Abstract

Chinese culture elements accepted for the first time by the Western countries was ceramic and silk. China's silk was found in ancient Greece during the Roman era and since then China has become the ?Country of Silk?. Chinese ceramics came to the West a bit later. It was during the Song Dynasty that Western countries started accepting Chinese ceramics, and soon after that Chinese Ceramics had became a new surprise to the Western Countries and had China known as the ?Country of Porcelain?. Porcelain as a cultural element is considered not only as material but also as a spirit. When the Europeans came to know the porcelain material, they had gradually been influenced by its spiritual content. Delicateness of ceramic slowly became a widely accepted aesthetic style, added with other factors that shaped the formation of the Rococo style that became very popular in Europe. This article used desk study to analyze and summarize the following three aspects: first, the impact of Chinese ceramic art on Western Rococo art, second, the art appreciation of Rococo art and third, to elaborate the influence of Chinese Ceramic and aesthetic in Western Countries.

Abstract

Various ornament of Indonesian people comes from the ethnic groups from all over the archipelago. As a tangible cultural ornament has a specific purpose and it does not change throughout the ages. Bali is one of the ethnic group in archipelago that has beautiful decorative art and one of the most popular tourism destination in Indonesia. Bali?s ornament generally seen as decorative carving on the column, window or even in door. The beauty of Bali is not only as an inspiration for their colors and sculpture but also the variety of forms that have been simplified in the ornament. Moreover, floral & fauna forms are easy to apply as an interior element in modern buildings. Generally the value of these ornament has a specific purpose related to the cultural and social custom in Bali people. So that the application need to consider more about the purpose of the symbol of the ornament.

Abstract

Research aims to answer on how to maintain a positive image of the government of Indonesia through Radio Taiwan International. Research used literature study method through data collection compiled based on the results of previous researches in journals and discussing communication, government and media, especially radio media, as well as data collection from seminars. Results of the study indicate that the Indonesian community residing in Taiwan requires intensive media to fill their minds, so that they remain proud to be Indonesian. Thus the image of the government of Indonesia remains positive. Recommendation of this research is the government of Indonesia has to use the local radio as a medium to keep a positive image.

Abstract

The 1998 reform in Indonesia has changed freedom press in Indonesia. Now press implements libertarian model which puts freedom first instead of responsibility. Previously, press implemented soviet communist model which put responsibility first instead of freedom. Fifteen years later, press in Indonesia has become political tool by the owner of the press company who has high position in political party participating in the 2014 election. This reflects on the disproportional news regarding corruption cases conducted by the government officer or parliament member from the contender party. Such news delivers not only facts but also misleading opinions to the society which creates trial by the press. In fact, presumption of innocent principle is a foundation for press reporting news as stipulated in Law No. 40 Year 1999 concerning Press and Journalistic Code of Conduct. In libertarian press there are always borders but such borders are not effective since the freedom of press in Indonesia is powerful. Article used qualitative and library research with secondary sources of law to gain a solution to this problem. Therefore, Press Board should maximize its function in supervising the implementation of presumption of innocent principle and to raise society awareness regarding the law supremacy. In the end, to fulfill press social responsibility, a press profession court shall be established to keep press independency.

Abstract

Through the development information technologies, online gaming has become a means of communication and interaction between people. They build a virtual social world between them. The problem of this research is how the online game players build they second or secondary lives, particulary how they create second communities, identity, and space in virtual world. This research use qualitative method. The informants are from the online game player aand the data obtained from observation and interview. The results are second lives has a meaning as parallel wolrd that build as a the first world. This live is represents the imagination of the individual fantasy world that provided by online gaming developers.

Abstract

ASEAN Free Trade will be started in 2015 and at that time global competition, especially between the countries of ASEAN would be more competititive. In ASEAN free trade area, every country in ASEAN could not simply disallow the incoming of foreign workers. Companies will be filled by workers from various countries, especially workers from ASEAN countries. Not only the government should prepare everything to face the ASEAN Free Trade, but also the working-age individuals need to prepare themselves to get involve in this competition. Preparation should be done by an individual in addition to being competent in his field, an individual also must have an adequate understanding of cultural diversity and its impact on a person's personality as well as how to deal with cultural diversity and challenges. Therefore, it takes a certain individual to the character to be able to work together with people with different cultures. This article was prepared based on need, using empirical observations and experience, as well as library research to answer all the problems that will confront every individual working age in the era of ASEAN Free Trade.

Abstract

This study began with the researcher?s interest to transform learning strategy in Japanese computer which has been longstanding in conventional way. In previous studies the Jigsaw cooperative strategy had been tested in the exact sciences in College. The researcher was challenged to bring the instructional materials of Japanese computer which are felt quite hard by students to be easier with mutual assistance. Heavy load materials are minimized. Learners must actively explore materials; it is not only from the teacher. The Jigsaw cooperative strategy was tested on three-semester students in order to determine the effectiveness of Jigsaw cooperative in Japanese computer learning. This study used pure experiment. The design involved two groups of subjects, one given by the experimental treatment with the Jigsaw cooperative strategy (experimental group) and the other group (control group) with usual learning technique. Data were taken in two ways: quantitative by making instruments such pretest and posttest to the two classes and qualitative by interview to complete the descriptive data analysis result. Furthermore, all results of the pretest and posttest were analyzed by measuring the normality and t-test to determine how the Jigsaw strategy successfully applied on the samples. To collaborate the results, the interviews were transcribed to see the response from samples on the Jigsaw cooperative strategy in Japanese computer learning. Results of the test data analysis in the experimental group and the control group showed that the Jigsaw cooperative strategy was proved more effective in Japanese computer learning than the conventional method usually used.
