rekam medis pasien. Data yang diperoleh dikaji secara deskriptif berdasarkan literatur-literatur yang relevan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dari 87 pasien menunjukkan jumlah kejadian DRPs kategori obat tidak tepat sebanyak 6 kasus (8,00%), obat tanpa indikasi sebanyak 0 kasus (0%), interaksi obat sebanyak 31 kasus (41,33%), dosis obat kurang sebanyak 34 kasus (45,33%), dan dosis obat lebih sebanyak 4 kasus (5,34%).

Abstract

Food processing industry, which is developing rapidly, leads to increase the use of dyes, especially natural dyes. One of the natural dyes found in plants is anthocyanin. In this research, the researcher analyzed the anthocyanin content in purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) and purple yam (DioscoreaalataL.). Purple sweet potato and purple yam were extracted with 70% ethanol acidified with HCl 1%. The analysis was conducted using differential pH with absorbance measured in the UV-Vis spectrophotometer on 510 nm and 700 nm wavelength. The results showed that total anthocyanin content in purple sweet potato was 5.0 mg/L and in purple yam was 1.6 mg/L.

Abstract

Leaves of mulberry (Morus alba L.) is one of the Moraceae family that has long been used as traditional medicine. Empiricallysociety have used of mulberry as a folk remedy for influenza, malaria, hypertension, asthma, hypertension drugs, palpitation, diabetes, insomnia, vertigo, anemia, and Hepatitis. The purpose of this study was establishing a specific and non-specific standards of the ethanol extract of mulberry leaves. The extract was obtained by maceration method using ethanol 70% with rendamen of 19.52%. Specific parameters include organoleptic observations such as, Dark Green color, distinctive smell, and has a bitter taste.Furthermore determine their flavonoids, tannins, steroids, alkaloids. Chromatogram pattern indicates the presence of some stains and Rf values are different. The compound Levels of water-soluble is 0.805%, while compound level of ethanol– soluble is 0.474%. Total ash content is 6.89%. Non–specific parameters include acid insoluble ash content is 1.8575%. The mass of extract specification 1.045 g/mL. Total bacterial contamination eligible extract as much is 10.66 X 10-2 colonies/g, and a total of mold contamination as much is 13.6 X 10-2 and 14,3x10-3 colonies/g

Abstract

Konsumsi minuman beralkohol diketahui berkorelasi dengan terjadinya kerusakan sel-sel pada organ tubuh sehingga memicu timbulnya berbagai penyakit. Pada sebagian komunitas masyarakat kota Ambon, konsumsi minuman tradisional beralkohol dapat menjadi faktor resiko terjadinya penurunan fungsi hati dan diabetes mellitus tipe 2. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui efek konsumsi minuman tradisional sopi terhadap enzim aminotransferase sebagai penanda fungsi hati dan kadar glukosa darah sebagai penanda DM pada subjek sehat. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan desain Cross Sectional dengan observasi laboratorik pada sampel serum 28 subjek di laboratorium RS Tk II Prof. Dr. J.A Latumetten dan Balai Kesehatan Kota Ambon. Hasil analisis menggunakan uji paired sample t-Test menunjukkan bahwa kadar AST ditemukan terjadi pada 93% subyek (rerata 47,93±18,49 U/l), kadar meningkat pada 18% pecandu (rerata 46,89±14,10 U/l) sedangkan kadar glukosa yang rendah ditemukan pada 82% subyek (rerata GDP 57,39 mg/dl dan GDS 92,32 mg/dl). Peningkatan enzim ALT dan AST serta penurunan kadar glukosa tidak menunjukkan adanya korelasi yang signifikan terhadap faktur usia dan durasi konsumsi, namun menunjukkan korelasi positif yang signifikan terhadap kuantitas sopi yang dikonsumsi oleh para pecandu.

Abstract

Research on determination of total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of bidara leaves (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) has been conducted. This study aimed to determine the total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of bidara leaves (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) by using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Total flavonoid content was determined at a wavelength of visible light 437.55 nm using a comparison of quercetin. Antioxidant activity was performed by measuring DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging by UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 516.94 nm. Free radical scavenging activities carried out by comparison with Troloks® radical. This study showed that total flavonoid content of ethanol extracts of bidara leaves (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) is equal to 1.5312%, and IC50 90.9584 ppm. This result indicates that the ethanol extract of bidara leaves (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) has potential as a powerful antioxidant.

Abstract

The research about irritation test of antioxidant cream from fermented Rosella’s flower infusion using emulgator Novemer has been conducted. This research was aimed to found emulgator Novemer’s concentration that using in the formula of antioxidant cream has the irritation effect on the rabbit’s skin. This research utilized 6 rabbits with the skin has been abraded at the back for a 1-square-inch, those for each irritant sample using 3 formulas of the antioxidant cream I, II, III, (have variation in concentration of emulgator Novemer) and its cream base. The test is measured by patch test by Draize. The results indicate to primary irritation index of the three formulas of antioxidant cream and the cream basics are middle irritating (irritation index 0.5 - 2)
