Abstract

One of the works of Studio Ghibli who directed by Hayao Miyazaki entitled Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (????????) would be discussed in this research about the capitalist consumerism. The research method in this research was qualitative and descriptive analytical method. The results of this research will provide the new insights into the animation appreciation and the understanding of the implicit context in the story. People can understand the politic, economic, culture of Japanese after watching the work of Studio Ghibli. The author hopes that the results of this article will produce useful conclusions and will be used for the next study.

Abstract

This research was conducted to discover innovative and interesting methods to preserve also to reintroduce Javanese folktale to today?s society. The data were gathered from primary research through quantitative research to 104 respondents to know about folktale and opinion of modern preservation medium such as augmented reality medium, and also qualitative research through an in-depth interview to enrich the researcher?s fashion knowledge about printed technic and fabrics. Besides primary research, the researchers also conducted secondary research through various sources such as websites, e-articles, survey, and interview. The result of this research is an interactive scarf as a collaboration of fashion accessory as a physical medium and augmented reality technology to enhance its interactive experience. Based on the survey held, the most favorite fashion accessory among woman from the age of 18 until 30 years old is a scarf. Most women will have a scarf inside their bag, just in case they need it. By making an illustration of Javanese folktale on a scarf, it will hopefully attract the target market to retrace their memory and raise people?s awareness about Javanese folktale that seems to be forgotten in today?s era. The usage of augmented reality feature in this research is to give further information such as videos, images, or texts towards the illustration of the scarf by scanning the pattern by using the user?s smartphone.

Abstract

Internet plays an important role in modern social movements. One of the modern social movements succeeded in Jakarta was initiated by Teman Ahok named "Pengumpulan Satu Juta KTP Untuk Ahok". The article was a part of a larger research about cyberurban space in a social movement. Therefore, the research question was, ?how was imaginaries in cyberurban space concept in ?Pengumpulan Satu Juta KTP? social movement by Teman Ahok?? This study used the qualitative method. Data were collected using virtual ethnography method, with the observation of a video posted by Teman Ahok. Data were analyzed using Bormann?s Fantasy Theme Analysis. The results of this study form in three fantasy themes that describe the comments about ?Jakarta Butuh Kamu, Ayo Bergerak Sekarang? video. These themes are ?goodwill has to be supported?, ?I am ready to support Ahok, but how??, and ?Ahok is not fit to lead?. All these fantasy themes are in favor of ?it?s difficult but it is possible? rhetorical vision. The fantasy themes have emerged, and rhetorical vision is formed that linked all the fantasy themes. It can be concluded; that symbolic convergence has taken place in the dissemination of ?Jakarta Butuh Kamu, Ayo Bergerak Sekarang? video.

Abstract

"War againt the forgot" ? Some time ago the government through a bill drafted by the Ministry of Home Affairs rolled leadership succession issues covered in the bill of Privileges Yogyakarta which hands polemical dichotomy of choice 'Sultan is not automatically Governor' (by election) or 'Sultan is automatically Governor' (direct designation). Social and political conditions that nation endlessly polemical dichotomy is heating up at the public grassroot level to the national level lead to opposite parties and keep fire as unresolved. A Fine Arts Festival event titled "Nagari Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat" one century to coincide with HB IX, was presented in Jogja National Museum (JNM) 13 April 2012 and 2 weeks later, became a kind of 'witness marker' of the existence and the constellation 'Nagari Yogyakarta Sultanate - HB IX' with the Republic of Indonesia. Form of attitudes, arts events as a marker ? ?Titi pranoto mongso? - in ancient agrarian societies of Java was used as a natural event signs to be observed, the Arts Festival events can be read as a reminder to not forget, will conduct historical Yogyakarta. Practice of art criticism writing is about the Arts Festival event "Nagari Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat" in the perspective of art criticism, which is not only a cultural festival article coverage of events, but also the existence of a strong side shoot 'Nagari Yogyakarta Sultanate - HB IX 'is presented in the form of representation of the works of art are very diverse and are free to respond to a given topic.

Abstract

The research was conducted to explain a potential link between antisocial behavior and how children made sense of television program, Anak Jalanan. A survey was conducted on 248 children from 10-12 years old in Semarang with a non-random sampling technique. Besides, a correlation technique was used to examine a relationship. The results confirm that perceived reality on the show is related to children?s anti-social behavior. The findings bring about a warning alert to families, communities, and organizations that have concerns about the impact of media on children. They should reunite their efforts to do a more massive movement to make the media content more children-friendly. Parents also need to employ parental mediation at home to reduce the negative impact of such television programs on their children.

