Abstract

The lack of medical experts such as doctors at rural areas resulted in some problems such as the high cost of medical care and low service of doctors and medical resource provider. The conditions results in an idea to implement a communication system between rural medical practitioners and doctors in urban areas to perform remote diagnosis on patients (telediagnosis). The research involves several parties such as doctors, health centers, health practitioners (paramedics), patients, and hospitals and health institutions. The telediagnosis system development consists of the construction of a software application prototype as media input for patient data which will be sent to doctors at town, database systems design, integration of basic multimedia devices, medical diagnostic device integration, and application testing of telediagnosis performance using an android-based mobile application. Data integration patterns include patient data delivery patterns, checking a patient's diagnosis, saving and continuing to the physician or health care practitioner with real-timesystem. This study is conducted according to standard research stages: problem collection, problem analysis, research materials collection, research design, and research implementation. Telediagnosis system is used to facilitate remote diagnosis of patients at rural areas which is able to serve patients more quickly, and helps find out nearest location for patients to get medicines as well as recommendation of nearest hospital. This system helps decrease the workload of hospitals.

Abstract

Various history books as media to learn the history of Indonesia people are actually quite complete and adequate. However, the interest of younger generation, especially the children, to read the books is quite low. Additionally, the advance of computer technology makes kids and students more interested playing game than reading books. The game trend backgrounds the need for research on the use of computer game application as a medium to learn the history of the building through a game. As the special purpose of this research is to obtain a game application that can be a medium of learning historical buildings. The research is divided into two stages: the first stage is to identify gaming software that can be used as an educational game for historical buildings and to develop the model of 3D gaming applications; the second phase is the application trial and implementation at schools.

Abstract

Game is currently in great demand by various circles, especially children. Children's interest in the game can be used as a tool to increase children’s intellectuality, i.e. English competence. The purpose of this study is to design an animal-themed quiz game in English languange based on Windows 8 operating system, followed by making a game prototype designed. This game is expected to be an exciting educational tool for children in learning English and broadening the knowledge about types of animal. The research is conducted through the stages of game design requirements, game design, evaluation and implementation. Based on theresults of the evaluation it is found that thoroughly the game already meets the standards of IMK by Shneiderman and Plaisant (2010). It is good enough as a game play since it is available at Window Store.

Abstract

Besides opening new land to the hilly terrain, reclamation of beach and other watery land is one of the alternatives of residential land compliance which is pretty much applied. However, the reclamation work often encounteres some obstacles, such as the soft subgrade with a low carrying capacity and the possibility for consolidation reduction which is large and long and high sea waves that could potentially cause abrasion during both construction and after construction. The use of geosynthetic materials as an alternative material supporting the reclamation work in Indonesia is still limited. The project owner and executives tend to use conventional methods though the use of geosynthetic can provide benefits and ease of implementation. Some of the advantages of using geosynthetic materials in reclamation work with soft soil foundation is a faster execution of the work, loss reduction of embankment material into the soft subgrade, and lower maintenance costs. This paper discusses geosynthetic products as well as its application to the reclamation work that comes with examples of projects that have been or are being carried out and in Indonesia.

Abstract

The foundation work a building project is commonly done when students conducted Real Estate Internship which leads to inadequate knowledge of foundation work obtained during internship, especially the pile foundation work. Related to this condition it is necessary to study the technical specifications of a pile foundation commonly used on a project, how to pile, problems encountered at the field, and the latest technology to reduce obstacles at the field. The study is conducted with a descriptive approach towards building projects in Jakarta built in 2008, when the latest technology of pile foundation came to Indonesia. The results of the study provide knowledge that the pile foundation is made of hard wood, concrete and steel. The form of pile foundations is generally triangular or rectangular. Many building projects use concrete pile foundation with steel reinforcement and spiral reinforcement. The advantages of using concrete pile foundation are in order to be efficient, convenient and practical. Piling foundation uses a drop hammer or jacked piling system to the hardground. Obstacles encountered in the field are the soft soil conditions, the former marsh or land fill. Hydraulic Static Pile Driver (HSPD) or 'Press in Pile' is the latest method as a solution to pile the piling foundation in dense residential neighborhood. This technique can reduce or even eliminate the effects that interfere with the environment (vibration, air pollution and noise pollution) when piling the pile foundation. In general, the technology ‘Press in Pile’ reduces environmental problems as well as provides more convenient, faster and economical effects.

Abstract

Zappos established in 1999 runs its business by selling shoes online (e-commerce). The founder of the company originally wanted to provide the most diverse selection to its customers by providing all the brands, styles, sizes, and colors. Now Zappos begins to expand its product line. Zappos organizes all aspects of its business (including the hiring, organization's culture, call center, inventory, website, and supply chain) to provide the best service that gives a "wow" to each party that interacts with the company. Zappos grows rapidly. In 2008 its net sales (net of customer returns) of approximately $650 million. Even so, Zappos also faces a difficult time during recession. This case describes how the core competencies of a company's e-commerce which experiences early success quickly can survive a hit. Continuing to rely on organizational culture and customer service which are a long-term investment and relatively more expensive than other conventional approaches, Zappos can cut costs.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to review and implement interactive audio visual media used in an educational game to improve elementary students’ interest in learning mathematics. The game was developed for desktop platform. The art of the game was set as 2D cartoon art with animation and audio in order to make students more interest. There were four mini games developed based on the researches on mathematics study. Development method used was Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) that consists of requirement, design, development, testing, and implementation phase. Data collection methods used are questionnaire, literature study, and interview. The conclusion is elementary students interest with educational game that has fun and active (moving) objects, with fast tempo of music, and carefree color like blue. This educational game is hoped to be an alternative teaching tool combined with conventional teaching method.

Abstract

The research aims to determine whether there is a relationship between the quality of sales information systems and user performance. The research method uses survey correlation techniques. Data are collected using a questionnaire previously calibrated to test the validity (product moment) and instrument reliability (Alpha Cronbach). The population used is users of information systems that are sales employees. There is a total sample of 20 people obtained, with Non-Probability Sampling that is saturated sampling / survey. Data analysis is performed using regression techniques of simple linear and simple correlation. Prior to analysis, test of analysis requirements need to be done, which are normality and homogeneity test. The results show acorrelation coefficient of 0:51 or 51% which means that there is a positive relationship on medium level between the Effectiveness of sales Information Systems with Users performance. The coefficient of determination is 0:26or 26%. This means that 26% of the variation in user performance can be explained by the variable Effectiveness of Sales Information Systems. Meanwhile, the remainder which is 74% consists of factors (variables), such as leadership style, work environment, salary and others. It can be concluded from this research that there is a positive correlation (relationship) at medium level which is significant between the Effectiveness of Sales Information System with User Performance, which means that the higher the level of effectiveness of Sales Information System is, the higher the level of user performance will be.

Abstract

Capital Markets is part of the financial market, which is related to the supply and demand of the need for long-term funding. Capital Markets was formed and developed with aims to support the implementation of national development in order to improve the distribution, growth, and stability of the national economy towards the improvement of society welfare. However, so far the capital market in Indonesia is still around 0.5% of the total population which is too small compared to capital markets in other advanced countries. One solution for increasing community involvement in the capital market, despite educating in smart and sustainable way, is developing and implementing efficient information systems, so that made it easier for market participants to undertake investment activities. This paper examines how and to what extent the role of information system enhances the capital market in Indonesia, which aims to plan the subsequent strategic step so that the development of Indonesia’s capital market is able to compete in globalmarket.
