Abstract

Students' inactivity in learning and teacher inaccuracies in using the model led to low science learning outcomes in elementary school. This investigation aims to analyze students' science learning outcomes through the SAVI model. Class Action Research from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart was used as a research method. Valid science learning test instruments and observation sheets of learning implementation are used as research instruments. The results of the investigation showed an increase in the results of science learning in grade 4 students in elementary school, this can be seen in the percentage of changes in the completion of their learning outcomes. This study provides recommendations for teachers to apply the SAVI model in the classroom learning so that students' science learning outcomes improve.

Abstract

This study examined the roles of School Based Management Committee on Girl Child Access to Primary Education in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Cross-sectional survey design was adopted and School Based Management Committee Roles Questionnaire (SBMCRQ) was the instrument used to collect data. The sample size of 759 respondents comprising of 378 teachers and 381 SBMC members from 346 primary schools in Kaduna State using multi-stage sampling technique was used. A total of 759 copies of the questionnaire were given out to the respondents and 717 copies were returned after the administration. There was 94.5% rate of return. The instrument was validated by experts. The Cronbach alpha reliability for the SBMCRQ is 0.85.  The data collected were analyzed with the use of frequency and percentages as well as mean and standard deviation. It was found that activities of School Based Management Committee in Kaduna State in terms of sensitizing the general public about importance of girl-child education, advocacy visits to community stakeholders, awareness creation and regular engagement and interaction with religious leaders with a view to do away with misconception about education of female children have yielded positive results in terms of increase of girl child’s access, enrolment, retention and completion of primary education. It was recommended that School Based Management Committee should be made more functional in all primary schools in Kaduna State. The Government at the State level should intensify supervision and inspection of schools to ensure that SBMC is more effective and maintains positive relationships with teachers for excellent girl-child access to primary education.

Abstract

The study investigated management strategies of Head teachers and parental support in special primary schools in Lagos state, Nigeria.The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprised all the The study investigated management strategies of Head teachers and parental support in special primary schools in Lagos state, Nigeria.The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprised all the seven School Heads and teachers in the special schools as well as all Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members in the schools. A sample of 31 respondents was used, 21 respondents were selected using the cluster sampling technique while 10 PTA members were sampled using the convenient sampling technique. The instruments used in the study for collecting data were a self-designed questionnaire titled “Influence of Management Strategies on Parental Support Questionnaire” (IMSPSQ) and an interview guide titled ‘Influence of Management Strategies on Parental Support Interview Guide’ (IMSPSIG).The validity and reliability of the instruments were ensured before use. Percentage and frequency counts were used to analyse the data collected. The result showed among others that providing parental support skill acquisition programmes, effective communication with parents, providing opportunities for parents to suggest ideas, involving different stakeholders and adoption of decentralized decision making approach were the various management strategies adopted in special primary schools in Lagos state. The result also showed that the level of influence of management strategies on parental support in special primary schools in Lagos State was moderate. The study recommended that government and other concerned organizations and bodies should sensitize schools and organize training programmes, seminars or conferences for Head Teachers and classroom teachers in primary schools on the importance of involving parents in school management.Key words: Management, Strategies, Parental Support, Special, Primary-Schools

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the difference in the results of the pre-test and post-test of the experimental class using wayang media with the control class without using learning media as well as describing the increase in the ability to listen to folklore in Indonesian subjects in class V SDN 1 Windusengkahan. The method used is quasi eksperiment with the experimental class using wayang media and the control class without using learning media. Data collection techniques are test and documentation.This learning process uses the Non-Equivalent Groups Pretest-Posttest design. This research was implemented on 20 students in the control class and 20 students in the experimental class. The conclusion of the research results are based on the differences folklore listening skills in Indonesian subjects between classes that use wayang media and classes that do not use learning media after treatment (posttest) and an increase (gain) folklore listening skills in Indonesian subjects between classes that do not use media Classroom learning using wayang media. Keywords: Puppet Media, Listening Skills, Folklore

Abstract

This research was conducted because of the many cases that occurred regarding moral decline committed by teachers as educators. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the teacher's personality competence is an example of the character of elementary school students. The purpose of this study was to describe the personality competencies of teachers as character models of elementary school students. The research method used was a survey with quantitative descriptive analysis. To collecting data, we used closed and open-ended questionnaires. The sample of this study used non-probability volunteer sampling with a total of 94 teachers and 344 students as respondents. To validating the instrument, we used expert judgment. This research data analysis using descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that: the teacher's personality competence is in the very high category. This proves that the teacher has mastered the aspects of personality competencies that must be possessed by the teacher. Through the teacher's mastery of the teacher's personality competence, it shows that the teacher has a very important role to develop the character of elementary school students.
