Abstract

Ring inject cavity mould is a crucial component in the injection stretch blow process used in plastic bottle manufacturing machines. This process involves five main steps: injection, conditioning, stretching, blowing, and ejecting. However, damage to the ring inject cavity mould is a common occurrence, necessitating periodic component replacement. The objective of this research is to identify a more efficient production method for manufacturing ring inject cavity moulds at PT BIL. Currently, the manufacturing process is carried out using a conventional lathe, which requires 64 hours to produce 16 pieces in a single work order. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling machine as a more efficient alternative. The methodology employed involves comparing the production time between the conventional lathe and CNC milling, as well as implementing a fixture as an auxiliary tool in the CNC milling process. The data collected includes production time and product quality. The research results indicate that the use of CNC Milling significantly reduces production time to only 24 hours for 16 rings in a single work order, compared to the 64 hours required by the conventional lathe. Additionally, the quality of the products produced also meets the expected standards. The conclusion of this research is that the transition from a conventional lathe to CNC milling with the use of a fixture can improve the production efficiency of ring inject cavity moulds at PT BIL, with faster production time and maintained quality.

Abstract

The office chair mechanism is a tool used to adjust the height, backrest tilt, and armrest position of an office chair. PT. Nusamulti Centralestari faces issues of waste, low efficiency, and high defect rates. This research aims to identify types of defects and priority waste, calculate the sigma value, propose quality improvement suggestions, and evaluate the results using the DMAIC lean six sigma method. The research results indicate three priority types of defects: bubble painting (47.95%), slag welding (18.12%), and lumpy printing (14.03%). The types of waste include defects (average score of 4.4), inventory (average score of 4.2), and overprocessing (average score of 4.0). The sigma level before quality improvement was 3.3701 with Defect per Million Opportunities (DPMO) of 30,731.2696, and the production process efficiency was 72.55%. Proposed improvements for the bubbling paint defect include doing briefings and toolbox meetings regularly, enhancing process supervision, scheduling regular equipment maintenance, storing paint in a clean area, and scheduling room cleaning. Proposed improvements for slag welding and lumpy printing defects include doing briefings and toolbox meetings regularly, enhancing process supervision, and scheduling regular machine maintenance. Inventory waste is addressed by improving supervision and quality control and revising the SOP with simpler language. Over-processing waste is addressed by improving quality control and eliminating non-value-added (NVA) activities. After implementing lean Six Sigma, the sigma level increased to 3.5060 with a DPMO of 22427.4406, and the process efficiency increased to 74.09%.

Abstract

In an effort to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of dam monitoring, there is a need for more advanced systems compared to the manual methods still widely used. This study aims to design and develop a prototype system for monitoring water levels and controlling dam gates that can be operated automatically and in real-time. The methods used include ultrasonic sensors and water level float switches connected to an ESP-8266 microcontroller, as well as DC motors and relays to operate the dam gates. The data collected by the sensors is transmitted via the internet for remote monitoring. The results of the study show that the developed system can monitor water levels with 96% accuracy and 4% error, and provides a quick response to changes in water conditions. This system can also send real-time notifications through a web application, helping to reduce human workload and increase community preparedness around the dam area for potential flooding.

Abstract

This study investigates waste management practices in Nigeria’s construction industry, with a focus on evaluating the adoption of circular economy (CE) principles. Using a mixed-methods approach, including structured surveys and semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, the research highlights significant barriers to CE implementation. The findings reveal that while awareness of CE principles is moderately high, actual adoption remains limited due to financial constraints, weak regulatory enforcement, inadequate technical expertise, and insufficient infrastructure. The industry primarily relies on unsustainable waste disposal methods such as landfilling and open dumping, with limited recycling and material reuse. The study identifies opportunities for improving waste management through government-led financial incentives, regulatory reforms, capacity-building programs, and investment in recycling infrastructure. Furthermore, the adoption of digital tools like Building Information Modeling (BIM) and strategies such as modular construction are highlighted as promising approaches to reducing waste and enhancing resource efficiency. The research concludes with recommendations for a collaborative effort between government, industry, and educational institutions to drive the adoption of CE practices. Implementing these strategies could lead to significant environmental, economic, and social benefits for Nigeria’s construction industry.

Abstract

Graph coloring is used, because the results of graph coloring can be used in several systems, such as the scheduling and the coloring of map areas in this study. The goal in implementing graph coloring here is to get as few colors as possible in the 44 borders of villages in Jakarta Pusat. The problem of coloring graphs on the Jakarta Pusat’s villages map uses a greedy algorithm that exists on web-based maps and makes encyclopedias to support descriptions of areas that have been colored. The greedy algorithm is a form of algorithm that is currently developing in optimization problems by forming a step-by-step solution. Greedy algorithm can be applied to resolve the problem of graph coloring. The best solution to answer a graph coloring problem is to determine the chromatic number ????(????) using the greedy algorithm. Graph coloring on a map is done using a greedy algorithm to obtain the minimum number of colors possible without adjacent regions using the same color. Based on the research results, the least number of colors used in coloring the village map in Central Jakarta, which consists of 44 areas, is 6 types of colors.