Abstract

Healing the inner wounds by forgiveness is an indispensable step for the recovery of one?s self so he/she can experience peace and prosperity. Both of patient (victim) and actors, they need to realize and to confess honestly and openly?in order to heal- that he/she was actually suffering from the inner wounds that areembedded in the heart, which can even be experienced by a person since he/she was in the womb, and therefore need to be take immediate action to forgive. Considering that inner wounds is a problem that can be experienced by anyone and the resulting negative impact in one's life, then the research was conducted. The study, based on a literature review indicates that there is a strong correlation between inner wounds suffered by a person with a bad past experiences. Research also shows that the inner wounds that can be healed by forgiveness. The study isexpected to be contributing to problem solving inner wounds caused by a person's past by forgiveness.

Abstract

Pragmatics is one of linguistics studies that is quite attractive to learn more about. There are many aspects of pragmatics; one of them is dealing with speech acts. Speech acts consist of many categories; one of them is directive speech act. This study aims to identify the directive speech act performed in ?Sleeping Beauty? movie. Likewise, it will find out how often the directive speech act performed and which type of directive speech act that are most frequently used in the movie. This  study used qualitative method in which data collection is done by watching the movie, analyzing the body movement and the dialogues of each character, reading the script and library research. A total of 139 directive speech acts were successfully identified. The result of analysis showed that the directive speech act of ordering is the most frequently used in the movie (21,6%). The least frequently used directive speech act is inviting directive speech act (0,7%). The study also revealed the importance of directive speech act in keeping the flow of storyline of the movie. This study is expected to give some useful insights in understanding what directive speech acts is.

Abstract

The long-term goal of this research was to make variety ornament documentation on architecture and the interior of Indonesian historical buildings, especially for buildings having the combination between western and eastern. The original plan of this research was to achieve some cultural preservation efforts, they were (1) to find various styles of design art, including the variety of native straits-born Chinese ornaments, Art Deco, and Neoclassical, or found that there are any acculturations among the ornaments in an interior. (2) To understand characteristics of each style and applied it appropriately in the interior space. (3) To find on how the building functioned and how to preserve as cultural heritage. The method began with a survey, interviews, and observations by documenting the application of Indonesia art and culture for cultural conservation, especially on interior design. The case study was straits-born Chinese buildings in Lasem, Central Java. The observation and research concerned with design styles applied in architecture, interior, and home decoration. The observation and research were followed by summarizing and analyzing the material obtained from field surveys result by comparing two samples of Chinese houses in Lasem that also supported with literature research. Researchers find several differences of art styles which had been applied. The styles are original Chinese decorations, Art Deco, and Neoclassical decorations.

Abstract

Everyone copes with stressful events in his/her life differently. Three strategies in dealing with stress include problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping, and religious-focused coping. Death of loved ones has been considered one of the major sources of stress in individuals and poses threat to their well being and adjustment if one?s failed to cope with the grief. Interestingly, previous studies show that families and caregivers of terminally ill patients suffered bereavement prior to the actual death, a phenomenon labeled anticipatory grief. Article presents a study with the purpose to investigate the relationship between different coping styles and anticipatory grief in parents of children diagnosed with cancer. Fifty-five parents, ranging from 20 to 60-year-old, participated in this study. Results revealed that coping style, particularly emotion-focused coping, significantly predict anticipatory grief in parents of children diagnosed with cancer. However, both problem-focused coping and religious-focused coping did not predict parental anticipatory grief in this study.

Abstract

University is an important institution that would form the nation culture and responsible for the culture transmission. The assessment of a good organizational culture is an important part in the study of organizational culture. The research objective is to analyze organizational culture of Bina Nusantara University comprehensively, the strengths and weaknesses of its effort to become ?The World Class University". The research methodology is qualitative with method combination of FGD, in-depth interviews and covert observation. The research outcome shows that Bina Nusantara University has had elements of modern organization characteristic such as innovative management (centralized non-academic function and decentralize academic function); transparent and results-oriented management system with clear and measurable target; detail operational procedure. It has been able to create healthy working environment that supports high integrity, working ethics, dedication, loyalty, opened communication and high sense of belonging. It utilizes information and communications technology through a comprehensive and integrated system called Binusmaya as its ikon and identity.As an educational institution, Bina Nusantara University should develop 3 other elements which are role model, spirit and character building. Former rector (the founder) was an inspired role model that provided a profound influence to the attitudes and behaviors of its members.