Abstract

This study explored the integration of renewable energy solutions in sustainable building projects across three major Nigerian urban centers: Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. The research focused on the viability and impact of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind energy, and biomass waste-to-energy solutions in reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Data were collected through interviews, site visits, and simulations using energy performance modelling software. Advanced data analyses, including cost-benefit analysis (CBA), sensitivity analysis, and life cycle assessment (LCA), were conducted to assess financial viability and environmental impact. The results show that solar PV systems are the most effective, providing energy savings of 25% to 35% with a payback period of 6 to 8 years. Biomass waste-to-energy projects demonstrated promise in industrial settings, while wind energy adoption remains limited due to high upfront costs and longer payback periods. The study identifies key barriers to adoption, such as high initial capital costs, lack of technical expertise, and weak policy enforcement. Policy recommendations include increasing financial incentives, improving policy enforcement, building local technical capacity, and fostering public-private partnerships to accelerate renewable energy adoption in Nigeria’s urban centers.

Abstract

Pyrolysis is a thermochemical conversion process carried out to efficiently convert biomass, such as azolla and duckweed, to produce environmentally friendly fuels. This study aims to compare the results of the pyrolysis process of azolla waste with duckweed into fuel. This study uses a pyrolysis reactor to produce fuel products whose main products are syngas, bio-oil, and environmentally friendly carbon charcoal. From this study, it was found that azolla only produces 0.6% oil. This is 2.07% lower than duckweed, so duckweed is a potential raw material for bio-oil. On the other hand, azolla is able to produce more syn-gas fuel than duckweed, as evidenced by the longer ignition of azolla than duckweed.

Abstract

Kesulitan dalam mengakses informasi secara fisik serta kebutuhan untuk memahami kondisi infrastruktur listrik menjadi tantangan yang dihadapi. Oleh karena itu, aplikasi berbasis Virtual Reality (VR) dikembangkan untuk memberikan representasi visual kondisi fisik secara virtual dan mempermudah akses informasi bagi pengguna. Dengan kemajuan teknologi, VR memungkinkan interaksi dengan lingkungan yang disimulasikan oleh komputer. Aplikasi ini dikembangkan menggunakan perangkat lunak grafis 3D, yaitu Blender 2.78 dan Unity 5.6.2f1. dengan metode pengembangan Waterfall serta diuji menggunakan Blackbox. Fitur yang tersedia mencakup profil PLN sebagai sumber informasi perusahaan, peta lokasi untuk memudahkan navigasi pengguna, serta pengalaman VR yang memungkinkan eksplorasi kondisi fisik secara interaktif. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi ini berfungsi dengan baik, dengan interaksi yang dilakukan melalui layar komputer menggunakan mouse dan keyboard.

Abstract

Fitur rating dan ulasan di Google Play Store memiliki dampak besar terhadap keputusan pengguna dalam mengunduh aplikasi, karena ulasan dari pengguna sebelumnya sering menjadi faktor utama dalam menilai kualitas suatu produk. Penelitian ini melakukan analisis sentimen terhadap ulasan aplikasi e commerce menggunakan pendekatan pelabelan ulasan berdasarkan skor dan membandingkan kinerja algoritma klasifikasi Multinomial Naïve Bayes, Random Forest, Extra Trees Classifier, dan Support Vector Machine (SVM). Dataset yang digunakan terdiri dari 2000-2200 baris data, dengan dua skema pembagian rasio data latih dan data uji yaitu 6:4 dan 8:2, untuk menemukan model dengan kinerja terbaik. Hasil pelabelan menggunakan pendekatan score-based labeling menunjukkan bahwa ulasan negatif paling dominan pada aplikasi Shopee dan Tokopedia, sementara ulasan positif mendominasi aplikasi Blibli. Eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa SVM secara konsisten mencapai nilai akurasi tertinggi pada dataset dari ketiga aplikasi tersebut. Secara spesifik, akurasi yang dicapai pada dataset Shopee adalah 90% dengan rasio data latih dan data uji 8:2, pada dataset Blibli adalah 91% dengan rasio 6:4, dan pada dataset Tokopedia adalah 83% dengan rasio 8:2. Capaian didapat dengan kombinasi hyperparameter kernel linear, Radial Basis Function (RBF), polinomial, dan sigmoid serta tingkat penalti terhadap kesalahan klasifikasi (c) dengan nilai 0.1, 1, dan 10. Temuan ini membuktikan algoritma SVM menunjukkan performa terbaik.

Abstract

Network device monitoring has problems such as connectivity loss between routers. Network technicians are required to monitor all network devices at all times. This article aims to discuss the results of the network device monitoring system in Building A FPTK UPI using Grafana integrated with Telegram as an effort to monitor and repair problematic network devices. The method used is simulation using network software that is adjusted to actual conditions. Grafana and Prometheus are used in creating a device monitoring system. Prometheus works to retrieve data from the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and process the data using an exporter. Grafana can create visualizations on the network device monitoring system from the data that has been processed. This study uses a simulation method on PNETLab and VMware software. Based on the results obtained, the Grafana dashboard display can display the traffic interface on the router. The dashboard displayed is when ether 2 connected to the north 2nd floor router experiences interference which causes the north 2nd floor router to not get internet network access so that a warning appears in the form of a notification message R_LT2_UTARA | Down from DSTIbot via Telegram. The repair effort for the problem was carried out by connecting ether 3 from the middle 1st floor router to the north 2nd floor router so that the north 2nd floor router still gets internet network access. The repair displays the message notification R_LT2_UTARA | Up from DSTIbot via Telegram.
